3 out of 5 eggsDoes its job. Far from gracefully

Pros: Powers a system
Long cables
Good return policy

Cons: Incredibly loud fan (the only fan I can hear in my system)
Ugly cables
Not very efficient
Possible cause for coil whine in GTX 970

Other Thoughts: Not recommended

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: I've owned this PSU for more than a year now and I haven't had any issues out of it.

My Build Consists of:

-Asus Crosshair V Formula Mother Board
-AMD FX-8350 CPU (Haven't tried overclocking)
-Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition
-12GB HyperX Memory @1600 MHz
-64GB Crucial SSD
-1TB Western Digital HDD @7200Rpm
-CoolerMaster Hyper 212 CPU Fan
-Plus 5 Case Fans w/LEDs

This PSU powers all of it pretty easily.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsGood but short cables.

Pros: This is a great power supply. Definitely great in any gaming setup. It runs great and it is virtually silent.

Cons: The only con I can really find is that the cables seem cheap and are a little short. I was using an mid sized ATX for my build and I found that some of the cables just weren't quite long enough.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: awesome modular design, has just more than enough cables for me. i really like how quiet it is, and yet how great it works. blends in well with my NZXT tempest case.

Cons: the SATA power cables are kinda flimsy and don't like to stay connected while you're hooking everything up. save those for last and secure your drives and you won't have issues though.

2 out of 5 eggsFine

Pros: Does what I expected it to.

Cons: The cover over it is just wire, so dropping screws in there is pretty easy. But they aren't too hard to get out and I definitely should have been more careful to begin with.

Other Thoughts: Pretty standard, no surprises.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked great

Pros: Easy to install, love the cables that it comes with.

Cons: well there wasn't a problem with it until it burned up after almost one year in use. That is where I have had the main problems with it. I have contacted NZXT Support and have got a support auto email saying that someone will get back to you soon, well it has been like a week and nothing, yet

Other Thoughts: my cpu set up is
AMD FX-8150
Corsair H100 Cooler
32gb G.skill DDR3 1600
Asus Sabertooth 990FX
EVGA GeForce GTX 570
NZXT ATX Full tower case

5 out of 5 eggsWorks and is much cooler than my old one.

Pros: Runs Cool
Capable and ready for my systems expansion
NZXT Three year guarantee
Cable lengths are adequate for my tower
Great Price for the power !!

Cons: Cables are stiff (but that means well made as well)
One generation old

Other Thoughts: My 750 watt Xion supply blew up after using the GForce Nvidia Application to optimize my Mech Warrior online settings. Screen looked great but my tower was cooking. The old supply went "Bang,,, BangBangBang" then smoked and powered down. I replace it with this one and the first thing I noticed was the tower is cooler in normal operation than it ever was with the cheap Xion from IBuyPower. I enjoyed the modular plugs because I don't have a lot of extra cords laying inside the case that I don't need and now I don't worry about the heat like I did.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate to 6/1/2013 7:05:54 PM DOA

Pros: Still can't tell you.

Cons: The RMA process. Seriously make sure you test the power supply within Newegg's 30 day window. You don't want to deal with NZXT unless you have to. You'll note where they told me they wanted me to get my system up and going asap. Uhm. Sure.

Other Thoughts: I submitted a ticket with NZXT and got tired of waiting for a response so I used their live chat support. It went like this: (Posted this in the NZXT help ticket as well)
I was told in live chat that before any RMA action would be taken I first needed to jump start the power supply by grounding the green and black wires in the main motherboard connection cable and then pugging it in. I was directed to Youtube videos to show me how to go about doing this. I noted that a competitor's guide (Seasonic) concerning jump starting stated that if the fan spins up the power supply "probably" is ok. Not an unequivocal thumbs up. I was told that if the fan spun up then no RMA action would be taken. Also, I like how during my initial live chat I was questioned as to why it took me so long to find out the power supply was faulty. Pardon me, but I parceled out my purchases over a few paychecks to avoid one large bill. Some people still believe in saving up and buying things with money in hand rather than stacking up credit card debt. A stupid question to be sure. Who cares how long I let it sit in shrink wrap inside a box from Newegg? Is it under warranty or not? So I jump started the power supply and the fan did indeed spin up. I logged back in to live chat to update customer service that the fan spun up but my faith was mistakenly placed. It will only power the pc for about one second, if even that, before acting as if I have hit the power off switch.

I really should have tested it within the 30 day return window with Newegg. That way I could have returned it. Caveat Emptor.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Apologies for the initial outcome of the chat-- I'm sure that the CSR representatives meant to say that no RMA action will be taken if the fans spun up and had continued to work properly.

Please contact us via our support website (URL: We would like to help you through the RMA process asap.

Pros: Couldn't tell you.

Cons: Just started my build today and this power supply is a brick. I would comment on newegg's rma process but I waited to long to start building and now I'll have to deal with NZXT.

5 out of 5 eggsInitial Thoughts

Pros: It seems to be working just fine. No problems so far.

-Stays cool
-Bronze Certified
-Inexpensive (even when its not on sale)
-Strong 12v Rail
-hasn't died yet

Cons: Can't think of any in particular. I've had absolutely no problems with this PSU. The only thing that kinda irked me was it was only semi-modular and not full modular. But since I knew this already its no big deal.

Other Thoughts: Even though I didn't use it, I thought the NZXT Dead on Arrival policy was pretty cool.
