1 out of 5 eggsWhat a headache

Pros: Look of unit, "brand name" ?

Cons: The plastic of the sata power connectors is so thin that any pressure against them will make them snap and incapable of staying in place. My particular unit was semi modular but whenever I tried to supplement the broken sata connectors with a modular one, the system would not boot. Tried multiple cables to ensure I just didn't have a bad cable. Ultimately the common denominator of all the issues was this PSU... but it managed to put two mother boards and a graphics card into an early grave before I put this PSU into the trash next to bags of used cat litter where it belongs.

Other Thoughts: Got two years out of this thing... a year ago when I tried to add in a 2nd hard drive is when I snapped two sata power connectors with the tiniest bit of force... I should have chucked this PSU then when the thing would not boot using a modular cable.... what made me think I could sneak a new graphics card into this build (card required a 450 watt) is beyond me, and the fact that I subjected not one but two motherboards and a brand new GPU to the abuse of this PSU ... well shame on me.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed

Pros: Fit, looks nice

Cons: Unit died after only 3 hours of use. Fan never came on. Definitely stay away. Wish I'd taken other's advice here and stayed away and saved time by having to replace the unit now.

1 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed

Pros: In the past, I had good experiences with two Corsair TX650w power supplies (circa 2007).

Cons: After a succesful intial POST, and assembly, I never noticed the Power supply fan never worked on this unit. I continued on, completeing a nice Win7 box; but wait, I'm reading a high MB temp..., and geez, look at that, I guess that new Corsair PSU sure was silent. It's fan never came on. Never in its two hour life. I've rebooted it a few more times, it does not move at any temp. Unacceptable Quality Control. Every PSU s/b tested.

Other Thoughts: So...if the fan is not connected or is faulty, what does that say about their QC department, and what of the capacitors and other important components being used? There is no way shipping breaks a heavy duty PSU fan like this. I've probably purchased 50 power supplies in the past 25 years; this is the first time I've had a problem with one. I also read 11.9V at a <2amp load for the big 45amp 12V rail.

Manufacturer Response:

We're sorry you had an issue with the PSU. Unfortunately, PSUs sometimes fail even after our QC efforts which is why we offer a warranty. Please start an RMA for a replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Guy

Pros: No problems with supplying the correct amount of power.
All the cords were the correct lengths.

Cons: I only have a few minor issues but nothing major at all. The power cord going into the PSU has a bit of resistance. There is also a little bit of capacitor noise when the computer is off or sleeping.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is another great corsair PSU.

2 out of 5 eggsFan make a loud clicking noise

Pros: It works.

Cons: Well for some reason when I first installed it did not cut on. Then I figured loose power switch connector, then it worked. Heard very loud click noise from psu fan. Took build into another room( wife didn't like thing sitting in kitchen) once upstairs in office. Didn't power up. Thought loose power switch but not the case this time. This time power cord was not in tight enough, I guess. Well the fan is very loud I mean my wife is like what is that noise... Look I don't want to be in divorce court over this PSU, so I am going to return it... oh well life goes on

Other Thoughts: I really like my new build now I have to break it down and return the PSU... and I don't have a back up.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality Control

Pros: Worked well initially - nice looking.

Cons: Lasted less than one year. Was in a very undemanding build that needed nowhere near 550w - still did not supply stable power and caused problems that took some while to sort out - mainly because I assumed that the Corsair PSU could not be the problem - silly me!

Other Thoughts: Replace the Corsair PSU with an old G*****y PSU that I'd replaced years ago - and the system worked fine thereafter.

Manufacturer Response:

We're sorry you had an issue with your PSU. Please RMA it and we'll replace it for you.
