5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Power supply

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Fits perfectly in my 8 year old ATX case. The fact that it's modular really helps reduce clutter since you only need to use the cables you need. It has connections for just about anything you could put in your computer, and then some! Extremely quiet. And it has a power button on the back, something my old power supply didn't have

Cons: The manual is pretty lightweight, but there really isn't much more you need to know than what's on the box.

Other Thoughts: I switched from a Cooler Master PSU, which was good for what it did, but I'll be buying Corsair PSUs from now on. Great brand!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU. Wish it was fully modular

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Great looking power supply. Fired up with no issues.

Cons: Wish it was fully modular and that the cables were individually sleeved.

Other Thoughts: For the price it's a great power supply. Being as I spent two grand on my machine I think in the future I would go with an AX series or another power supply that were fully modular (you really can't beat the individually sleeved cables).

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Nice looking

Cons: Had a problem with the build & took it to a tech. Spent $200 to find out the PS had an intermittent voltage problem. Otherwise the system fired properly for a few minutes. I am on a deadline for system upgrade at my business & unfortunately past 30 days. So not stuck buying another PS for the sake of time. I really can't tell you about one that worked.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Works totally fine. Never have any problems with it. Runs quietly, all of my components get enough power. No complaints!

Cons: None, really. I guess it would be nice if it was totally fan-less? There pretty much are no options at for that at this wattage, though, so it's obviously not a real con.

Other Thoughts: I wrote an earlier review where I appreciated the PSU generally but complained about fan noise. That was my mistake. I wish I could edit my earlier review, but I had to write a new one instead. The noise that I thought was coming from my PSU was actually coming from two tiny motherboard assistant fans with my Z77 Sabertooth. I thought I had them set not to run, but apparently they spin up to full speed regardless at certain temps. I had control over all of my fans besides my PSU, which is why I suspected the PSU. Whoops! Sorry Corsair.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat PS, lacking documentation

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Lots of modular options, seems to be working as expected.

Cons: Out of the box, this didn't work. At least, I didn't think it did. A quick power up test...aka plugging it into a wall and hooking a few fans to it provided no power.

Nowhere does the documentation state this P/S requires the 24 pin to be connected for it to run AT ALL. I didn't get to a phone call state as I'm pretty good at these things and it crossed my mind that it might need that, so I tested it. Most users would have just considered this DOA. I should have.

Other Thoughts: One egg off for extremely lacking documentation, and a power supply that requires a mobo to power anything else.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Impressive. This product came packaged as if it were intended for royalty. Amazing cable management- a small bag full of interchangeable cables so you only make use of what you need, without needlessly cluttering your case. Couldn't be more pleased with how this was delivered.

Cons: None.
