A new standard in power supplies is here; the Kingwin Lazer Platinum LZP-550 is one of the world’s first 80 Plus Platinum power supplies. It has achieved an efficiency rate of up to 92% under 50% load and is also able to “overclock” to 650W continuously at 80 Plus Gold spec. Kingwin LZP-550 also has a built in exclusive ECO Intelligent Thermal Control System, a zero noise operation for the power supply when first turned on. The fan will not rotate until the temperature reaches a default temperature between 65°C – 70°C. If you want absolute efficiency with supreme performance and quietness, the Kingwin LZP-550 is a terrific option.

  • newegg 80 PLUS Platinum Certified The 80 PLUS Platinum certified power supply provides ultra-high power efficiency of 92% at 50% load, 90% Efficiency at 20% load, 89% Efficiency at 100% load, saving your money on your electrical bill, reducing heat in your computer's system and prolonging its life.
  • newegg Overclockable Power with Single Strong +12V Rail Compliance with ATX 12V v2.2, EPS 12V v2.91, and SSI EPS 12V v2.92 Specification, the Kingwin LZP-550 is capable of delivering 550W of 80 PLUS Platinum certified, continuous output, or up to 650W continuous output at 80 PLUS Gold spec. A single high current +12V rail @ 45.5A design ensures the best compatibility and maximum provision of 12V power to multi-core CPUs and energy-hungry graphics cards.
  • newegg Crystal Cube Modular Plug w/ Power Connector Cable Management System The crystal cube modular connector cable design allows use of only the cables you need and easier cable routing inside the case, resulting in improved airflow and reduced system clutter.
  • newegg Supports High-End Graphic Cards 2x 6 Pin & 2x 6+2 Pin PCI-E connectors (one 6 Pin and one 6+2 Pin are modular) are included to support high-end graphic cards.
  • newegg 140mm Fan with Unique ECO Intelligent Thermal Control System Intelligent Auto Fan Speed Control on the large 140mm fan ensures exceptional cooling performance as well as minimum noise. Moreover, with Kingwin’s special ECO Intelligent Thermal Control System, the fan does not rotate until the temperature reaches a critical point (default temperature 65°C~70°C); the RPM of the fan will self-adjust according to the temperature maintaining a linear relationship. And when the temperature descends to a critical point (default temperature 45°C~50°C), the fan will stop rotating. This can significantly increase the life span of the fan and power efficiency by reducing unnecessary rotation and consumption.

3 out of 5 eggsDidn't last the distance

Pros: SIlent (probably never engaged the fan)
Efficient.
Apparently High quality.

Cons: Lasted two years with very light use. (2600K, internal graphics, 1 SSD, a few fans) About an hour every other night.

Powers on with a click and fans spin briefly but that's it. Dead.
Connected to a surge protector with TV, receiver etc.

Other Thoughts: Not buying this brand again, have emailed them with no reply.
Pathetic. Seasonic why did I ever leave you?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Power Supply

Pros: The fan can be set to stay on all the time and the design is modular.

Cons: The cables aren't exactly perfect to my desires, but I think the solution to this is to make your own (which is well beyond my tech skills).

Other Thoughts: I've had this for 1 1/2 years now (in fact, recommending it to a friend of mine) and I couldn't be happier.

I'm running a SSD, 2 Western Digital Black HD's, an high end motherboard (ASUS Sabertooth), 5 fans, an i7-3770K (not OC'ed), a Radeon HD 7950 (factory OC'ed) and 16gb of low voltage Samsung memory (also not OC'ed).

Absolutely no issues that I'd attribute to the power supply. In actuality, I have no issues of any kind (knock on wood).

I was hesitant when I first got this power supply, because I've always been an Antec fan and was also looking at Corsair.. but definitely no regrets on this purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: It's relatively quiet and I have always had stable power when I've checked the system. Modular cables area always a bonus.

Cons: The non-modular cpu cable was just barely long enough to get around the graphics card when I migrated this PSU to a new build. Other than that, no issues with it.

1 out of 5 eggsUnit failed

Pros: Nice Modular design

Cons: unit failed without warning after 1 year. Avg load was 20-35% in a file server. Pretty poor life in a non-gaming application. I expected a great deal more for the price.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed unit

Pros: Nice modular cables.

Cons: Unit failed after 1 yr of service @ 20-35% average load. Ambient never exceeded 90degF. Not Acceptable for such a high priced unit.

Cables are not very flexible for such an expensive unit

5 out of 5 eggsTotally silent and efficient PSU

Pros: Totally silent when using auto fan control and efficient PSU. Has been working great for more than a year, no issue at all!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I keep Intelligent Auto Fan Speed Control in ON position and the PSU is totally silent without any issue.
Configuration:
Corsair Obsidian Series Black 650D Mid Tower
Intel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core Processor
32GB DDR3 1600 (4x 8 GB Corsair Vengeance)

5 out of 5 eggsSolid PSU

Pros: More than enough juice at extremely high efficiency, and super quiet -- I've had this running for a few months now and I don't think the fan has had to spin up once. Modular cables with a universal connector.

Cons: Not all the cables are modular -- not really a big deal though, since I used all the ones that are fixed.

5 out of 5 eggsStill cranking along.

Pros: Quiet, mostly modular. Cables long enough to wind them around prettymuch everywhere in my case. Puts the power through. Almost 2 years running perfect.

Cons: Space on one line for SATA power sometimes a touch short for what I want to do. But then not everyone wants to put their CD/DVD on the same rail as a HDD. Maybe I shouldn't be so stupid as to put my DVD on the top bay.... Probably not a big deal to most. Just a nit pick that doesn't even bother me.

hey, it said "cons" didn't it?

Other Thoughts: Don't have the equipment to really find out how the rails are doing individually. I can say that it's been very stable for me through thick and thin. Can't say off hand if it improved my power bill. Stuffed this into a new box and just wanted to get something that's high quality. Most of my other psu's that I've gotten have lasted about this long and then died (poor magic blue smoke escaped, sometimes with a pop). This one is still happily running.

Things in my box that this PSU has to push along:
i5-2400 prettymuch left at highest multiplier all the time.
Only have 1x 120mm fan hooked onto my CPU cooler.
24 GB DDR3 1600 (2x 8 GB gskill and 2x 4 GB also gskill @ 9-9-9-21 timings, not overclocked)
ASRock P67 EXTREME4 (B3)
GTX 560ti default clock 850 (evga card) Occasionally pushed up over 900 Mhz (hope to upgrade to GTX 670, may update if this happens. Power draw seems to be the same if reviews are to be believed.)
3 HDD (WD black 2 TB, 750 and older 500) and 1 SSD (OCZ vertex 3 120 GB)
Standard DVD/CD burn 24x combo drive.
Logitec G500 mouse (I mention this because the power has to be pulled through the mobo.)
And a keyboard that I forgot the make and model that has red backlight. (Forgive me, writing this while I'm not at home to look)
Antec 300 case w/ 4 120mm fans (came with 3, bought 4th) and the 140mm. Mostly kept at medium speeds since my ears have apparently gotten sensitive about that in my old age.

1 out of 5 eggsShuts Down When Waking Computer From Sleep

Pros: Quiet, efficient, long cables

Cons: Shuts off when trying to wake computer from sleep.

Other Thoughts: I found the following about Kingwin Lazer PSUs at xbitlabs: "Although the standby source is rated for a high current, it is really inferior to most opponents with lower current ratings. This drawback can show up in systems with huge amounts of system memory (it is powered by the standby source in Suspend-to-RAM mode) or with a large number of devices powered by USB in sleep mode . . ."
