This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Looks cool and feels like it's good quality.

Cons: Oh boy. Where to start?

I've had this PSU since 2012 and today my computer randomly started to restart when I tried to fire up a game (a pretty common sign of a failing power supply). I am running a GTX 780 with an i5 2500k at the moment and the HX850 is more than enough to power it. I was running a GTX 480 on it for a long time until I upgraded to the 780, but by no means did I ever run this PSU past it's capabilities.

That's a bit ridiculous for the amount of money I paid for this PSU. Corsair really does have to be the most overrated company in the PC business because their products are marketed as more than they really are and their customer service blows. I contacted them in regards to my problem and although I talked to a representative, they randomly stopped contacting me back. Seriously? I am never buying another Corsair product ever again.

Other Thoughts: Avoid.

1 out of 5 eggsCorsair warranty???

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Until it died it performed great! The unit is very quiet and power regulation is very steady, doesn't seem to produce much heat when under load.

Cons: Died just over a year with fairly light use. I bought this because of the price at the time and I thought I may try SLI in the near future. Very disappointed with the warranty turn around time, unit has been at Corsair for 2 weeks now and the status still shows as being processed. They have an option for expedited turn around and I wish I'd done that.

Other Thoughts: I've had to use Corsair 2 times now for warranty issues and both times were terrible experiences. I'll definitely do my homework and shop around for my next build which probably won't include Corsair.

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Running 7 months now and now problems.
Supplying 2x GTX760s, an Intel 4570, 16GB RAM, a couple of SSDs, and several fans.
Supplies more than enough power for mild overclocking.
Scales power and noise very well.
Comes with nice carry bag and lots of extra stuff.

Cons: Big

Other Thoughts: Was impressed with quality.

1 out of 5 eggs3 months, broken, cannot RMA it

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Worked well for three months. Then starts surging.

Cons: Only worked well for 3 months, no option to RMA it here so now I have to contact corsair. About to go buy a new one and refrain from using corsair in the future because this seems to be a recurring issue. And Ive always supported corsair. Sad.

Other Thoughts: Meh

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Very easy to set up, clean and professional.

Cons: I purchased this PSU with my new build in december.
It is now April and it is not working as intended. I believe the fan has stopped working correctly and thats causing it to overheat and the system shuts down to avoid damage.

Other Thoughts: Going to try to get this RMA'd today. Pretty not cool that Ill have to wait 2-3 weeks to ever get it back, especially when I work half the day from home for my company.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Just got this today, installed and hey it works. Looks real nice as far as build quality and the blue matches the inside of my build. Super quiet compared to my old p/s. This Corsair measures about 54 decibel as far as noise is concerned, my old p/s was about 78 dB. Now it is nice and quiet in the room (used an app on my phone) Being semi modular is nice as well, system is running at a constant 26 C, versus the old p/s non modular at 30 C. Didn't realize the cords were blocking air flow that bad. Hopefully I won't need it, but 7 year warranty just in case. Fancy case badge.

Cons: Wasn't free. Having to do a mail in rebate, hopefully I receive it. Some of the sleeves on the 24 pin connector were frayed and snagged, but no big deal since I ran the cords in my cable management area of my case.

Other Thoughts: Nice velvet bag, just using it as storage at this point for spare pc parts. Just need my high end gfx card and finally complete my first build.
My build:
AMD 8350, 32gb G Skill Ripjaw X, Asus M5a990FX Pro , a dinky 5450 for now, 120 gb Kingston SSD with windows 8.1, 1TB WD, and a bunch of fans with LEDs because I felt like it.
