3 out of 5 eggsProne to failure

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It works when it works I guess. Just another PSU, nothing special

Cons: In the the almost 3 years I've had this PSU, I've had to RMA it twice. The first for the PSU failing completely, and the second for the PSU beginning to dying and continuing to freeze and BSOD my desktop.

Now I understand that all parts aren't perfect, but my big issue is that Corsair makes you pay for the shipping when you send it to them to be fixed. PSUs, being heavy and what not, cost a lot to ship. The warranty lasts for 3 years so I'll probably end up buying a new PSU sometime soon before it inevitable dies again on me.

2 out of 5 eggsFog machine after 4 years.

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It's very quiet and powers my rig. I have an AMD 1090T (stock) and a GTX 560Ti. I have three case fans, SSD, spinning hard drive, blu-ray burner, and external back-up drive.

Cons: none.
UPDATE: after having this for a little over 4 years, one day it sizzled and started smoking like crazy. After I unplugged it and took my box outside, I saw that the PSU was leaky a fluid. It was rather pungent and viscous. Yes, it got on my mobo a little bit, and it took some time to clean it from the seams of my case, but at least it didn't explode. Good news is that while the PSU was dying/frying it did not ruin any other components. I replaced the power supply and was right back in business. Overall, I wish it lasted longer, but at least it kept its problems to itself.

Other Thoughts: I got thrown off for a minute because my mobo took a 4 pin CPU power connector and all that's on the PSU is an 8 pin one. Turns out the 8 pin is scored and can be snapped in half in order to accommodate 4 pin mobos.

1 out of 5 eggsBroke shortly after installing

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: None

Cons: Broken

Other Thoughts: It worked for a couple of weeks then it stopped powering up the pc. At first I could unplug and plug in the pc to get it to work, and over time it got worse and worse until it only powered up the fans.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: This psu lasted me about 2 years it was working very well while I had it never had any problems

Cons: After the 2nd year mark during games like GTA V it would shut down my PC after heavy load that's when I starting noticing it going bad as of today it just died on me but I have to say I'm impressed it lasted 2 years considering I never turn my PC off

Other Thoughts: It worked very well got to say I am pleased with the product

3 out of 5 eggsHmm

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Cheap when it's on rebate
Haswell support
Lots of connectors

Cons: Coil whine

Other Thoughts: I bought this a month ago and did not install it until a week ago and it already has a fan problem where it makes some noise and I have to backhand it. Unfortunately it is past the 30 days to return it, so I will have to RMA for another one from Corsair. The noise comes and goes, but most of the time I have to teach it a lesson.

There are so many PSUs on the market made in China by Chinese companies, and they all seem to be sub par even when they are gold and platinum and have whiny fans. Can't we make any dang thing in the U.S. anymore? Jebus's sake. Even the fan-less PSUs have coil whine. I was considering Rosewill with their hydro fan, but they also have some reviews with noise issues.

I am a founder and CEO and can write these things off on taxes and order more to replace before I send it back, but others are not so lucky.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Size and Excelent brand

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: 600 watts of power output for hungry graphics cards. 80 plus bronze. Two independent 6+2 PCIe connectors. Short length making it more compatible with cases. You can use a floppy power for something if you felt like it. Very solid construction. Box arrived damaged and I may have dropped it once. No scratches or dents on the PSU.

Cons: SATA power is never spaced out for drive cages, nor are they given enough connectors. You can split the power, but that can cost volume of the cords and increases the likelihood of starting a fire.

Other Thoughts: Why can't the non-modular power supplies have the same wiring as modular power supplies? Is there a reason we have to have colored cables in a bunch instead of flat black cables?

I ended up taking the SATA power cables and modifying their lengths between the connectors to reduce slack between my drives. I can safely say Corsair likes to keep their heat-shrink tubing in place with adhesive. The in-line SATA power connectors are very solid compared to some 3rd-party ones I bought. I would recommend a Corsair PSU to anyone that asked as they are some of the best I have ever used.
