2 out of 5 eggsGo With Another Brand

Pros: Lasted a while. Worked. Cheap

Cons: Like many others on the internet have complained about, the fans die on these. They are also just flat noisy. If your rack is in an open office that is quiet, these are not for you. My customer lost their receipt and I had to argue with customer service about getting unit serviced, they refused. I asked for other options and she said their were none. Asked for supervisor, told wasn't a supervisor issue. Tried to call back, got the same person. Called a different department and finally got them to connect me to the customer service department manager. He offered new fans at $20+ a piece. I found fans online for $6 a piece shipped. Repaired the unit myself.

Other Thoughts: I ordered Cisco switches for my customer. They couldn't be happier. They are faster, quieter and I know that if they lose their receipt Cisco will be able to look at the date purchased and service the unit if it ever goes bad (which I haven't had happen)

5 out of 5 eggsLAN Party Switch

Pros: I use 5 of these to host 100+ man LAN parties. Uplinked to a managed gigabit core switch and there is plenty of bandwith to spare. Nobody has complained about our network yet. No lag or latency issues. Plug and Play!

Cons: Fan is a little noisy but not an issue for LAN parties. Management would be nice but not available at this price.

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This unmanaged switch is great for small business use. Set up and installation was easy, no configuration needed. I own a total of three- two I bought over a year ago and have been working without any problems- the third I recently bought and it has been working fine.

Cons: Web interface would be nice; however, it does a good job of managing itself, so this feature really isn't necessary.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat switch.

Pros: Works great!

Cons: It has cooling fans that make noise. The noise isn't super loud (maybe 28dB?) but I still have to listen to it in my server room.

4 out of 5 eggsExelent Switch

Pros: Works as good and painlessly as any unmanaged switch should. The Gigabit ports as positionied nicly for use as the backbone. The fan keeps the entire system very very cool.

Cons: The only reson this switch did not get a full 5 star is the fan started making noise within a few days of running. Not loud but enough to notice (sounds a lot like a hard drive running).

Other Thoughts: Very big bang for the buck. Great for gigabit migration.

5 out of 5 eggsA reliable and fast switch

Pros: Sold and installed in three sites over the last 10 months or so, run great. Connected Servers with 1GB/s NIC to 1 10/100/1000 port, used the other to cascade, PC's were all 10/100 anyway. Moved a new MAC G% Quad w/10/100/1000 to the last GB port and it was a dramatic increase in graphics file save/loads for the user.

Cons: None, so far

Other Thoughts: It is what it is, and that's a very inexpensive way to get good network perfromance at a low level of tech training.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Very good switch; I use it in conjuction with a D-Link 8 port Giga Switch DGS-1008TL. Only problem they do not stack well as they are different sizes. I am glad to see New Egg stock this one.

4 out of 5 eggsGood bang for your buck

Comments: Excellent cost, good equipment. I have a stack of 4 of these for my small office network, gigabit ports make server traffic much better.
