5 out of 5 eggsRead a lot of reviews before I chose this one

This review is from: CORSAIR HX series HX650 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Made by Seasonic.

Reviews show high end components that ensure longevity (as long as you are running it behind a good UPS unit of course, as a brown-out will kill anything plugged into the wall except a good UPS).

Cons: Why baby blue instead of red? WHY?!

Other Thoughts: Really nice review on hardware heaven shows the quality of this PSU. Compared it to reviews on hard ocp of competing PSU's and this had the lowest price in the quality range at the time of purchase.

I have 2 Corsair 750 TX PSU's (5 years old) and they are both still pulling strong and stable. Apparently to get the quality of the older TX you have to go with the new HX series, so that is what I did.

SUPER FAST BUILD. Running Folding@home for 7 straight days, averaging 64K PPD and running cool, pulling 294 watts from the wall (including Samsung 27 in. monitor).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat features, good value

This review is from: CORSAIR HX series HX650 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Very quiet--even runs with no fan when under 50% load. By the time my system needs more than 50% load from the PSU, the case fans are louder than the PSU fan.
Mostly modular. I'm not even going to call it semi-modular. The only thing that's not modular is the ATX power cables. Are you not going to plug in your motherboard and CPU power? The only reason to go fully-modular is if you want fancy colored power cables.

Cons: I can't think of any. It is missing Corsair's USB monitoring and software that the HXi series includes, but you get what you pay for. An HX850i would have been overkill for me.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but not the best

This review is from: CORSAIR HX series HX650 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Got this to replace the CX which had loud coil whine. Runs more quiet with much less coil whine than the CX.

Cons: Still has minor coil whine when used with certain GPUs

1 out of 5 eggsCORSAIR HX series HX650

This review is from: CORSAIR HX series HX650 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Modular, Powers the computer

Cons: Power supply makes a ticking/chirping noise at regular intervals, every minute or so. It is extremely annoying in an otherwise quiet system.

When the pc is idle the power supply fan is ramping up and down like I'm running Prime 95 + Furmark at the same time.

Other Thoughts: This power supply is not what is expected for the price tag.

Cons: Not a thing after 8 months of service.

This review is from: CORSAIR HX series HX650 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Bought this in 2010 to replace a Mushkin unit that failed after barely 2 years of use. This psu has not disappointed. I love the modular cables.

Cons: None thus far.

5 out of 5 eggsDependable PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR HX series HX650 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The modular design is always handy. The fan only coming on when needed is also a great feature. I have 3 more HX series PSU's and love them. So far they have been dependable and are built to last with a price range I can afford. Their will always be an occasional premature failure, but I have ran into less with this brand and series.

Cons: Not fully modular

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR HX series HX650 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Nice power supply. Works great and is virtually silent. Partially modular which I actually prefer over my full modular Seasonic.

Comes with a good warranty and decent accessories.

Cons: None.
