2 out of 5 eggsBeware of power outages

Pros: It is an decent power supply for gamers like me. SLI ready and it holds up good.

Cons: Apparently the Corsair HX850 does not like power surges and power outages. After about 5 months, it is now causing my system to power off unexpectantly and reboot.

Other Thoughts: Is there a way I can RMA my power supply or exchange it for another one?

3 out of 5 eggsCorsair products

Pros: +Good appearance & design
+Cable management with ease
+GOLD RATED

Cons: -PRICE, PRICE & PRICE!

Other Thoughts: Since when does a 850W Gold Rated PSU cost the same as a additional GPU?

I've been in the computer building scene for years and I never bought into these pricey PSU's. The only reason this power supply is in my current build is due to it being purchased used in a pre-built system. I gutted the parts to build another computer and decided to take this 850w as a replacement for a 500w corsair.

Keep in mind the 500w Corsair ran like a champ for nearly 3 years not one issue. Priced at $60 it was a excellent deal and would highly recommend it to any entry level builder!

Now the 850w..

No issues as of yet, allows for an additional GPU and more hardware to be connected. Unless you absolutely need the extra power I've found 500-600W to be the gold range for pc builds with single gpu and 3 SSD/ HDD or less. To spend $300 on your power supply is a utter waste of build funds unless completely necessary.

5 out of 5 eggsSilent unless working very hard

Pros: Completely silent during normal operation. Fan doesn't need to run, until more than 40% load. Running with I5 4690 and NVidia 970 power supply fan stays off except when gaming. Haven't put case sides on yet so power supply is still whisper quiet even from few inches away.

Cons: Only some of the cables are modular?

2 out of 5 eggsCoil Whine

Pros: Solid PSU

Cons: Coil whine kills it for me, 3rd day in and my PSU is screaming every time i play any game its extremely loud and i cannot find a fix. How does a power supply that cost so much have this problem?

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: I'm very pleased with the wide variety of PSU's (power supply unit) Corsair has to offer. I'll admit I was a little confused about all the models they had. ex. AX, HX, RM, CS, CX & VS. However after researching them on Corsair's website, it made the choice for me much easier. The fan is very quiet and I love that i have half the amount of cables just sitting idle in my box. Very easy to set up and you really don't need the instructions since most everything is labeled. If you can buy this on sale, great! If not its still worth the price.

Cons: None.

2 out of 5 eggsannoying whinning noise

Pros: So far a very good and stable power supply except for the constant whining noise.

Cons: After about two weeks of use the power supply is now whining constantly and gets louder under load, very annoying and not acceptable. I would not recommend this PSU. I'm returning this one and trying a 850W EVGA.

2 out of 5 eggsLike the Mod. Received broken

Pros: I have never owned a modular power supply. I love it. Installing was easy and the box itself is not too bulky. The modular option made cable management pretty easy I am a beginner at that sort of thing and while it was not the cleanest management ever, it looked way better than what I had before.

Cons: I unfortunately received a dud power supply. after rigorous trouble shooting it was determined and confirmed by others that the power supply simply was inoperable.

Other Thoughts: Sad that this otherwise easy set-up and more powerful supply was broken. going to try and get a replacement or possibly a refund.
