5 out of 5 eggsSimply Love it.

Pros: Very good design, not cheaply build. Very easy to install hard drives. Hard drives are hot-swappable. Runs cool, about same as hard drives in my computer. There is nice quiet fan that blows air nicely on both of my 1TB hard drives.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Separate hard drive on/off switch would be nice, especially when drives been used in JBOD mode.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Enclosure

Pros: This enclosure provides really decent speeds and GREAT cooling. Unlike some other enclosures, the airflow is not blocked by the PCB, facilitating cooling.

Cons: Doesn't have E-Sata, but at that price, it's to be expected.

Other Thoughts: This is pretty much the best dual bay enclosure for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Product

Pros: Very nicely built. Easy setup. Drive installation is a breeze. Works exactly as designed. Bought two for backup purposes after a NAS crash and doing very nicely connected in to an Iomega X2 NAS as external USB storage. Very compact form factor and low noise.

Cons: External power supplies are a bit of a pain but as they are tucked in to my wiring closet, really not a big issue. Internal power would increase size but would be a nice to have.

Other Thoughts: If you need a simple JBOD or basic RAID setup in a USB connection, this is the product you should get.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Unit!!

Pros: Solid unit, built to last! Stupid simple to setup and use.

Cons: None really, but for the price it should have firewire also!

Other Thoughts: Using in jbod (4tb) as a iTunes library, and time machine for my mac's. No issues so far.

5 out of 5 eggsgood but could be better

Pros: Great and made good

Cons: Could be eSATA and contain and internal power supply. Hate the WALL WARTS (external power supplies).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat 2 bay external drive

Pros: Stupid easy set up - works exactly as advertised. Very quiet, stays on 24/7 with no issues. I use it with WinXP and Vista.

Cons: None at this point

Other Thoughts: Open trey, put screws in sata drive, put drive back into bay - rinse / repete. Attach power, USB and power up. No issues. If it really matters to you - this is USB, so there is really no point in putting anything other than a long term operation drive. The performance of usb is just nowhere near esata so don't get it if that is what you want.

I use Western Digital AV-GP WD10EVDS 1TB X 2 in JBOD for video and music storage. No heat issues - very quiet operation - made for long term operation.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat external enclosure

Pros: Trays are easy to use. It can support drives up to 2TB each using normal mode. Keeps drives cool. Well built case. Lights are not too bright. Can turn fan off using the switch in the back.

Cons: Fan is a little loud with only one drive inside.

Other Thoughts: My external hard drive started to make a very loud noise when it was left on for a little while. I did research and found out that it was overheating and could cause possible damage to the drive inside. I ordered this enclosure because it allowed using each drive separate or as one large drive. It also allows me to use 2 hard drives that are 2TB each while in normal mode. The fan may be a little loud, but keeping your drives working at normal temperatures is more important.

1 out of 5 eggsHuh?

Pros: I'll post after I receive the unit :)

Cons: OK, is it just me or is it BIZARRE that Kingwin does not sell additional trays for this unit...?
I ordered it with the hopes that I would eventually have 4 different trays so I could swap out a drive each week for a 4-week backup rotation.
Am I missing something? Why even HAVE removable trays if you can't get any more than the 2 it comes with! Maybe to yank a drive and take it with you on vacation for safe-keeping?
Apparently they want you to buy an entire new unit JUST to get additional trays - seems like such a waste!

Other Thoughts: I'm in for the long haul as I already ordered the unit and 2 drives, and it looks like I'll have to buy additional units just to scavenge the trays unless Kingwin can sell me some separately, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen based on the email I just got from them :(

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Enclosure

Pros: Solid construction, easy to use swapping trays.
Good indicators, lights show power and activity of each drive.
Very flexible, in BIG mode I have two 1TB drives combined to make 2TB of space, I emailed the manufacturer and they said it has a maximum of 4TB of combined space with two 2TB drives.

Cons: Only being available in USB is my only complaint.

Other Thoughts: I use this enclosure for backing up with Time Machine. I selected this one because it can expand to 4TB, which I'll eventually need. It works very well for this purpose.
