5 out of 5 eggsCan't Beat the Price or Quality

Pros: Haven't had a Coaster yet. TDK has alway had good suppliers for there disks. I known one user stated that Newegg had commit fraud by calling them TDK when another company made the disk. As each disk has TDK trademark and like most manufacturer have Job shop make there low end products. The disk were made by Imation Corp .
BUT there Still a TDK product.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: Some people need to wake up on how company run.

5 out of 5 eggsTDK BD-R Disks

Pros: No coasters yet. Burned about 10 so far. Price can't be beat especially on sale at $19.99. Using Nero 12 and LG drive. Can't see what all the negative reviews are all about. So what if they are Ritek? How many disk manufactures are there? Just like hard drives are rebranded. I will buy more as soon as they are on sale again.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Looking for sale again.

1 out of 5 eggsRebadged Ritek -- Data loss

Pros: Successful burns, no issues.

Cons: Have been reading reviews of the same media ID having data loss after a year or more. Too bad I didn't notice this before I bought them. I am not willing to chance by data on a hope that it will last.

5 out of 5 eggs4x is the Charm

Pros: Cheap 50 pack - Liteon 12x bruner

Cons: Many say they suck, but if you burn @ 4x no fails... I always burn my Blurays @ 4x cause they are not CDs that costs pennys, Those that have problems try slower speeds and you will be good. 20 mins at 4x is not to long to save on coasters.

1 out of 5 eggsWhy isn't this fraud???

Pros: Most discs burn without problem. Fairly cheap.

Cons: NOT real TDKs...Disguised Ritek BR2. Given the bad reports found about those, I do not trust them one bit for my archives and family memories. I have almost 150 discs left that I do not trust...

Other Thoughts: Why isn't it considered fraud to pass a product for another one? I bought TDKs, and got Ritek discs...In any other domain, this would be false representation. As a dumbo, I bought three boxes over Black Friday, thinking I was getting "professional" TDKs for my archives and family videos...Then found later they were NOT TDKs but a relabeled disc with a poor reputation. I should have kept the $30 to put on some Verbatim, it seems, but I thought I was going to even higher quality by going TDK. Guess I will take a break from TDK and Newegg for a while...

2 out of 5 eggsPass on these

Pros: Good for throw away discs or testing. The fact these are Ritek discs I wouldn't trust these for any kind of archiving.

Cons: RITEK.BR2, If I had known that this was Ritek media with a TDK brand on it I would have put the $30 towards some Verbatim's.

Other Thoughts: Look like all media manufactures have outsourced their production. So I guess we'll see 2, 5, 10 years from know if these are still readable. By then hopefully I can archive on crystals or holograms.

4 out of 5 eggsTDK 25GB 4X BD-R 50 Pack

Pros: Good quality media. Actually checks out to be Ritek.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Price was good on sale from the Egg with free shipping. Works fine with both my Lite On BD burners as well as my lone LG BD burner

3 out of 5 eggsNot Bad

Pros: $30 for a 50 pack. TDK

Cons: Ritek BR2-000. Some people say these suck

Other Thoughts: While I hear that Ritek BR2 are not that good, I have used media from other manufactures with the same code without a problem. Imation, Memorex, Maxell and Ridata all use Ritek BR2 for their BD media. I get about 1 out of 25 fails to burn with these Riteks.

For the Quantums people love I have had more problems with them than these Riteks. My first backup were with the Quantums and now they don't play while my Maxell from the same time still play perfect.

The only media I will trust my long term backup on are Smart Blu (wish New Egg carried them).

1 out of 5 eggsCheap but beware

Pros: I got these on cyber Monday sale for 29.99 a spindle. Now that I look back on what their media code is, I think 29.99 is way too expensive

Cons: These are Disc ID: RITEK-BR2-000. What does this mean? They will fail, PERIOD. The dye used sucks, and fails anywhere from a month to a year later. This same dye has been used for 3-4 years now and they still have not fixed the issues with it. I sadly bought 4 spindles of these thinking I would be saving money. Instead I might as well burned the cash instead of buying these.

Other Thoughts: If you want inexpensive media, the optical quantum have not failed me yet. I have been using them for 2-3 years with no issues, and only fails are when my burner takes a dump. Stay away from these unless Newegg is giving them away for free.

1 out of 5 eggsRebadged Ritek discs with a bad reputation

Pros: Relatively cheap when on sale
Nice cakebox packaging
Might work well for short term/non-archival purposes

Cons: Disks received have RITEK-BR2-000 media ID codes, which if you search have very, very bad reputations. They may burn succesfully initially but after a short period of time can develop failures or die completely. It's part of the game of optical media now that so many companies just resell whatever they get cheap -- so your order may have a totally different type of discs than mine-- but given the poor reputation I'm not going to trust these. It's unfortunate that even though I haven't burned any of these discs that I can't return to Newegg because I had to open them to confirm what the Media ID code was.

Other Thoughts: I bought these discs as a test during the Black Friday sale. I did some searching and couldn't find much information about the actual Media ID (i.e., who REALLY makes the disc as TDK and Imation are just resellers). I did find that discs with TDK media IDs have generally good reputations and since these were labelled "Professional" I was hopeful that they'd be the best TDK could sell. I was pretty unhappy when I discovered that the discs inside were RITEK-BR2-000 which have horrible reputations for poor quality burns and prematurely failing after as little time as a few months to a year. I'm glad I didn't pay too much for them but had I known the Media ID I NEVER would have ordered them and instead stuck with the Verbatim discs I normally use.
