5 out of 5 eggsD-Link DSS-16+

Pros: Everything about this is awesome. I have mine linked to my Modem/router 3 computers and a separate router for 2 DVR receivers and a xbox, No problems with any of them not even speed issues my ping times are the same from the dvr2 hooked up to a router after this as it is if my computer was hooked straight to the modem/router.

Cons: None other then connections on rear would be nice. But it is meant to be rack mounted with a patch panel close for easy swap outs of connections.

Other Thoughts: Will be purchasing more when I need them. I did get lucky though saw this at a Salvation Army store for 1/10 of selling prices anywhere else. I was hoping it worked when I got it. hooked it up and bam perfect connections from the start.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not purchase this switch

Pros: Could not tell, since it did not work from day 1. Maybe its price, but you get what you pay for.

Cons: It replaced a couple of old 10/100 Mb Hubs. It did not recognized network printers and PCs. The link will come on and off randomly. Stay away from it. There was a rebate and good ratings thats why I purchased it. But I have notices on new egg, parts I have purchased with rebates fail sooner than parts without rebate. Its just my observation and experience.

4 out of 5 eggsNo Mounting Screws

Pros: This switch performs well. As expected, no errors.

Cons: No mounting screws came with the bracket to mount it to the rack. Although this sounds small, the screw size to mount to the unit is very specific and was actually quite a bothersome affair.

5 out of 5 eggsJust works.

Pros: It simply works. Nice and quick.

Cons: The occasional lagspike in games, but it could be the host's client. It doesn't cook me breakfast.

Other Thoughts: We use these in our house LAN Parties and for the occasional LAN event up at school. They obviously run cool, what more could 'ya want?

4 out of 5 eggsWorked good for 4 years

Pros: Easy to set up. Plug and play. Lots of capacity for what I needed, just a home network with 8 connections. And if I need more there is plenty of growth space.

Cons: This is a replacement of the first one that failed after 4 years. That seemed an life expectancy to me, so I bought another one. It was only about $60.

5 out of 5 eggsmine finally died but a quick capacitor replacement and its back up and running

Pros: What can I say, it just works, There is about 12 different devices connected to it gobbling up bandwidth and we still have a nice solid network. Part of this is probably due to using smoothwall as our router. but this is indeed a fantastic switch.

Cons: none, and I have had this switch for over 2 years.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst switch on network

Pros: Easy setup, Rack mountable, standard PC power connector, ease of use.

Cons: Not gigabit, LED layout is confusing to some.

Other Thoughts: Bought this switch for my uncles buisnessnetwork that had been running off a single linksys befsr41 router and there modem. It was a much needed upgrade, and has worked wonderfully for us. Will buy this switch again for future clients.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat switch.

Pros: I just got this and hooked it up, I replaces the tired little 5 port linksys I had.

This has a real AC port and an internal power supply. No wall wart needed. Just a standard power cable.

It's rack mountable, and while I am not using it in a rack. I am using the supplied metal rack mount horns to hang it from a ceiling rafter in my basement. I just attached the horns 90 degrees off facing up with the supplied screws, and drilled some wood screws in to hold it up. Looks really slick.

Auto MDI rocks, no more uplink port.

Cons: None yet, and hopefully none

1 out of 5 eggsD-Link has awful customer service!

Pros: Most of them work

Cons: TRYING TO GET THIS ITEM REPLACED! I had 1 go bad out of the 27 I ordered. The only way to get it serviced from D-Link is to fill out an online form.

I have filled out that form 3 times within the last month and have yet to receive a response.

Was never a huge fan of D-Link, but there was a good deal on this item when I needed it. But I guess you get what you pay for...

Other Thoughts: My first buy of D-Link...and my last!
