3 out of 5 eggsWhat Changed?

Pros: I have used TDK DL 8X for many hundreds of burns. I loved them (past tense).

Cons: I finally got to the third package of 50 and they looked different. Indeed, when I tried to burn them the speed options that Nero posted were 2.4x and 4x; instead of 4x and 8x! I guess this means on to a different brand.

1 out of 5 eggsAlot of coasters

Pros: Some disks have burned fine.

Cons: 75-80 % of the first of two spindles I bought have turned to coasters a very few minutes into a burn. Wondering if the 2nd spindle will be as bad as this one.

Other Thoughts: What a waist of plastic and my dollars.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy 9 out of 10 were coasters

Pros: No Pros

Cons: I thought it was my drive so I bought another internal drive, then also bought an external drive. After spending a lot of extra money I found out it was the disks. I should have read the reviews before I bought These disks. Many other people have the same issues with these disks. Newegg should just give them away and never sell them again. They are a very very bad experience. The first I ever had with newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsTDK 8.5GB 8X DVD+R DL 50 Packs

Pros: Cheap

Cons: 1 in every 3-4 are coasters. Overburning results in an error finalizing the disc every time.

Other Thoughts: I've bought hundreds of these disks over the past couple years and I will not be buying from TDK again. The discs I previously bought from them show a media ID of quality Ritek discs, and these show as cheap Memorex discs which is probably the root cause of the downfall in quality.

1 out of 5 eggsgetting frequent write errors on this media

Pros: none

Cons: Experiencing about a 33% failure rate on these dvd's. Getting messages that program experienced a write error and to check the media. Won't be buying TDK in the future. Strange because previous batch of these dvd's worked perfectly, which was why I bought again. Previous batch TDK dvd's was purchased approx 14 months ago.

5 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: I have burned over 70 DVDs using this TDK media and have not had a single failure so far. While I can't yet comment on the shelf/storage life of these DVDs, I would readily buy more.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I am not at all sure what may be the problem others are reporting and I am puzzled that there seem to be several with major complaints. I have used these on at least two different systems having different generations of ASUS writers.. again, no problems so far.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible Product

Pros: Disks are on the cheaper side. Plenty of writing space on the top.

Cons: Very low success rate. We're talking 1 out of 10 disks had a successful burn.

Other Thoughts: I've used several brands of blank disks, and these are by far the worst performers I've come across. I came really close to returning them when I got to my 10th failed burn attempt. Save your money and shop elsewhere.

1 out of 5 eggsA third of these were bad

Pros: Cheap

Cons: I've gotten this exact brand in the past. up till this last batch I have great luck. but this last time over a third were defective. I have 3 superdrives. tried the defective ones on at least 2 of them. I would no longer recommend these.

2 out of 5 eggsTDK 8.5GB DVD+RL 50 Pack

Pros: Price and rated burning speed.

Cons: Of the first 25 discs I have used 8 would not burn on a Pioneer 207 and/or 209 Blu-Ray Burners. I also had them fail on Sony DVD Burners. At least 4 of the discs that that did burn "OK" would not play on an OPPO Blu-Ray player or an OPPO DVD player or a Sony Blu-Ray player. I don't know how many more will turn up bad but they are highly suspect.

Other Thoughts: I use TDK 50 GB and 25 GB 2x Blu-Ray rewritable disks all the time and never had a problem. I thought I would try the DVD DL disks one more time based on price - big mistake. I'm back using Verbatim DVD DL 8x discs and all is well. You get what you pay for unfortunately.
