5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

Pros: Perfect burns every single time. What's a coaster? No other disc comes close.

Cons: Still 4-5x more expensive than Verbatim single layer discs. Rarely find 'em on sale and/or with free shipping!

Other Thoughts: Someday I'll just back everything up on HDD or flash drives, but until then, I know I can depend on Verbatim DVDs to keep my stuff safe.

5 out of 5 eggsBackups

Pros: ONLY DL Drive that is pure QUALITY. I get almost no errors when burning backups on my modded Liteon IHAS unlike other brands that have a lot higher failure rate & they also have reading issues on drives that are wearing down while verbatims would still work

Cons: I hate having to spend 2x to 3x the amount of other brands but at the end fo the day it's definitely worth it in the short & long run

1 out of 5 eggsLOL @ the price

Pros: They are very good quality and rarely if ever produce a coaster.

Cons: PRICE. Not only were they expensive, now they are even more expensive. They were 49.99, now they are 54.99. Plus shipping. LOL! You can buy 2x 50 packs of Optical Quantums and get the same exact results. I recently ordered these Verbatim 97000s and also got a spindle of Optical Quantum DL DVD+R, which were half the price of these, just to try them out. To my amazement, the Optical Quantums worked perfectly when burning XGD2 and XGD3 game backups. You just need to use the right settings in imgburn. Perform OPC before write 'on', Force Hyper-Tuning 'off', Online Hyper-Tuning 'on', Overspeed 'off' and Smart Burn 'on'. Select '4x' write speed. No need to force 2.4x with these. I even burned one successfully at 8x, but 4x is better. For XGD3 games, use the Burnermax Payload tool. And make sure you have a Lite-On ihas or a re-branded ihas burner so you can manipulate these settings. I have an Asus DRW-24B1ST, which is a re-branded Lite-On ihas124-04 rev. C. I burned 40 out of 40 perfect Xbox 360 backups with the Optical Quantums. I have 10 left and am expecting similar results. They use the same exact AZO dye as the Verbatims. You are paying twice as much just for the name.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy these again. And not because it is a bad product. Sure, they work 100% of the time. But, I have found a suitable alternative that works 100% of the time as well with both XGD2 and XGD3 games and also happens to be half the price. If the quality is there and the price is cheaper, I'm going to buy those. It is what you may call a "no-brainer". If you have an ihas burner and make Xbox 360 backups, give the Optical Quantums a try with the settings I mentioned above. You will be pleasantly surprised. Verbatim might just lose a ton of business because of them. They lost me as a customer because of their ridiculous price gouging. I'll take my 56 dollars plus 4 for shipping and buy 100 Optical Quantums, thank you very much!

5 out of 5 eggsRaised the price on an already overpriced item?

Pros: I was halfway through a 50 pack spindle of the 97000's when I decided to check if there was some kind of sale or rebate on these. When I got them, they were 50 plus 3 shipping. Now they are 55. That little price hike caused me to get them elsewhere. I got them for 48 plus 2 shipping from an online auction site which will remain nameless.

Cons: PRICE WAS ALREADY TOO HIGH!!!! NOW YOU RAISED IT???? COME ON!!!!

Other Thoughts: I will refuse to buy them from newegg until they lower the price. You aren't the only store that sells them.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Coasters So Far

Pros: No coasters as of yet. Using most to burn 360 backups and so far so good.

Cons: None as of yet, will update if that changes

5 out of 5 eggsXbox 360, Burnermax's best friend

Pros: After coasterizing 3 Sony discs while trying to burn a "XGD3" game, I decided to get the all-mighty undisputed champ Verbatim "MKM-003" "AZO" dye discs. At first, I thought these discs were overrated and over priced and that all DVD+R's are the same. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I will never buy any other brand, in fact, I will only get this exact type, 97000, from now on. Anything else is a waste of money. Other discs may work, but these work 100% of the time. I'd rather have 10 out of 10 than 5 out of 10.

Cons: Price. $55, or a little over $1 per disc means they are more expensive than 25GB Blu Ray blanks. But for the yield you get, it is worth it since no other brand can do what these do.

Other Thoughts: I was using an old IDE Sony DVD writer and imgburn to burn these games. Despite what you may have read, a Lite On ihas is not required. My DVD burner is a Sony DRU-840A, but I'm pretty sure that any burner with at least 2MB of cache will work. All the new ihas burners have 1.5MB and most laptop burners are 1MB. I was successful with the Sony discs when making XGD2 back ups, but couldn't get a single XGD3 game to finish without an error. Also, if you are just backing up data or making DVD movies, other brands are just fine. It is only when you use the burnerbax payload tool that these discs are required. If you are making XGD3 back ups, don't try to save money by buying Sony or some other brand, just get these. They will be cheaper in the long run simply because of less coasters.
