5 out of 5 eggsIt Rocks

Pros: small, discreet, and does exactly what it claims - what else can you ask for?

Cons: how is that companies continue to design power adapters in a manner that they take up 3 slots on a power strip? could the adapter been configured to connect vertically instead of horizontally? fortunately it's not needed, or at least it wasn't for my needs...

4 out of 5 eggsPretty straight forward USB HUB

Pros: Compact size; own power supply.

Cons: Due to size, USB ports are close together, troublesome for some USB plugs.

Other Thoughts: Would have liked to see a toggle switch to turn on the "fast charging" ports, but instead have to remove USB cable connecting the HUB to the computer.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT A CHARGER

Pros: 7 port USB Hub

Cons: NO POWER TO PORTS FROM AC ADAPTER UNLESS PLUGGED INTO COMPUTER. Cannot use a dedicated power supply for charging USB devices, iPhone, Android Phone/Tablet, etc.

Other Thoughts: Buy a different device that actually powers its ports independent of a computer.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works great

Pros: It works nicely. 2 ports for exclusive USB charging

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I like the fact that it has DC adapter to it, it takes all the load off of the main USB port its plugged into, greatly reducing a port over load. Message!!!

1 out of 5 eggsNo eggs for HW version A5

Pros: May have been improved in subsequent versions of the DUB-H7

Cons: Frequently disconnects devices, requiring that you unplug & replug your devices.
Rarely causes computer's USB port to stop working until a reboot.
Enough LEDs to melt cheese.
Ugly.

Other Thoughts: I don't understand how you can give something 3 golden eggs when it disconnects your USB devices intermittently... and it's only purpose is to not do that.

The hardware that I have is the silver one with the blue sticker - sortof pictured here, but the specs describe newer hardware. My hardware says "Model No..:DUB-H7" and "H/W Ver. A5" and it is total crud.

My hardware has bright green LEDs next to every port that are always on and serve no purpose. So, like, bonus: you won't need a nightlight.

It did not have (nor did it advertise) high power ports, so perhaps this has been completely resolved in newer hardware.

I'd love it if reviewers could make that clear - is your busted hardware the old ugly blue thing, or is it this new black thing with high power ports? Also I'd love to hear whether it really charges iPads - their power consumption is off the wall, and the DUB-H7 spec says "1.2 amps" while the official iPad charger says "10 watts".

3 out of 5 eggsMediocre

Pros: It *usually* works. Has seven ports and does what a hub is expected to do.

Cons: It doesn't like working when my computer resumes from hibernation. It's fixed by unplugging and plugging back in, which isn't terrible but it is inconvenient.

Other Thoughts: The power adapter is not actually necessary as it can pull power over USB. I found that my hibernation problems went away after throwing out the AC power adapter.

3 out of 5 eggsNew version actually 2 4 ports Hubs

Pros: works in most situations.

Cons: Beware...
The new version (black) is actually two 4 port hubs daisy-chained. 3 ports are from the first level hub and 4 ports from the second level hub. This can cause problems in some cases.
The original (silver/gray) was a true 7 port hub.

3 out of 5 eggsHas problems when multiples device simultaneously are in used

Pros: Powered. Even with 7 ports, power was never an issue.
Tons of ports for all your devices.

Cons: Frequent disconnections when multiple usb devices are active. I would then have to unplug the USB hub and replug it back in.

I had to move my USB mouse and keyboard off it because losing them became too frequent.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Reliable, reasonable price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought this hub back in 2006. Still going strong five years later- never run into any problems with it.
