1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work in XP

Pros: none

Cons: Like another commenter, I could not get this to work in XP Pro. Tried 3 drives on 2 different computers. Does not show up in "my computer" or in Disk Management. Just plain doesn't work.

3 out of 5 eggsAs Advertised

Pros: CHEAP, easy to use, CHEAP

Cons: If I had to pick something, It would be the design. Probably not the smartest design.

Other Thoughts: This is exactly what the pictures show- an aluminum box you can stick your hard drive in. There are no mounts, no ventilation, and it takes all of thirty seconds to put your drive inside it. I can't imagine that it won't over heat, and if you drop it the enclosure is quite durable looking, solid metal will do that. But since the HDD is just floating around in there it is likely to shatter into over 9000 pieces.

Summary: If you are looking for a super cheap way to get a hard drive enclosure, then this works. If you are looking for something for long term use, well . . . better look elsewhere.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works as avertised. Simple to assemble. Just plug it in and away you go. Excellant product. You get what you pay for. I could pick it apart and say you need to do this to it or to to that to make it better but like I said, if you dont expect anything special and when you get it it does more than you expected its great.

Cons: Nothing here

4 out of 5 eggsjust fine

Pros: Works as it is supposed to

Cons: The power cord does not fit properly. I'm afraid down the road I'll have problems with a loose connection. fingers crossed

Other Thoughts: I've only had this a few days, so I don't know if this will last a long time, or if it will be trash next week.

1 out of 5 eggshorrible

Pros: none. i would rate this item a negative if i could.

Cons: this item is horrible. half the time they work, the other half of the time they dont work (i bought 2, only opened one). the build is horrible.

the worst part about them is when you attach your hard drive to the device and then try to slide the attached drive into the case. its a really tight fit and it feels like you're going to damage something.
also there is no air circulation going on in there and it gets really hot.

i would never recommend this item nor will i buy this item again im actually about to return it right now. i ordered 2 they're both going back. piece of cow dung made me waste money on shipping. now i have to pay shipping to return it.

Other Thoughts: this item is a piece of you-know-what. (i know ill be censored)

if i were to use this item i would just plug the drive into the attachment and throw the case away. the metal case is useless.

3 out of 5 eggsCheap but does the job

Pros: Cheap, works with both Mac and PC, good for testing hard drives if they are from PCs that have OS issues.

Cons: Cheap, cheaply made, gets hot, little slow, had to send it back due to a loose solder connection, however the RMA replacement came fast.

Other Thoughts: I should have spent a little more.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for Short Term Use

Pros: Needed to transfer some data from an old IDE
drive. Plan on using the drive for backups, so
this enclosure was a cheap and easy solution.

Cons: As others have mentioned, it gets hot. Really hot.
After 3 hours I turned it off fearing my drive would be damaged.

This isn't an issue for me because I'm only using it to back up data. I wouldn't recommend it for people who want to keep it on for extended periods of time.

There are also no instructions for how to install the drive
in the enclosure. It isn't a difficult procedure, but I found
the lack of documentation odd.

Other Thoughts: Newegg's packaging and shipping time were as stellar
as they always are.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Worth a Cent

Pros: Hey, it looked nice, at least. Other than that...

Cons: Hooked it to my computer and I knew things were bad when it took my lap top over a minute to find it. Then it lost it, found it and lost it again. Seemed like a bad connection somewhere. Eventually (third time used) it would not connect period. Now it is as useless as ever.

Other Thoughts: Will be returning it ASAP and getting a better one (Rosewill).

2. cheap
3. no lights in your face since LED is located in the back

Cons: -

Other Thoughts: can't get to "safely remove your hardware", workaround - I put the pc in sleep mode & disconnect hdd
