3 out of 5 eggsRMA process

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: --

Cons: --

Other Thoughts: I wrote a review a few slots down about needing to do an RMA after about 1 1/2 years of use. I wish I could just edit that review to update it but newegg won't allow that.

Anyway, the RMA process is very easy and straight forward. You have the option to send yours in first then have one sent back at no charge or have them send one out right away with a hold on your credit card for the full price until they get yours in. The one thing I didn't think about was the cost to send it back. It came up to $18.00 for me which if they fail very often would make getting a more reliable one cheaper, but I have no reason to think they will keep failing.

Another point is that the replacement unit has no warranty of its own. What I mean by that is that if your original unit has a 3 year warranty and it fails with one week left and then if that replacement fails in two weeks later you are out of luck. I would think they would give you at least a 90 day warranty on the replacement if the original warranty runs out before that but they don't. I guess this is to prevent people from just continually swapping them out forever. So your only guarantee is that you will be able to get a functional unit during the warranty period but when it runs out your are done. It may make sense to spend a bit more for the 5 year warranty.

3 out of 5 eggsproduct ok- rebate is fake

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: power supply good although cables/ wires are bulky. Set up did work in mid size tower

Cons: poor mail in rebate with quick turn around required per small print.. best to write it off.

Other Thoughts: corsair is great brand and should not be involved with sleazy mail in rebate deals

5 out of 5 eggsGreat supply for most

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet and semi modular (connectors for cables except main 24 pin and a few others). Has active PFC and high efficiency which will add up with a computer running a lot. Nice long cables for full size tower box.

Cons: None so far except I don't like rebate forms and registration.

Other Thoughts: For info, the 24 pin connector on an ATX supply has a Power Good signal on pin 8 which is supposed to go high. My previous supply failed and it was low even though the voltages measured ok. You will get nothing but fans running, just replace the supply first. My system never uses over 300W using an AMD FX6300 CPU so this has plenty of headroom.

4 out of 5 eggsAlright

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Works fine, provides power to all of my components.

Cons: Not modular. I have a bundle of unused cords in the corner of my PC where it shouldn't interfere with airflow too much. This is something to take into consideration if you are building a machine that has very little room to spare.

Other Thoughts: For the price, this is a good power supply. However, if I were to buy a new one right now I would most likely spend a little bit more for some more wattage. Unlike other reviews, mine was not DOA and it is still functioning in my build about 3 years later.

4 out of 5 eggsJust failed at just over two years

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Worked good when it worked.

Cons: Failed after about 2.5 years. The Asus motherboard just started to shut down randomly stating, " the computer was shut down to protect it from power surges". This has happened twice in about a week. No storms or unusual activity and I have never seen this message before so I assume the power supply is on its way out.

I will see how the warranty process works and post another review on how that goes.

5 out of 5 eggs1 1/2 yrs still wroking

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I have had this power supply for about a year and a half and it still works fine.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: You can read the specs to see if it has the connectors and power you want. As a user I can tell you I have been using this for a year and a half and still working fine. It has a big fan and is very quite. I read a bad review of a whine sound after shut down and that is not true. That user obviously had a bad unit and should just take it back

2 out of 5 eggsPSU is good so far, watch out for rebate.

This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Have had this PSU running for about 6 weeks now and is working fine and fits my power requirements. Hope it stays trouble free for years to come.

Cons: Like others have said, the main power connector doesn't snap in. I didn't want to break my new motherboard trying to get it to latch on so I just have plugged in as far as it will go. Now the main issue: Never trust the mail in rebate process. I checked the status of my rebate and they claim the UPC was missing. As the Lord as my witness I am 100% positive that I included the ORIGINAL UPC taped to the the completed rebate form and the invoice. The rebate processing online chat was not of any help to remedy the issue. They asked if I had a copy of the UPC. No! because I already sent in the original. This wasn't a five or ten dollar rebate either, but twenty, which is a significant amount to me.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy another Corsair product just due to the fact their rebate processors are incompetent. It seems like everyone is out to scam you nowadays. I sent in another rebate for a completely different product and brand the same day. When I went to check the status of this other brand rebate, I could view scanned images of all the documents and envelope that I mailed in. That rebate was successful and I received my rebate card. In hindsight it is a very good idea to make copies of everything related to the mail in rebate prior to sending it in. I will be more cautious of MIRs next time and would rather get instant promo code discounts rather than wait 8-10 weeks for the possibility of getting some money back. Another thought: it seems like every time I buy a product on here, the price is lower the next few weeks(shakes my head)
