1 out of 5 eggsDefective

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Once powered up, you don't hear a thing. This PSU is very quiet, credit the 120mm fan.

Cons: Prior to installing PSU I tested it. The 3.3v registered 2.9v just idling, no load. "Hmmm, maybe my PUS tester just isn't working right," I thought. Pulled out a working PSU from a computer and it tested perfectly.

Other Thoughts: It kind of ticks me off I get a defective unit and now have to shell out $11 - $16 for return shipping. Good thing there was a rebate, but maybe that's why there is one. They have some defective units to get rid of...

Pros: Quite, reliable, seems well built

Cons: NO problems, good price, especially with rebate, which I did receive.

Other Thoughts: Installed in Mid tower case with Gigabyte motherboard and intel 3770K processor.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, quiet operation

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, save for a temporary incident (see below)
Price
Braided cables
80 plus bronze

Cons: For the warranty you have to pay for shipping to corsair (they pay for sending it backt to you though).
Temporary weird noise. The unit I got started to make a strange noise, I started filling for the warranty while at the same time trying to check connections etc, nothing seemed to fix the noise, I ordered another psu to have while I sent the corsair for the warranty, two days later the noise disappeared on it´s own and the unit continued to perform well and without the weird noise.
24 pin difficult to attach. The motherboard connector is hard to attach correctly, I did not know if it was the psu or the motherboard at the time, but I tried a different psu and I could connect it without any problem.

5 out of 5 eggsnice OEM replacement

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I've used numerous CX430 units in many client and personal builds. I've never had one fail....at least not yet.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Priced well, and problem free.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU--Poor Rebate Service

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I really like this PSU. Quiet, smooth operation, it works like a charm. There is a modular version of it too--I can't say how that one works, but I imagine it is a good one too.

Cons: Rebate appears to be hit and miss. Read the other reviews. Minus the rebate which I probably now won't get, it was only $10 more for the modular (~$50). Wish I had bought the modular if I knew the rebate was going to be this way. Fewer cords in the way.

Other Thoughts: I had a glowing review that I am now revising down because of Corsair's rebate game; read the reviews--other people got theirs denied for various reasons (I should have read them all) and now I am out $20 too; really wish if I knew I was going to be taken, that I had just bought the modular one without the rebate. Without the rebate, this one is still worth $40, but I thought I was getting a bargain which wasn't. The one egg is for Corsair's customer service rebate game and not the item itself. Really disappointed. I would have bought more DDR3 with that rebate.

Would have bought some Corsair products recently (which had a rebate) but didn't because I had second thoughts given my recent experience. Fingers crossed I can convince Corsair to reconsider, but my time is worth money too, and they are banking I won't argue endlessly for hours over $20. And that's how one loses a customer. Corsair isn't the only game in town, and for me it is about the principle, not the amount. They keep doing this on the rebate end, and though they make excellent products, it makes me ponder buying a different manufacturer even without a rebate. They are banking (like everyone does) that you'll forget about it or not meet the requirements exactly so they can deny it.

If you see a good deal, buy right away, print the form ASAP so it doesn't disappear into the digital abyss, and pray that the vendor actually pays what they promise. Or better yet, buy one without a rebate, and then you know exactly how much you will pay in the end :/

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Works amazing for my little file server.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: PSU is the most important in the rig. If that quits, it might take out everything in it.
My HX520 is still running like a champ after 7 years of use.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet, cool running power supply

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Hey, it worked out of the box (not DOA!). I listed to the community and got a quality 430W supply

Cons: Wish I got the modular unit--lots of cords. Very little documentation.

Other Thoughts: I wish the documentation was more thorough. I've never built a PC before but I managed through it. Worked well but I only used a couple of the cords and many are in there.

Do look for the CPU power cord--in my AMD setup there was a 4 post on the mainboard, but I didn't see this 4 post on the power supply. Look closer--there is a 8 post one that snaps apart.

4 out of 5 eggsDon't count on the rebate.

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Nice power supply.

Cons: Unfortunately the rebate appears to be a scam.

Other Thoughts: Promotion number CM14-6481 is what is listed on the new egg PDF rebate instructions but this code is not valid. Calling support will get you a person that can do nothing for you and says "try mailing it in and see if that works.... sometimes you can not do them online" What a sorry line to feed someone, but that's what you get when you contract out you rebate dept. to a larger company. You (Corsair) should not even do rebates if you can not verify they are being handled correctly.

2 out of 5 eggsIt was quiet while it worked

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This is a quiet power supply. I've had four of these and they have all been quiet, so I think the reviewers who say otherwise have defective units.

Cons: Of the four CX430s that I've had, two have failed, one spectacularly (sparks and smoke). Another has been running flawlessly for more than two years. And I've only just installed the fourth one, to replace the latest failure, so it's too early to tell whether it is good or not. I think my next replacement power supply to keep on the shelf will not be a CX430.

Other Thoughts: I built two machines, each with a Corsair CX430 power supply. They have both been running for over two years. Neither machine needs anywhere near 430w, so the CX430 should be well up to the task. One machine has had the same power supply since new, and it's running well. The other is on its third CX430, the replacement for the first one having failed this afternoon.
