LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling is a new technology that offers consumers and businesses a simple, no-hassle way to burn professional, silkscreen-quality labels on their CDs.  Using the same laser that burns data in their disc drives, customers burn their data as always, flip the disc over, reinsert it into the drive and burn a precise and permanent iridescent label.

  • Burn music, digital photo albums, presentations and home movies directly on your CD.  Flip and Inscribe/Burn your customized label.  All with one laser — in one drive!
  • Available in a 5 color background assortment - Green, Blue, Orange, Red & Yellow.
  • Professional-quality labels: laser precision and detail means no more marker scrawl or adhesive labels to center, only to have them peel off the disc
  • Simplicity: no-hassle labels, just burn the disc, flip it and burn the label
  • Durability: the disc's image-ready coating is an integral part of its manufacture, providing long-lasting, scratch-resistant labels
  • Mobility: labels can be burned wherever and whenever a disc is burned, no need for a printer
  • Creativity: freedom to combine text and graphics in simple or complex labels that reflect one's personality and attitude

2 out of 5 eggsPicture of product is askew

Pros: Shipping was free and I got a discount, so I have no real complaints.

Cons: Picture of product looks like a 50pk instead of a 25pk. Although picture does show quantity of 25, so my bad for not looking closer.

5 out of 5 eggsBought these before, they're great!

Pros: - Verbatim has been known (to me) to have the least "dud" rates.

    - Along with Memorex, and Maxwell, Verbatim is a top tier brand to buy CD-R/RW's from, DVD-R/RW's too!

    - 52x, though my burner doesn't go that high. Just means less of a failure chance for me. haha

    Cons: - None!

Other Thoughts: I wish I had lightscribe :(

5 out of 5 eggsThese are great!

Pros: Great media from a trusted brand!

Cons: Be nice if the lightscribe discs were a bit brighter. The yellow is awesome, but the greens and blues could be better.

Other Thoughts: A lot of people complain about dead coasters from this pack, and other packs of other types/brands as well. You guys have got to realize that the discs aren't the only variable here. Your burner has everything to do with it too, your system itself, as well as the software you use.

I've never had a dead coaster from these packs on any of the systems I've built and sold to customers. Nor for my personal use. Burning the labels themselves can be buggy on some systems and older lightscribe software. I had an old system that wouldn't read or burn a label unless I made the label immediately after a fresh reboot for instance. Ended up being a driver conflict. Nothing to do with the discs at all. Just something for you reviewers to keep in mind. Verbatim is a great brand.

4 out of 5 eggsAdjusted Line Thickness To Darken Text

Pros: I bought these for converting some of my old vinyl record albums into audio CDs. I've used 13 of them so far and no coasters yet while using five different CD and DVD drives. I have a stack of regular Verbatim CD-R's that I got a few years ago too and I don't think they've resulted in any coasters either.

Cons: The lightscibed side of the CDs show fingerprints something fierce. It took me 8 tries at making faint cruddy looking labels until I found the way to get it done right.

For some reason when I increased my line thickness with the increase contrast setting the picture that was to printed on the disc with the text didn't print. I switched the lightscribe contrast back to normal and didn't have that problem again.

Other Thoughts: Like many others here I was having the problem of getting the text dark enough to read. The increase contrast option in the lightscribe control panel didn't help. Then I found an option to change the line thickness in my software (some version of Nero) and that did the trick just fine. For 10-12 point font I upped the line thickness from the default 0.05mm to 0.15 and for 28-36 point font I upped it to 0.35. That made for nice dark text.

    1 out of 5 eggs. . .

    Pros: Cheap in cost...

Cons: The first two CD's I inserted did not read or register for my CD burner... It was the top CD and one in the middle. So i put in a different brand and the first different brand worked.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if I'll even bother trying the rest of the CD's

    4 out of 5 eggsLightscribe Colored CD-R's

Pros: I think I had only one bad disc out of all of them.

Cons: Some of the colors are to dark. Lightscribe works well with light backgrounds.

Other Thoughts: Lightscribe is fun but takes to long to print almost 25 minutes each disc.
