5 out of 5 eggsVery nice

Pros: Very solid, good working enclosure. Looks good on my desk too.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: 2.5" HHD or SSD fit perfectly. I have just cloned a HHD via the USB cable and it worked fine using Macrium Reflect. The blue drive light can light an entire room though. Drives don't seen to overheat even though I run a 7200rpm one in it to store images and backup files.

5 out of 5 eggsSeveral, working fine.

Pros: This offers good protection, isn't flimsy once assembled, has an aluminum case to keep the HDD cool and does a nice job. The carrying case is cheap material, but it holds the enclosure and the USB cable and you could store the special screwdriver in it.

No problems using it. The bright blue LED indicator is on when plugged in, but flashes brighter/dimmer during I/O activity.

Cons: Set up a jewelers work station for assembly. You'll want bright light, strong reading glasses and a clear space to find the tiny screws when they get away from you. Shear tension on the screws makes them tend to cross-thread. Apply careful pressure to the case to reduce the shear and line up the holes. Assembly doesn't require any technical knowledge other than normal anti-static handling, just micro hand eye coordination and some patience.

Other Thoughts: Consider the ATK-25U3-BK model, the USB 3.0 version, if you'll be using an SSD or very fast HDD.

Pre-built units would be nice, but I don't like pre-installed "value-added" software and proprietary features. Give me a blank generic disk every time, please.

I can't talk to the need for the second USB plug, because I'm using only low power (1 A max) drives, which stay under the USB power rating.

This unit, with a low power drive, is the perfect Windows 7 backup solution on a budget. I'm spreading these around to all my Windows 7 friends and family. But, I'm assembling them!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: 1. Fast shipping (provided I had to wait out the weekend, my fault)
2. Easy to install HDD.
3. Easy connectivity (small con, read below)
4. Nice carrying case.

Cons: 1. Two USB cords is a bit of a hassle for plugging directly into the PC seeing as most of my accessories are all USB (MP3 Player, Headset, Keyboard, Mouse, Flash Drive, Network Card etc)

Other Thoughts: Good product, cheap. The two USB issue wasn't worth taking off an egg.

1 out of 5 eggsTotal Waste of Money

Pros: NONE!

Cons: 2 HDD's and constant disconnect errors. Formatting issues (the drivers are BRAND NEW). Buyer beware. Logic board SATA connector is VERY flimsy.

5 out of 5 eggsStill working after 5 months

Pros: I have had this for more then 5 months and it has never failed. I even have this thing running on a unique UDF filesystem and no issues with (linux, windows 7 share). The pouch has done its job protecting it from travel abuse. And the USB cable is long enough for me to locate this on the left side of my laptop with the USB on the right side for when I need space for my mouse. (Yeah I need a bigger workspace.)

Cons: Not really a con but the blue LED is pretty bright, so can be distracting. Nothing a black sharpie can't take care of lol.

Other Thoughts: I have run the enclosure with only ONE of the two USB ends plugged in. While I wouldn't recommend doing that long term, at the risk of data corruption, I would like to say it at least worked when I ran out of USB slots momentary. In fact reading data with one USB plugged in shouldn't be too bad (as long as its able to spin up at a minimum) but writing to the drive on only one USB plug I would advise against it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great; No problems.

Pros: Very solid enclosure. Great price. Comes with case. Good looking.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Once again, another perfect transaction with Newegg ...

First the item -- it is perfect for what it does. Extremely solid and sturdy. It is also slim and good looking. Very easy to put the drive in (just be careful not to lose the tiny screws). Comes with a handy case that also fits the cord (or another similarly slim drive enclosure). And works well.

Second, Newegg service -- They offered free shipping and the item came within a few days. What more can I say? I have made perhaps 10-15 separate purchases from Newegg over the last 7-9 years and have never had single issue with either the product or the service.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Portable

Pros: The Aluminum keeps it cooled, the cable is perfect length. and of course the price u cant beat it.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Keep in mind it needs 2 USB ports to powered it up, since it doesnt use a ac adapter althought it does have the jack for it but does not include the cable itself. Im a DJ and use this for easy access to my music, new laptops now have 3 USBs port so no big deal. Other then that its perfect, the set up was easy as possible. The only thing is the blue led light is also a button but it does not say whats its purpose, i pressed it and does nothing. Comes with carrying pouch and screw driver. GREAT BUY

1 out of 5 eggsHD size problems

Pros: Very good price

Cons: HD size problems using disk mirroring software. Two identical 500GB 2.5" ST9500325AS. One install in a laptop, one installed in the Kingwin ATX-25U-BK for backup. Mirroring software reports the Kingwin ST9500325AS drive is 200K bytes less then the laptop ST9500325AS???? Swapped out the Kingwin for a Coolmax and no problems. Ordering another Coolmax case.

Other Thoughts: Getting ready for collage. When I have time I'll look into the SATA to USB chipset. Must be the cause of the 200K bytes delta.
