5 out of 5 eggsSolid product for me

Pros: Small form factor, powered hub. Transformer has long lead.

If you want a small form factor, powered hub that fits easily into a laptop case, this is it.

Cons: None for me.

Other Thoughts: I have been using one of these over the past year, pulling it in and out of a laptop case and it continues to work well. It works with mice and USB enclosures.

I just bought a second one due to its solid performance.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine here

Pros: This little guy has been working just fine for me, in multiple studios, for over a year. Mine do not run hot. Mine are not even warm to the touch. I usually don't write reviews, but the reviews are pretty negative here, and this little thing has been great for my purposes.

Cons: Love to see a 13 port version, or more???

1 out of 5 eggsFor lack of a better explanation... broke my computer.

Pros: It didn't set my house on fire.

Cons: Ever since I plugged this device in, WinXP is super-wonky. Now my secondary IDE won't load if there are any USB devices plugged in anywhere (even with this USB hub far, far away in a land-fill somewhere).

Other Thoughts: I've never had such a tiny device, and one that *should* be fairly benign) wreak so much havoc upon a computer.

I wish I could give it a "0" rating.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't do it

Pros: None

Cons: As the other reviews said it ran very hot from the beginning. It would also despite being externally powered not provide enough power to much of anything connected let alone something like a hard drive. It would also constantly drop connections with the devices connected. It also my my WinXP system very unstable and would BSOD.

2 out of 5 eggsI wouldn't buy again.

Pros: It has 7 ports, it's small.

Cons: Runs very hot. Was unstable with my computer causing BSOD with the USB devices. Things would not reliably stay connected. I stopped using it after a couple of days.

1 out of 5 eggs4 ports failed upon arrival

Pros: None

Cons: 4 Ports failed upon arrival. Only 3 ports worked. Rather disappointed. I ended up not using it at all because I had my old 4 port hub, waited for 6 months to call Trendnet for an exchange (too bz with life to go thru this process). Trendnet's customer service was okay. I had to call 3-4 times to get the RMA number. They refused to pay the 1st return shipping fee. If it fails the second time, they promised to pay the 2nd return shipping fee. The new product I got so far is all right, all 7 Ports work, but gets very hot, ie. can't touch it. I assume it won't last long. Will not do business with TrendNet again.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I thought the low price was a Pro - wrong.

Cons: This hub ran VERY hot from the get-go, with or without the power supply attached. The first month there were occasional problems with attached devices. After a month XP began to sound like a pinball machine with constant errors. Replaced with hub from different mfr & problems went away. (I never did get my rebate either.)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat things come in small packages

Pros: It is a great 7 port USB2 hub that is very compact. Perfect size for laptops and people on the go. Even comes with a power supply if you need to have a powered hub beyond what the pc offer.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Does get hot for some reason, no noticeable changes when hot, other than that no complaints.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy

Pros: Small size

Cons: Runs very hot, constant disconnect and reconnect

Other Thoughts: The hub gets very hot when running, which would be ok if it actually worked consistently. The hub gets recognized by XP, but after a couple of minutes you get bombarded with constant disconnect/re-connected sounds (like you are unplugging and re-plugging in the device). I ordered two of these and both of them do it on two different computers (one notebook and one desktop). I also tried multiple USB cables, but no change.

Look elsewehere for a USB hub solution, as this one is junk.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't buy

Pros: 7 ports hits the sweet spot.

Cons: It died on me in 2 days. I noticed that it did run kindof warm.. enough to get me thinking that it might be an issue. I had 5 ports plugged with lightwieght stuff (game controllers). I emailed support but never heard back from them.
Not squared. Makes standing it up more difficult.

Other Thoughts: This was the 1st TrendNet product I bought.. and will probably be the last. This item might be suitable for mobile / light-duty use. I used mine on my home PC which runs alot. I know you can get a lemon anytime but getting a lemon coupled with no response to my problem is just wrong.
