Short on USB ports? Look no further. The IOGEAR GUH274 is a portable solution to your problems. With no external power source it's a great, inexpensive way to increase the available ports on your system. Its size and lack of a separate power supply make it extremely portable and easy to move between computers or take on the road.

Requiring no drivers, the GUH274 is "Plug-n-Play," -- it can be plugged into any computer without having to be configured. It will also support almost any operating system including Windows 98, 98SE, 2000, ME, XP, and Mac OS X. A great inexpensive addition to any computer, the IOGEAR GUH274 is a perfect piece of hardware to expand USB capabilities.

  • newegg 4-port USB Hub The IOGEAR GUH274 USB 2.0 hub features one USB 2.0 upstream cable to connect the hub and your computer and four USB 2.0 downstream ports for connection to a variety of USB devices such as storage devices, scanners, printers, external optical drivers and digital cameras.

1 out of 5 eggsShort Cable!!!

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: ONE INCH CABLE - You WILL need to buy a USB extension cable for this to be of any use to you at all. Yeah, if I looked close enough to the pictures I may have noticed...but what's the point of a hub if you can't plug it in. It's not even good for laptops as it requires an AC power source.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for the inconvenience. I will have your comments sent to the product manager or his review. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

1 out of 5 eggsnot reliable

Pros: they were cheap and low profile

Cons: we probably went through 100 of them that burned out on us at work at some point. probably out of 300.we were using them on medical carts that needed more usb devices. had to switch to another brand. ran hot. melted.

Other Thoughts: cheap if you need it. dont use anythign that draws too much power. it will eventually MELT and fry.

Manufacturer Response:

First, thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for your experience. The product should not behave as you described. We make a wide range hubs to suite all specific needs. Since the unit is backed by IOGEAR's 3 year warranty feel free to contact our customer support at 1-866-946-4327 or email us: Again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

5 out of 5 eggs4+ yrs later it looks like... but it still works great.

Pros: Connection to laptop is full USB 2.0 speed even if all attached devices are running at 1.1 speeds.

Cons: gets a bit warm

Other Thoughts: I just ordered a new M4300 and decided to get a newer one of these since the old one I have doesn't look as pretty as it used to (still works great though)

3 out of 5 eggsSmall, cheap, but unreliable

Pros: Small size, cheap, USB cord stows away in itself. Has 3 year warranty.

Cons: This unit gets VERY HOT, to the point of being uncomfortable to hold after being in use. As a result, mine died in just under one year.

Other Thoughts: Kudos to Newegg for a seamless RMA process!

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: Looks cool. Very compact design and is great for mobile use.

Cons: The product failed on me after about 1~2 years of use. It operates at very high temperature. The warranty process is a hassle; I avoided it and got a new, different product.

Other Thoughts: Avoid this one. It operates very hot, indicating to me there is something wrong with it. I bought a Belkin hub to replace it. The Belkin is much better, though more expensive.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Hub

Comments: I've owned one of these for over a year and never had a problem with it using both 2.0 and 1.1 USB devices on it. It's very small and the built-in USB cable folds neatly into the underside for easy storage in a laptop bag.

5 out of 5 eggsKnow the specs before you complain

Comments: Don't expect to get good performance if you plug in a mouse, webcam, and a bunch of other stuff that wants all the bandwidth. Trying to mix 1.1 usb and 2.0 stuff on a hub isn't exactly a good idea. I would try and use your 1.1 devices (mouse) on a seperate usb port. IOGEAR makes good products, and there is nothing wrong with this product. xxxxxxxxx had a good article about USB 2.0 Hubs a month or two ago. Why don't you read that?

2 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Terrible Hub!I pluged it in my Laptop with only one device and it worked fine. But after I pluged in everything (optical mouse, web cam,dvd-rw,sb extigy) the following happened....a)optical mouse skipping b)dvd-rw not writing properly c)wrb cam changes random colors d) sb-live skips!!! So basically NOTHING WORKS with this hub if you plug them together!I`ll RMA it and get a different brand. This is not a true 2.0 usb hub.
