5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Impressive. This product came packaged as if it were intended for royalty. Amazing cable management- a small bag full of interchangeable cables so you only make use of what you need, without needlessly cluttering your case. Couldn't be more pleased with how this was delivered.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsWhat a tragedy

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It's quiet and packed enough power to handle my setup

Cons: After almost a year and a half with this PSU and it doing me well I recently upgraded to an i7 4790k and a new Asus z97 pro motherboard. I woke up this morning and accidentally hit one of the keys on my k70 and then I heard a loud pop from my computer. In the bios there is a setting that allows you to wake up from sleep using USB peripherals, that is what keeps power to the keyboard and mouse and pump on my kraken x61. I froze for a minute and tried to turn on my computer, nothing happened, checked the led on the x61 (which is always on due to the USB feature in the bios) and it wasn't on. I have to assume a capacitor or something blew up inside the psu. I'm overall very disappointed with corsair these past couple of months. Not only has this happened but also a dead pump on an h100i which almost killed my cpu, many different occasions with memory going bad on me from them, and now this. I can't help but be infuriated with corsair, if the death of this psu now means the death of a brand new 4790k and mobo that aren't even a week old or the death of my one month old GTX 980 corsair will have to deal with me as a very unhappy and unsatisfied customer. Corsair expect to hear from me through customer service soon. I don't think I will ever buy another corsair product unless it's a case or a peripheral, switching to evga for my PSU's now. Corsair you used to have a very loyal fan boy, now I can't believe that you can sell faulty pc components, I will NEVER buy another corsair component

1 out of 5 eggsBuzzing at high loads, avoid

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: OK price, easy install.

Cons: Buzzes loudly at high loads, like playing games or in Unreal Engine 4's editor.

I got 2 replacements from Corsair, but they had the same problem.

Other Thoughts: If you don't like noise, don't risk it. Just look elsewhere.

5 out of 5 eggsI only buy corsair

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: With all things you may run into your bad purchases. To date i have been well meet with Corsair products and performance. This PSU is one of the better brands out there and the warranty is superb. This PSU was purchased over a year ago and it runs quiet as a mouse and coupled with my 800D was dustless. I was very pleased with the Corsair products and they are a well made match. I am currently upgrading to the Haswell and keeping this PSU, which is still in mint condition.

Cons: None-I wish it came with TLC.

Other Thoughts: I had a 3770k on this guy, and the Asus motherboards were terrible, abeit they are solid overclockers. I had to RMA two boards before i got a working sata after they gave me a new one. The PSU holds like a champ, i ran a 3770k at 4.8Ghz on Corsair coolers even though i did not keep it at 4.8. Looking forward to the 5820k in all corsair fittings, they need to make motherboards, it would make my life easy.

3 out of 5 eggsWay too noisy, fan ramps up without notice.

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Works totally fine as a power supply. Never had any problems with it feeding any of the hardware in my case. The modularity is nice as well.

Cons: The fan is very noisy. I kind of can't stand it, and have actually been avoiding playing games lately because of it. Though it's advertised as a thermally controlled fan, it doesn't exactly gradually ramp up under high temps. Rather, it stays seemingly silent until it really needs to work, then just screeches with this high pitched whining fan that overshadows all of the other noises coming from my PC (of which there aren't much, for the most part). It's so bad it makes me wonder if this is actually a problem that I have specifically with mine. If this is how everyone's works, I'm surprised they can stand it.

5 out of 5 eggs5 year later...

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Decently stable voltages, decent looks, silent, and well built. Good warranty.

Cons: The price has dropped on this power supply since I bought it 4 years ago.

Other Thoughts: After almost 5 years when I was cleaning it out, I noticed one of the fan blades sticking out of the bottom. It was keeping the fan from spinning. I took the broken blade out but it would make my case wobble. I contacted Corsair and they gave me an rma right away. Sent me a replacement quickly over the holidays. I've been very happy with this power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsFancy

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Tons of cables, and comes with only the necessities pre-plugged in (by pre plugged, I mean "built in" so you cannot actually remove them), giving you the option of plugging in the extras for powering pci/cpu or not. So there are plugs on the PSU itself to add more cables (which come with the PSU). That's awesome!

My old PSU basically forced me to have a bunch of "loose ends" plugged into nothing, then, as I upgraded, forced me to do some hack work to get enough plugs, and it was a mess.

Came with enough cables to max out the PSU and power more than a single mobo should need. Powers a 3930k, gtx 980 and gtx 560, water cooler, bunch of fans, all 4 ram slots, and 6 hard drives.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsBlew up

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Had a nice number connections to suit any number of drives, cards, etc.

Cons: After 2 months of owning the card it suddenly made a loud pop and died. Unfortunately I can't replace it because it's been over a month. I had a old Roswell 650w that I replaced it with just goes to show how poorly made this psu is.

Other Thoughts: Find something else to buy will never buy a corsair again
