5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Product

Pros: I've had this PSU for about 2 years now, got it when it first came out and it's still awesome! I can barely hear it, likewise other users have indicated that it squeaks. I have yet to notice anything like that! Works wonderfully, love how it's modular. Comes with lots of cables for expansion. Good overall PSU for the price.

Cons: None, awesome PSU.

Pros: Delivers the juice and laughs about the 850 watt peak load I use while gaming or encoding. Plenty of room for expansion and the modular cable system is great. Did I mention this PSU is a great value and is high quality and nice and stable even at full rated load.

Cons: Does make a high pitched noise, some users say they can hear it all the time, I only hear it when the side of my case is open. Many users have reported DOA or dead within 3 months, though my unit seems to be great so far.

Other Thoughts: I run a huge system, on an AMD FX platform with ATI cards and loads of drives.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Recommended

Pros: Product is very beautiful to look at and comes with a PSU velvet storage bag.

Cons: Stopped working within 5 seconds of first power cycle.
Fried CPU and most likely Motherboard too on that same first power cycle.
Sent it back (RMA) and will never consider Corsair products again (sorry).

Other Thoughts: I cannot recommend this product based on my experience with quality.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's A Good PSU

Pros: Did not purchase this from Newegg. It's a great power supply, real work horse. I actually only need a 800W, Actual System Draw is 690W according tot he calcs, 600W is the peak i've managed to obtain. I like my PSU's to last forever, so therefore I got this one. It's been working great for the last 2 months...

Cons: The 5V rail after 2 months of use has gone from 5.1-5.2V (first after purchase test) to 5.6-6.1V (for the last week). So now I am in the process of having to RMA it. I'm disappointed that the 5V rail has degraded so much in such little time. I'm most likely going to purchase another one, RMA this one I currently have, and have it as a spare just in case. I really can't go too long without this computer as this is the main computer used for my business and managing my servers remotely. And games...which I don't really get to play hardly ever.

Other Thoughts: It's great. If it isn't 80 Gold, don't but it. Corsair makes some really good products. I've installed a total of 19 Corsair PSU's in the last month for my customers (from 500W to 1100W) and they are all running like champs. It's one of the few products I push to my customers from the same manufacturer. They have decent customer support, even though the technical support sounds like the guy is reading from a screen and doesn't know what "I already did that" means (it's happened to me a couple of times). It's a great product, just remember to test the voltages before you connect it.

Other Thoughts: I bought the 80+ silver one, (not on newegg) at a local computer store. And I love mine. Nothing wrong with it, in my opinion. Simply amazing.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat if it lasts more than 3 months

Pros: Looks great
Doesn't feel cheap.
Tech support is good.

Cons: Only lasted a year (first one)

Other Thoughts: Had bought the HX1000(I don't think they are made anymore) and it was solid running for about a year, and then it started to shut down. Becoming more frequent it eventually gave up and died. I had no problems getting it RMA'ed through Corsair. Other than the fact that getting it shipped cross border to their OC was expensive.

I received the replacement within a little over a week, which was nice. However, after only 3 month this one has died too. I've decided to not RMA this one and go for something different. I managed to get a good deal on an XFX 1000W platinum. (XFX is manufactured by Seasonic)

I find Corsair products to be of good quality and will stick with their RAM sticks, but I won't be buying another Corsair (Channel Wise) manufactured PSU ever again.

1 out of 5 eggsThis Was an RMA replacement

Pros: It worked for 2 months

Cons: This unit was an RMA replacement for the THX 1000. The problem seems to be with the circuit that controls the 12v rails when using an ATI card. I originaly had the 4872x2 which randomlly crashed my PC, so then I purchased the 5870 with the exact same result. Talked with XFX and ASUS and replaced graphics cards, and RAM, even considered the processor and MB but really didn't make sense since the problem was the graphics card. I placed a low end graphics card that only used 6V and it worked great, but the moment I needed the 12V I would ger random crashes. If you are using an ATI card I would recommend against getting this PSU as I have now owned two that will not play well with ATI cards. I am replacing this unit with an XFX PSU in hopes that their PSU will work with their graphics cards

Other Thoughts: Corsair is obviously using a control circuit for the 12V power distribution that does not work well with ATI cards. I am not sure if this is a known issue, but it is certainly one that I am now well aware of.
