5 out of 5 eggsWorking under Windows 7 Professional with USB and SATA

Pros: This devices is being used for forenics work. The goal is to provide a way to replicate a drive. A previous review claimed that the device does not work under Windows 7. While the device does not register with the USB cord without a drive installed, the device will register properly with a drive inserted into the device. To see the drive, the drive must be initialized within Computer management.

Cons: None to speak of at the present.

Other Thoughts: Formatting was quick under quick format. I typed one line and it was done. The SATA connection works with my Toshiba Satellite. Multiple options are useful when backing up or mirroring replacement drives.

5 out of 5 eggsPERFECT!

Pros: Save my life! After my desktop died I manage to get all my photos thanks to this! Also have helped me for backups. It's great no problem when putting the hard drives in. I have used both notebook and desktop hard drives without any problem and windows xp and 7 recognize it without the need of using the cd. Oh almost forgot REALLY FAST TRANSFER! I moved 3gigs of information in less than 1 minute. Computer was a quad-core tho and a few others goodies so that may vary and I was using the usb cable haven't use E-sata yet.

Cons: None really... Maybe that if you are not careful when inserting drive you could break something. But I'm a big guy and as long as you control your "brute force" this wont happen :D

Other Thoughts: I still haven't used the back-up button tho and I dont know why it came with a disk because i didn't even touched it since windows recognized it and worked GREAT its really plug and play...

AGAIN OTHER COMPANIES SUCK BUT NEWEGG ROCKS!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: Product worked great out of the box! Hot swappable! Supports 2.5 and 3.5 hard drives! Has both eSATA and USB! The price!!!

No noticeable heatup of the hard drives (currently using 2.5's at this time)

Newegg was excellent as always with from purchase to signing for the item at my front door. Shipping as usual was faster than expected, received it 2 days prior than estimated.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Purchased this product with the intentions of backing up photos/videos and also to backup my Wii video games (because of children's P B & J fingers). For those of you curious if this will support a softmodded Wii it will.

5 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: Worked well with a 320 gb hdd. Had no problems with it. Partitioned the harddrive, formated the partitions, etc... Never had any issues with it. Does what an external drive should do.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I didn't realize the difference between IDE and SATA drives before buying this. Had like 10 IDE drives sitting around and one SATA drive. It's unfortunate I didn't get to use all of them like I figured, but hell, the 320 SATA trumps them all anyway. If you don't know what hard drive you have, look it up before hand.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Buy

Pros: Works very well. I'm able to use my 300gb drive quite easily. Easy to set up, doesn't tip over easily. Does what an hdd dock should do.

Cons: It will make your harddrive hot. Not that it should be surprising. Aside from that, nothing.

Other Thoughts: No fear.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far...

Pros: Easy to use - has power switch - reliable

Cons: drive does not seem to sleep...?

Other Thoughts: I purchased this unit so that I could hot swap internal hard drives which I can use for testing and backup. I tried it with a Western Digital 1TB Black hard drive and it worked immediately. I did not need to install any drivers. It even worked on Windows 7 RC1. I did not install the backup software so I can't say if that feature works well or not however. I may need to change a few settings but it does not seem that the drive will go to sleep when idle. I guess that's alright since the unit does have a power switch on it but it would be nice if it would power off when idle to help with the heat and energy usage etc. Overall this unit is great and I recommend it! Lets hope it lasts many years...

5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Most everything I guess. This is my 1st eSATA Dock, so I have no personal experience with them. So far it has done everything asked. More 'solid' than expected. Most items similar to this are cheap, featherweight plastic.

Cons: At this point, none.......

Other Thoughts: My case is a mid-tower CoolerMaster, and after installing RAID 0 there was no room for a slave drive since my GTX 260 GPU blocks access to all but 2 HDD bays. Gigabyte supplied a rear panel eSATA connection with the motherboard so I used it to connect the Dock. This is VERY handy, since now I can plug in any SATA drive I want.

Case manufacturers should get busy and adopt this idea to their products so a user can quickly add or remove SATA HDDs from the factory HDD mounting area. This adaptation could be hidden behind a small door on the side/front of a case.
