Legendary performance and reliability.

Quiet operation at low loads, modular cabling and 80 PLUS Gold efficiency makes HX Series PSUs a great choice for high-performance PCs. HX Series power supplies generate less heat, so they require less cooling, and the thermally controlled fan only spins when it’s needed. The modular cable set allows you to use only the cables you need for your particular set of components to improve your system heat dissipation and ensure a neat inner look. 80 PLUS Gold certified, the CORSAIR HX650 delivers up to 90% energy efficiency under real-world load conditions to keep your PC cool and quiet, and your power bill down.

  • newegg 80 PLUS GOLD CERTIFIED The 80 PLUS Gold certified power supply provides high power efficiency of at least 87% at any load between 20% and 100%, saving you money on your electrical bill, reducing heat in your computer's system and prolonging its life.
  • newegg 650W continuous power output with strong single +12V rail The Corsair HX650 power supply provides a maximum power of 650W at a server-grade 50°C temperature rating to deliver safe, reliable output for high-end computer systems. A strong +12V single rail ensures the maximum provision of 12V power to energy-hungry components such as CPU and VGA card, minimizing the likelihood of overload shut down.
  • newegg MODULAR CABLE DESIGN The modular cable design makes installation a breeze and allows use of only the cables you need resulting in improved internal airflow and reduced system clutter.
  • newegg Two PCI-E connectors With two 6+2-pin PCI-E connectors, the Corsair HX650 is ideal for high end graphics card.
  • newegg Quiet cooling An ultra-quiet, 140mm double ball-bearing fan delivers excellent airflow with exceptionally low noise levels by varying fan speed in response to temperature.

3 out of 5 eggsdied after two years

Pros: It was quiet, it gave me plenty of power for a small system. Didn't even know it was there. Paid $120 for it two years ago.

Cons: It didn't last forever.

Other Thoughts: the system this was in looked like...
MSI 870A-G54
AMD Phenom II x6 1090t no overclock
3ssds
3 hds (one 10krpm)
1 optical drive
Radion HD4670
4 case fans,

I ended up upgrading graphics to GTX680 and then the power supply died about 2 weeks later. Not going to blame the GTX though.

5 out of 5 eggsHaving owned it for almost a year...

Pros: I've never heard this power supply make any noise. If it makes any noise at all, even a hard drive is loud enough to drown it out.

Plenty of power. Lots of people recommend 850 watts on up for high end gaming, but this beast will run any single-GPU gaming rig out there, even with liberal overclocking, piles of hard drives, and a case loaded with fans. Even some fancy LED fans, if that's your thing. If you're going multi-GPU, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable mixing any two GPUs that draw over 200 Watts each, but that's what the higher-power models are for.

A 7 year warranty means I can run this thing in my main rig for... at least 7 years.

80-Plus Gold efficiency.

Cons: Not the cheapest 650W power supply. (see other thoughts...)

Other Thoughts: While there are cheaper power supplies that can push more raw power, the efficiency and overall quality of Corsair's HX series is very impressive for the price, and they're willing to back up that quality with a 7-year warranty.

1 out of 5 eggs$90 Dollar Bird Machine

Pros: Correctly provides power to computer, 7 year warranty

Cons: Makes a chirping noise every time the fan changes speed, have to pay own shipping for Corsair RMA

Other Thoughts: This is the second HX650 I've bought within a year and both have this problem.

3 out of 5 eggsChirping Noise

Pros: It works well and it gives me all the power I need to run a substantial gaming rig.

Cons: The fan makes this chirping noise that sounds like crickets all most. I would RMA if it wasn't past the date. I don't know how to fix it, but it drives me nuts. It's not something quiet like coil whine. It can be heard from across the room. Because of that one thing I don't think I would buy it again. It's a shame because otherwise it is a great PSU.

2 out of 5 eggsDied 1yr 3 months

Pros: Worked well with system until stopped working.

Cons: It stopped working after 1yr and 3 months of buying it. I guess it would be replaced under warranty, but I still have to go through the process of taking the cables out due to being semi modular (or at least the hard wired ones, but still have to tear apart the wire ties and such due to the routing in the case) Going with a different manufacturer and fully modular this time... This failure is the quickest I have had ever, previous quickest failure was over 6 years.

1 out of 5 eggsdissapointed

Pros: semi modular
easy to install

Cons: Did not function right. Powered up comp ok but fan will only run up then immediately back down. Also makes a beeping noise now and again. Very anoying. gets real hot as in I can smell it. I understand the fan is thermostatically controlled but it NEVER runs for more than 1 to 2 seconds then off. CHINA junk.

Other Thoughts: really dissapointed after doing some research seems its real common China junk.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Only had this in for a few days, but so far so good. Very glad to finally be using a semi-modular power supply so I can get all the extra cables out of the way. Since I'm not putting much load on it 90% of the time, the fan doesn't even turn on, so it's almost entirely silent.

Cons: While it is semi-modular (20+4 pin and 4+4 pin connectors are still pre-attached), the molex connectors are a little more than I need. I've got a few more fans in my case than my motherboard has connectors for, so it's a little annoying to have to try to hide half the molex cable while I'm only using two of the connectors.

Other Thoughts: Other than wishing it had molex cables with two connectors, it's running fine, running near silent, and has been reliable for all the load testing I've done. I'll post back if anything changes, but otherwise a good box.

2 out of 5 eggsLasted one year

Pros: 24 pin and 8 pin are long enough to route behind board. plenty of plug-ins. Good while it lasted

Cons: Only lasted a year.

Other Thoughts: My computer started giving me surge warnings on start up, then it would only turn on for a couple seconds then off then on. I tried different outlets and surge protectors. I ordered a new power supply and just replaced this one. Everything works fine now. I realize that components die but this was not a cheap supply so I am upset that it only lasted a year.

2 out of 5 eggsDefective fan

Pros: Price after rebate. Gold rating.

Cons: This PSU has a bad fan that chirps as it spins down, this is a common error noted by others. Also Corsair tech support is terrible, it takes them days or more to respond to a question. I would advise staying away from Corsair products simply because of the terrible service.
