2 out of 5 eggsNot suggested

Pros: -1200W
-Fully modular

Cons: -Fan does not turn on as soon as it seems it should.

Other Thoughts: I have had to RMA this unit TWICE since I bought it. once a few months after I bought it. and again just this week. COMPLETELY different systems. (amd 8 core/Intel 5960x).
I bought this so that in the future I would have a high wattage PSU that I could use for multiple GPUs. I recently acquired a second GTX 780 Ti. if I go up to about 95-106% power usage on both cards the PSU overheats and shuts off after about 35 minutes. THE FAN DOES NOT SPIN UP. I think this entire series of GPUs is defective NZXT should probably buy from a different OEM in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsnice power plant.

Pros: well made, nice finish, and good contrast color with a black case.

Cons: no cons as of yet. will update as i find them.

Other Thoughts: For those that are not that familiar. There is one cable that is for the CPU power. It has all the pins that have spacers in between them. The rest are PCI power cables and have some pin receptors that are joined by plastic. don't use those for the CPU power. i had the kid try for the first time try to build a system and that is a mistake he made.
I hope this helps those of you who are just starting to make your own systems... good luck.

1 out of 5 eggsdied/faulty after a few months.

Pros: Fully modular
White power supply (awesome!)
Great packaging
Comes with plenty cables

Cons: -inconsistent

It has "semi-died" - only works after I take out power cable, turn pc on/off multiple times....and still only comes on sometimes. I tested a working power supply to confirm my suspicion that this NZXT Hale 90 v.2 was indeed at fault. My old 750watt Antec PSU worked great right away. I plugged it in to my computer, hit the power switch on my chassis and whammo-worked like a charm.. So, yes my problem is my faulty NZXT Hale 90 v.2 1200 watt PSU.

Other Thoughts: I went out on a limb here with my eyes closed praying this PSU would be ok given the TERRIBLE reviews people have given it and the only minor amount of positive reviews to counter those.

Unfortunately, NZXT make the only white PSU in that capacity and I wanted to match my pc case.

I hope NZXT can relax replace mine for a newer manufactored version of this PSU (2014 made preferably). Better yet, let's see them start clean and come out with a decent white colored PSU for a change.

5 out of 5 eggsGood.. So far

Pros: 1000 watts, fully modular, white, quiet, inexpensive, efficient.

Cons: big, Uses the uncommon C19 plug (but I guess that's unavoidable for large PSU's) No white LED's, no fan controllers, No build in temp sensor. I cannot knock off an egg because the price is very reasonable for what you get.....

Other Thoughts: A fair amount of people reported this PSU died after a few months. Mine has been working fine, but all the reports have me worried. I have never had a PSU die on me and a have several PSU's over 5 years old. I would have been more happy with a 800 watt as I do not care for the c19 plug as the cables are uncommon and expensive to replace.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, Yet.....?

Pros: - Runs Cool
- 100 Amps 12V+ Single Rail
- Great Design and Color Scheme

Cons: - Died in 3 months

Other Thoughts: Now I have no good reason to dock four eggs on this PSU just because it died fairly quick. I say this because I ran this power supply for 3 months straight under high load in a GPU mining rig and it did its job without any issue supplying steady power and keeping cool. What was odd though was when I realized I was wasting my time mining and stripped down the system, I put the PSU off to the side and built a gaming rig a week later only to find the PSU kept dropping power and made the computer reset. I tried this with 3 motherboards only to see the same reset problem and the ASUS motherboard showed a warning for over-current protection being triggered and other PSU's did not recreate the issue. In the end the power supply did its job well, then died at 90 days so I think it's a 3 star PSU giving the possibility I just had a dud PSU with something possibly loose inside.

1 out of 5 eggsPSU Dies After Short Period of Use

Pros: In an attempt to give a balanced review, I will note down what was positive about this unit. Unfortunately, none of it means anything, if the unit dies after a year of use.
* Modular & Clean Design
* Plenty of cables in varying sizes to easily connect to the components.

Cons: The unit has been under light usage for much of the year. I purchased this ten months ago and only started putting it under normal daily use about 1.5 months ago. This morning it ceased working; I verified it was the PSU and not the motherboard by removing the PSU from another computer and powering the rig this PSU was connected to. It powered up with no trouble.

Other Thoughts: This unit is overall very nice in design and portability. Unfortunately, all of that means absolutely nothing, if the unit is unreliable.

I absolutely recommend not purchasing this unit.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: Looks cool? High Power? Variable speed fan?

Cons: Died after 3-4 months of very light usage.

Other Thoughts: Get something else. Never had a PSU die on me. This is a 1200W PSU. I bought way more watts than I was going to use for safety and future upgrades. Also I never got around to fully setting up the server with what I wanted to put in it. This setup never drew more than 400 watts. This thing is a piece of junk. It probably lasted as long as it did because of the light load.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: Performance, Stability, Modularity, Color. I have two running strong after months

Cons: None. But on a preference note, I like the screw-in cables more than the standard snap-in ones.

Other Thoughts: I've bought two of these due to how well and quiet my first one performed. I've had both for more than 3 months with no issues WHATSOEVER. In my experience, when something is DOA, it's due to a shipping carrier (products pass inspection before leaving manufacturing facility), FWIW.

1 out of 5 eggsKeep away

Pros: Looked nice an was modular. When it worked, it worked well and stayed cool under high load (~1100w constant)

Cons: PSU died after 5 weeks, AND fried my motherboard!

Hopefully replacing the bios chip on my mobo fixes it, otherwise I'm not out of luck twice... :(

Other Thoughts: This unit failed just outside of Newegg's normal refund/replacement timeframe. Fortunately Newegg came through for me with awesome customer service and offered an exception for store credit, as I did NOT want a another PSU from NZXT. Thanks Newegg for letting me get a replacement!

Manufacturer Response:
