Pros: The first 30-40 disc seemed to work as Data Disc and as Music Disc no problem. I burned many a Data and Music CD's, then as I got closer to disc 50 they stopped working for some odd reason.

Cons: I'm not sure if it's a maufacturing problem or what but as I got closer to the center of the disc it was like 50/50 if they would work as Data and or Music disc. I tried them on all 3 of my computers with the same outcome. Besides being very difucult to know which side is which, there's no writing on the up side of the disc so don't forget which side was which when you pull one out. It's best to mark them ASAP when you pull one off the spindle with some type of indicator mark from a Sharpie felt marker to be safe. I'm giving the last half a chance to see if I just ran into a bad batch or whatever. I'm going to pull them from diferant locations on the spindle to see if the rest are going to be coasters too. I'm really disappointed with Verbatim with this shipment as I have had too many mishaps lately. When they work there great and a real cost saver, no need to spend another $10.00 for brand name disc, but this problem I have I wish Verbatim would post a reply to my concerns.

Other Thoughts: I will buy again when I run out but the first coaster I get I'm returning them to New Egg ASAP and spend the extra cash on proven disc formats and there capabilities. And then I can make an more informed decision before I trust Verbatim again. I got them on sale and it would cost me more to ship back with a RMA and pay the postage for the heavy item alone, shipping 4-5lbs is not cheap with any carrier.

Pros: Faster than expected delivery to Eastern Canada - 3 days (ordered Tuesday, received Friday).
No Shipping damage, spindle intact.
Good tracking information.

Cons: No Cons at this time

Other Thoughts: Appears an excellent value, being under the cost of a comparable100 spindle of DVD-R (shipping included). Not sure how they can sell at this price considering the twenty-nine cents per blank CD levy in Canada - driven by the CPCC! Possibly with these being designated as "OEM"??

Some tradeoff with lack of a writing surface, but as commented a suitable permanent marker will do. Top vs bottom should not be an issue as they have a hub ridge on laser side ("bottom"), plus printed characters around the hub on the top side.

Note that packaging indicates these products are made in China. Not sure if this is the case for all Verbatim media these days.

Pros: Excellent price for CDs that don't come out coasters.

Cons: None yet. NO coasters.

Other Thoughts: I bought these on sale because of the great Newegg price and because the brand I had been using was no longer available. These work just fine. There are some complaints about not being able to tell which side is which. Well, the "label" side has some numerical data around the hub that is not on the "back". If you lose track of which side is which, you can definitely tell by carefully looking at the data/area around the hub. I will buy several hundred more of these the next time that they are on sale.

Pros: My discs arrived in perfect condition. I've only burned a few discs so far (for music), and all of them have worked. No coasters. Good basic discs at a good price.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: You can find 100 pack CD-Rs at a lower price, but some of those only come in a plastic shrink wrap package. Many people find that this type of packaging falls apart during shipping and the discs get damaged.

Fortunately, these discs have a spindle through the middle of the discs and a locking lid/cover.

Pros: Cheep, no coasters yet. Seem to be good quality.

Cons: Found out that Silver Top OEM means NO coating of any kind on the top surface. No silver paint to write on. A Sharpie will In fact write on the smooth plastic surface, but it is nearly impossible to tell the top surface from the bottom laser writing surface visually. When you take them off the spindle, keep them oriented top up or you will have to let the CD Drive tell you if you got it in right side up. If the drive does not recognize the disk, flip it over and try again. Alternatively, you could write your label on the disk as you take it off the spindle, so you will know which way is up. Other than that, both top and bottom sides look the same.

This may or may not be an issue depending on your application.

Pros: I can burn music to these

Cons: Case showed up completely smashed, but the discs looked ok.

Pros: These all burned perfectly so far with zero defective. They burn at a decent speed too. You can also write anything on the top of the disc without logos and lines and symbols and other nonsense in your way.

Cons: It's almost impossible to tell if a disc is burned or not by looking at the bottom due to its transparency. Also, the spindle arrived completely shattered with the bottom totally demolished.

Other Thoughts: They could definitely pad the thing better prior to shipping it!

Pros: Used them all up and never a bad one.

Cons: None.

Pros: I've used these silver shiners for the last couple years and have yet to have a coaster come out of them. I have not had any durability issues, they play fine for audio in my car (unlike every other store brand I've tried at 3x the price).

Cons: the complainers

Other Thoughts: I haven't seen negative reviews for these until the recent months, perhaps these folks ran into a bad batch -- but for most of us, it's never come up.

Pros: My department uses these disk for records requests. We burn a PDF on to them, hit them with a label maker and send them on their way. I've purchased well over 10 spindles and have had 2 coasters. I've never recieved a request back from the field stating there was an issue with the disk.

Cons: The only con is that to the untrained eye, both sides look identical. Be sure to label one side early!

Other Thoughts: For the price per disk, there's really no better value.
