4 out of 5 eggs500W PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Functional - bought this PSU to power a GTX 960

Cons: Non-modular - I have a bunch of excess cables squished around the back of my case

Other Thoughts: Bought this PSU a little late. I should've saved up and bought one with a higher wattage, in case I decide to upgrade my hardware.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat replacement power supply

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Very quiet fan, backward compatible CPU power cable for 4 pin motherboards, power on/off switch and has both SATA and IDE power plugs for mixed components.

Cons: Case is marginally larger than specs, required squashing interfering computer case rivets to install in my narrow HP computer case. This may not be a problem for others.

Other Thoughts: The best value 500 watt power supply that my research could find.

2 out of 5 eggsNot real sure as yet?

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Seems to do what it is suppose to.

Cons: I just notice yesterday, 1/18/2016, a somewhat loud fan noise. After checking all CPU and case fans I finally discovered the noise was coming from the power supply. apparently whenever the power supply fan revs up it makes a lot of noise.

5 out of 5 eggsCX500 is my favorite PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I'v built many Desktops for other people over the past 7 years, and I'v always used CX500 in them. Corsair is an awesome brand, good performance, cheaper price than other competitors, and I recommend this for anyone whose building a new Desktop.

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggsDecent power, quiet, budget friendly power supply unit.

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: - Zero issues with it. Powers my work computer just fine.

Cons: - Permanent cords. Can't disconnect or connect cords as needed.

Other Thoughts: Only giving it 4 out of 5 stars because of the cords/wires. There are other PSU's that allow you to connect cords as needed and remove them on demand, etc. This one is what it is. Can't add to it or remove from it. I chose this power supply for a "budget PC".

2 out of 5 eggsDecent psu, Corsair does not honor their rebates

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Functional power supply unit

Cons: Warning: Corsair does not honor their rebates. I sent in all the necessary information and double checked with a Corsair representative as I am wary of items with rebate promises. I went step by step down their rebate checklist and the Corsair representative confirmed that I had enclosed the necessary information and qualified for the rebate. Months later, I received a postcard from Corsair saying my rebate will not be honored as it didn't qualify and was missing a UPC (which I had cut off the box and sent in).

Other Thoughts: The psu itself is decent, although the fan vents open up in the opposite direction of my previous psu, and worked for the short duration that I used it, but expect to pay the $50+ instead of the rebate price. I have been a long time Corsair customer but will no longer purchase their products if they promise rebates.

1 out of 5 eggsNot reliable

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Seemed good for the first week and a half with no problems

Cons: Worked perfectly fine until about a week and a half after I got it. I was using my computer (i5 4690k, Asus Gtx 970, nothing overclocked), when I hear a loud pop and smoke coming from my power supply, it exploded and I am hoping it did not damage any other parts
