5 out of 5 eggsordered in 2008 still going strong

Pros: might be a little late to heap praises now but its been powering a gaming PC in use since 2008 nearly 24/7 and still going strong well into its second build.

Cons: its lasted so long it makes me worry about when it finally fails and i have to replace it.

5 out of 5 eggsLong-lasting

Pros: I never really have very power-hungry hardware, so I didn't need the most powerful PSU. I've had this model since early 2008 (yes, 6 years!) and it's never failed. Originally used it with an Athlon X2 240/HD3870 and then a Phenom X2 555/HD6850 setup since 2012 and still going strong and quiet.

Cons: A lot of people seem to have reported buzzing noises. I haven't experienced any of those, so maybe I've been lucky there. It also only comes with a single PCI-E 6-pin plug instead of an 8/6-pin combo plug, but really if you're going to have a graphics card pulling enough power to need an 8-pin connector you should probably get a higher-power PSU anyway.

Other Thoughts: When (if?) this thing finally dies I'm definitely going to look at another Corsair model.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing power supply

Pros: This power supply has done its job and has done it well for a couple of years.
-Reliable: has never failed since it began powering my desktop in early 2010
-It can handle a lot. At one point it was running my HD 4890 and E8400 and still ran strong

Over the summer this power supply would usually be running all day, ever day. It continues to power an older desktop I installed it in.

Cons: -Expect to hear a buzzing noise from this power supply. Certain Corsair models are known to make the noise. I have used the same vx450w in two different computers and heard the buzzing noise in both setups. One was an LGA 775 desktop and right now it is powering an AMD Socket A desktop.

Note that when your system uses more power the noise should become quieter. The less power it is outputing the louder it gets. When I removed my HD 4770 and put in the HD 4890 into my LGA 775 board the noise level of the buzzing went down tremendously. When my CPU load is high the noise usually disappeared completely.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair Rocks

Pros: I have had this for almost two years now and not a single problem with it. IMHO Corsair is in the top 5 for best quality PSU's, you won't go wrong with this brand. High quality components that last.

Cons: none at all

4 out of 5 eggsToo Expensive

Pros: The cables are protected and are nice. It works fine.

Cons: Too expensive for only 450W.

Other Thoughts: Despite what the name says, I wouldn't recommend only 450W for an i7 system, unless you plan on having a less than gaming grade graphics card. Good for a basic home user PC.

1 out of 5 eggsNever received rebate

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Low Quality.

Other Thoughts: Never received rebate and after searching online it was declined with no valid reason. Will never buy anything from corsair again.

2 out of 5 eggsOh Well....

Pros: It powers my rig and so far no fire.

Cons: It has a strange but faint buzzing noise. It was intermittent at first but now it's buzzing all the time. Something on the board causing it. It's not the cooling fan.
I've already RMA'd the PSU and gotten a replacement from Corsair but the replacement is doing the same thing!! Here I go again with the RMA process!
In the mean time I got a replacement PSU from another brand and it is totally silent.

Other Thoughts: I've typically looked to Corsair for quality products but this experience has me thinking I should think more about other brands. Oh well...

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The power supply works just like its supposed to. Plastic zip ties included and has an assortment of plugs for all your needs.

Cons: I too hear the slighty buzzing sound as other reviews have mentioned. Hard to hear if you are playing a game or listening to music, but once the sound is down, you can definitely hear it.

Other Thoughts: I am bummed about the buzz sound but don't care enough to go through the whole return/rma process so I am just dealing with it and hoping it might go away one day.
