3 out of 5 eggsUse for video only

Pros: I have about a 150 of these floating around in my house. As video DVDs they are alright, but seem to scratch easier than others, but if you have a later model Playstation 2 it can over come these problems. I would not trust them for valuable data as they seem to have a shorter shelf life than other DVDs that I have used.

They burn well, I haven't had a problem putting data on the disk, just getting it off was a problem at times.

Cons: Not as reliable as other DVD-Rs.

Other Thoughts: I use an ancient Pioneer DVR-105 so your results may vary.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all for the price

Pros: Outstanding price, quality is not bad for the price. I can't say how well they print as most of the time I label them with a Sharpie marker. These work great with my Emerson EWR10D4 DVD Recorder for copying home video from the camcorder or recording TV shows (non-copyrighted shows only, ha). Will have to buy a new recorder when they quit making 8x as that is the fastest media this Emerson will support.

Cons: Usually have about 3 to 4 bad discs out of 100, the rest work fine. I can usually spot the bad ones before using them. They will have a small discolored or faded spot near the edge on the recordable side.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst printable media I've found

Pros: I have nothing positive to say about the spindle of 100 Legacy printable DVD-R discs I received from NewEgg. Not only were they a waste of money, I wasted a tremendous amount of time printing to about half of the discs in the spindle before finally just throwing the rest away.

Cons: I have used many different brands of printable media in the past two years and printed over 1,200 discs in that time -- the printable surfaces of these Legacy discs is the worst I've encountered. Many of the discs either faded or took on a "radioactive" look within a few days of printing (I have never had this problem in the past with printable media). Additionally, all 100 of the Legacy discs in the spindle contained a defect -- the surface of the printable area was not completely smooth in the final few millimeters around the center hole. Rather than waste expensive printer ink on discs that faded and looked lousy, I threw the final 45 discs in the garbage.

Other Thoughts: I threw away 45 of the 100 discs. I was reluctant to use these printable Legacy discs as non-printable blank DVDs because I feared that using these discs without ink coating the printable surface would lead to flaking of the defective surface and to the accumulation of dust on the lens (and in the working mechanism) of my DVD players. Coincidentally, while working with these defective Legacy discs, one of my DVD players stopped recognizing discs. It became the first DVD player out of the 9 that I own to cease functioning properly.

4 out of 5 eggsBurns with no coasters now!

Pros: I have bought about 5 spindles of these DVDs and have found that when burned at 4xs they will always burn good. Also kill all not needed processes on your computer when burning and all will be well. After I figured that out, I burn 100 out of 100 discs with no coasters.

Cons: Shipping went from $5 - $8. (Still the best deal out there for printable DVDs though)

Other Thoughts: These are the best bang for your buck on the market.

4 out of 5 eggsPlease lower Shipping I need more

Pros: Cheap, printable, just as good as other brands. No problems with Epson R300

Cons: Printablecoating gets on outer edges of some of the dvds (5-8 out of 100). 3 out of 100 failed to burn and/or read after the burn process. $8.69 shipping

Other Thoughts: Even with the low failure rate these these are a good buy.

2 out of 5 eggsquality got so bad...

Pros: cheap, used to be good

Cons: got my first 100 pack a year ago and was very happy with it, although last disks in the pack started to have these scratches and white stuff on the outer border. Got a new pack recently and they all are scratched and marked with white paint on the outer edge.. can record about 4G at 2x, the last .5G is usually bad

Other Thoughts: given more than 10% of the disk is bad, I guess I could find a slightly more expensive but more reliable disks.. got to spend some time researching now...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This makes about 300 to 400 of these I have ordered. I must say that for the price, speed, and the volume, you just can't beat it. I have bought name brand discs from the store and have coastered more than these. I highly recommend them.

Cons: No cons really. They have gone up a few bucks over the past year.
