1 out of 5 eggsCustomer Service at its Worst

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Function as what a normal PSU does, no surprise, nothing special.

Cons: Originally I was going to give this product a 4 star due to its size and quality, however Corsair's customer service really changed my mind.

I bought this product on Black Friday knowing it has a rebate of $20.00 dollars, and apparently Corsair ripped me off big time. I am not here argue about money but rather its unjustified way of handling rebate and customer service.

The rebate clearly stated it needed to file before the end of the year/Christmas, which I had already sent out within the same week of purchase (November), however the online status checking site would not update until about 3 weeks after receiving the rebate. So speed up the time to 3 weeks later (now), I received an email from Corsair saying "receipt submitted was dated outside of the qualifying period for this promotion", so is Corsair playing a game on me and cheated me out of simple $20 rebate, or is this the usual way from Corsair to scam loyal customers?

As I state here, beware of all products from Corsair when it has a rebate, cases/psu or whatnot, its way of handling business for the last few years turned quite questionable.

Other Thoughts: Truly disappointed, really bad customer service, dodging questions, slow emails...you name it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Extremely quiet. Looks and feels like a quality product. Has all the connectors I need. Even came with a few zip ties for me.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: The cables are pretty long so if you have a small case hopefully you have an area where excess and unused cables can be tucked away otherwise you'll have cables sitting on your mobo, fans, and memory.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I upgraded from a cheap PSU that came as a package deal with my case. It lasted about 18 months, so I can't complain.

This Corsair unit is significantly more sturdy and quieter. I expect this to last for a long time, and with the rebate and instant $5 off from Newegg, I ended up paying just $25 for this unit. Not sure that price can be beat for a quality PSU unit.

Cons: It was slightly larger than my previous unit, so connecting my DVD drive was a bit tricky, since there was much space between the PSU and the DVD drive connections. The PSU wires are sturdy, but the trade-off is that they are not as flexible.

4 out of 5 eggs4 molex with short cables

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: 500W, silent, 4 molex for "legacy" drives, SATA, price with rebate.

Cons: Short cables for molex and floppy drive connectors.

Other Thoughts: I needed a more powerful PSU to handle an additional PATA IDE HD on my beloved "legacy" system. I needed 4 molex connectors (2 HDs and 2 optical drives) and this was one of the few modern PSUs with that many.

The only problem was the length between the connectors, which made me change the optical drives to bays depending on their length so I could actually connect them in the only setup possible, with the cable going to the floppy disk tighter than I'd like it to be.

In any case, it's working flawlessly and with the $20 rebate it was a good deal.

3 out of 5 eggsOk Value Unit

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Also, the connectors are nice, 8-pin CPU actually a split and joined 4+4, same for the 20+4 pin MoBo.

Cons: All 4 of the Molex connectors are on a single lead, if you have an older rig (like mine) it might pose some challenge.
Also, its slightly louder than the (recently dedeased) Antec NeoPower its replacing, but its not that bad. I am the silent PC type, not a gamer.

Other Thoughts: Its pretty hard going from a modular to conventional PSU. I could not believe the price of direct replacements for my 5 or 6 yr. old Neo, and couldn't justify it for the older rig. Oh well..

5 out of 5 eggsIts a fantastic Power Supply

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Very well made!

Very professional looking!

Cons: Its Corsair how could there be a con!

Other Thoughts: I have ordered a ton of these in the past 6 months and have not thought twice about it! This is a top notch power supply and I will keep ordering them as long as they keep making them!
