5 out of 5 eggsSolid!

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Solid, cool, reliable, cost

Cons: amount of plugs

Other Thoughts: These are great stable power supplies at a great cost. This is the 4th one I have bought. I have bought them from the 400w - 650w range and they all have been very good power supplies.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after one month

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It's cheap

Cons: There is a good reason why this is cheap. Obviously, Corsair is cutting corners in quality to make this cheap. If you are considering buying this because it's cheap, ask yourself: is it cheaper to buy this, and them ship it back to RMA it once it fails?

Other Thoughts: 2 months ago, I built a computer with this as the PSU. One month later, the computer failed, all because of the Power Supply. I RMAed it one month ago, and now one month later, I got my replacement from Corsair.

THE REPLACEMENT PSU IS BAD. MY COMPUTER STILL WON'T BOOT.

Get a different Brand. Seriously, save yourself time and hassle and frustration. Get a higher quality PSU, from a different brand.

3 out of 5 eggsCorsair CX CX500 psu

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: price is a plus after the discount
Newegg usually very efficient in shipping
there is a warranty for the unit

Cons: power wires feel solid but are stiff, making them difficult to weave around the inside units of the computer case
Fan is quiet, but noisier than other brands that I have owned
First time I ever had difficulty aligning a PSU with the screw holes in my computer case and I have had about 3 or 4 PSUs for it. Maybe the case's age is a factor?

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice for basic builds

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Reliable , clean power, quality workmanship. Corsair is one of the premier names in PSU. The connectors are well made. Some power supply wire leads are built poorly and do not plug into motherboards etc easily or worse they come apart difficult. Corsair warranty and easy RMA process.

Cons: basic power supply so the cables are no modular but you know what your getting when you buy.

Other Thoughts: For basic customer builds these are great. I have dozens of these out in the field running away with no issues. If the users ever want to upgrade video etc there is plenty of headroom to do so.
