2 out of 5 eggs3 Years and Dead!

Pros: disappointed!

Cons: Died on me 4/18/2014, so far I'm very surprised and very disappointed with Corsair product dying on me within 2-3 years as this is a second Corsair product!

Other Thoughts: I just hope that this Corsair 1000HX I purchase is a bad one and not a "refurbish"

4 out of 5 eggsGood PSU for the money

Pros: The efficiency is a huge plus when you are using a lot of power, and you don't want to shell out a lot on your energy bills. At the time (when I did my first build with this in 2011), this was a great PSU that could handle everything you could throw at it. The modularity was also a big plus.

Cons: Died after three years of service. It was fine one minute, and the next it was dead. I came back from the store, and noticed the PC was off. I reset the PSU, and turned it on. No post with CPU_LED lit. I finally troubleshooted it to the PSU. The PSU no longer supplied power to my CPU.

Other Thoughts: I bought a HX1050 while my HX1000 is being RMA'd, and I must say I am impressed with their improvements. It is smaller, doesn't need the fan at loads less than 40%, and has a cool retro look to it.

The single 1050 12v rail is a bonus too.

5 out of 5 eggsAmasing

Pros: It lasted me about 8 years, no regrets, getting another Corsair PSU

Cons: When it died the smell was scary.

Other Thoughts: I got this for my first ever PC build, it's gone through 3 motherboards and CPUs, 2 Cases and like 4 GPUs

1 out of 5 eggsI cannot believe this happened!

Pros: None That I can think of... I am surprised this PSU was dead on arrival.
I have a couple more and they are working fine.

Cons: I purchased one of this for my son, he saved for almost 2 years to build a powerful gaming PC, so after he was able to purchase all of the components, we assembled the PC and the PSU was dead, yes we did all the trouble shooting, (I am a Telecommunications and Electronics Engineer) but I guess I'll be testing everything in advance from now on, lesson learned.

Other Thoughts: Contacted Corsair Technical Service, they granted a quick RMA with expedite replacement and a prepaid UPS label for returning the bad unit.
I believe Corsair's customer support is A+.
I never had the experience of receiving something defective in the past, especially from a reputable brand. My advice, test your equipment in advance if possible.
Thank you and please forgive my poor English.

1 out of 5 eggsBad out of the box!

Pros: I found it for half price at a local store.

Cons: Out of the box I noticed what smelled like something had been burned, but I wrote it off and put this in my case (after having to tear out my old unit and it was zip tied for cable management, so that sucked) as I was installing the 24 pin connector I saw BURN MARKS on the +5 (yellow) wire! I pulled the thing out and have started the RMA process with Corsair. This is DOA and I won't risk running it in that state in my computer!
Shame on you, Corsair! QC needs to wake up and pay closer attention!

Other Thoughts: Seems good, if not a little old design. If mine didn't have this problem I would have given it 5.

1 out of 5 eggsGood RMA, Bad product

Pros: RMA is straight forward & they should stick to making mid-tier memory.

Cons: 2010-07 Purchase PSU.

2011-05 Goes up in smoke in. Don't ask why, I don't know. Glad I was around to unplug and avoid an electrical fire. 1st RMA. 60$ shipping to California. Things happen, no biggie, must be unlucky I guess.

2011-06 2nd PSU received.

2012-05 2nd PSU starts failing progressively. I notice the more I tax it, the more it fails. I run setup below, it shouldnt have a problem powering it. First rail can barely power my CPU, periodically decides to run a single 6950, if I am lucky.

2012-07 Condition worsens, PSU never runs anything beyond post, sometimes doesn't have power for MB. 2nd RMA. 60$ shipping to California. Irritated. PSU cost me 420$ by now. Corsair unwilling to pay shipping both ways. I tell them they should have sent me a working unit to avoid this . Will not stand behind their products & customers.

2012-08 3rd PSU received from RMA. Powers setup like it should. Has loud whine from the get go. 3rd RMA started. 60$ more shipping to California?

Other Thoughts: (continued)

2012-08 PSU will have cost me 480$ by now. Enermax, PC Power and Cooling and Kingwin sell 1500W PSUs for less than this. This could be a simple manufacturing defect, I understand. Regardless, this will be the last PSU I purchase from Corsair.

Pros: Modular and reliable

Cons: Fan made a noise almost from the beginning, replaced it with another fan and its been silent for the last 3 years.

Other Thoughts: I gotta give corsair props on this PSU over 3 years of continuous use and its still solid as a rock .

I think its laughing at my i5 setup

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair, "Always the best when it comes to the test.

Pros: I have only ever used Corsair PSU's in my builds (5) and have always been more than satisfied. Three months ago my HX1000 started to get a little annoying after two years with noise from the circulating fan so I contacted Corsair. (I had been ready to order a replacement as I could not afford down time).
Naturally they came through, took my credit card info and sent along a new PSU, a HX1050 that arrived in three days, and NO shipping charge.
"Corsair, always the best when it comes to the test"
Thank you Corsair
Distime8

Cons: Zero

Other Thoughts: I now use Corsair CPU coolers (H80) and their Vengeance Memory. I am a happy camper.
