2 out of 5 eggsI've not been pleased

Pros: When it works it seems ok. I do like the external power source for those flaky usb devices that seem to crave power from the wall not the case.

Cons: I bought the first one over 3 years ago. It died less than a week before the warranty ran out. I emailed Kensington and I will say that without much fuss they did replace the unit with a factory refurbished one. I was also informed that I would not have any warranty on the replacement since my original warranty was so close to expiring. This didn't inspire me. It made me feel like they were going to do just the bare minimum to fulfill their warranty obligation.

Another year later and now the replacement is dead. I'm not sure why but these hubs seem to have a hard time lasting past the 1 year mark.

I have a Belkin that is at least 5-6 years old and works fine. For the thirty eight dollar price tag I would expect a lifetime warranty and a superior product. Neither one is found here.

3 out of 5 eggsQUIT

Pros: Worked great while it worked.

Cons: Only lays flat . Stand ups use less space.
Quit working just out of warranty of one year.
It was on a computer that was only used maybe four hours three days a week.

2 out of 5 eggsPower Supply Died

Pros: Great Hub... until the power supply died less than a year later...

Cons: For the expense of this hub seems that this power supply would last longer

3 out of 5 eggsWorked good but died just like all the rest

Pros: Small, simple, no huge light show, easy to hookup.

Cons: Didn't make it a year until ports stopped working. It got to the point where only one port on the back was working so I'm off to try another hub.

Other Thoughts: I suppose I need to just give up on these hubs and do a rebuild with ports in the front of my tower.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Behaves exactly like you'd expect. It's been absolutely stable for six months. No resets required. Hard drives, thumb drives, printers, scanners are no problem.

Cons: Like others have said, this hub likes to slide around on the desk. I fixed that by anchoring the hub with some sticky gum. 1 egg off.

Other Thoughts: Other, cheaper hubs sometimes have trouble waking up after the computer's been on standby. This one does not. I'm saving $10 per month on electricity now that my computer can sleep and wake up reliably.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Item

Pros: Works fine

Cons: Terrible design.... I don't understand why would anyone put AC adapter in the middle of the cable and why is the cable so short? I can't even set it up on my desk without it falling on the floor........ the adapter supposed to be at the end of the cable..... I thought Kensington has great products but I would rather go with cheaper and less know company then buy any products like this one...... priceless

Other Thoughts: Stay Away

4 out of 5 eggsVersatile, powered

Pros: Powered to run more peripherals without overloading the computer's available USB power.
Ports on front AND back.
Power connection is on back, as well as the link port.

Cons: Very light weight w/o rubber feet means can slid around easily.

Other Thoughts: This little hub was a great expansion solution for my iMac. Plugged it in, and my printer and USB-powered hard drives worked perfectly.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat hub.

Pros: - Looks good and works well, solid construction.
- Ports spaced out well.
- No annoying lights.
- Self powered, but comes with AC. So far have not had to use it.

Cons: - Power brick is huge.
- The aluminum casing could be better polished.
- No rubber feet, the hub slides on the desk and may leave scratches.

Other Thoughts: I'd prefer 4 ports on back and 3 on front, or at least 1 on top.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: Sturdy, Aluminum shell, Self Powered, ext power supply more than ample.

Cons: I would like to have a mounting plate with this Hub. One that I could permanently affix to a desktop (or whatever) with a quick release to easily install or remove the HUB from.

I solved this desire with a piece of two inch wide sticky velcro. A mounting base would we sweet though.

Other Thoughts: For the folks out there listing themselves as "somewhat high", or better and wonder why their USB port powered hubs will not run 7 devices:

Your hub (regardless of make and model) will only power devices up to the maximum rated output of the USB port that you have it plugged into. If you want to run a bunch of powered USB devices from a single port then this is the type of hub you require. One that supplies it's OWN power (through an external power supply).

It's not the UNPOWERED USB hub's fault that you're unable to jump start your Caterpillar D-3 diesal bull dozer from your USB hub.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Seems to work fine... No problems with it at all... easy to connect and such...

Cons: None so far... may the price? But its a nice product....

Other Thoughts: In my experience USB hubs can often give various wonky problems, this hub hasnt seemed to cause any....
