5 out of 5 eggsMore Corsair Goodness

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Stable and power aplenty--cooling fan heard occasionally but no big deal. Nice long cables that reached all destinations within a huge Corsair 900D case. 3rd Corsair power supply I've purchased and nary a problem with the lot.

Cons: Fan can be heard occasionally.

Other Thoughts: This PSU is powering a Z97-WS with 4790K, GTX780, 7 hard drives, Areca RAID card, a H105 cooler, 4 case fans and 32GB of Corsair Dominator memory. No stability problems whatsoever. Another splendid Corsair power supply!

5 out of 5 eggsStill alive

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I give um a big number 5eggs. I bought two of these when they first came out and I have not had more carefree fun in all of my computing experiences. So I guess that makes them 3 years old or so.

Cons: Not really a con. More my own doing over the years they have some what merged together. As I was running together using a bridge much like a raid setup for hard drive with exact power supplies but with latest tech inside of these things and the tech in the bridge that merged them together. They are slightly warped and don't produce as strong a signal in the 24pin connections. Again my fault. But they work flawless for any power demand I might need.

Other Thoughts: I really did not think about all that three years ago with the duel setup. but it advantages out weighed everything. Being able to put power to the mainboard without regaurd or in a manner that was more tailored.
They were worth it to this day they work I owe alot of that to the idea that I SAW the sata cables and they were much different and I thought I should never mess with them....like changing them out for sleeved cables and whatnot. Was disappointed about the cables at first because of that. Soon I left the power supplies alone to do there job. And they did flawless over the years ran them through maybe 10 thunderstorms and they have always come out on top. Just a good power supply that will tandem with another one but does not favor going back to single after. And most of all A power supply that will never ever support the idea of changing cables. Even if the aftermarkets they sell in other places are for the 1200watt counterpart the cables need to say that famous 1050HX for me to trust so why mess with a good thing.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It WAS good

Cons: until it started to make incredibly annoying sounds because of the gold coil... Disappointed.

Other Thoughts: Honestly didn't think I'd need warranty started doing this
2 months later, gonna buy a new power supply from a different brand although don't get me wrong corsair is great but power supplies might not be their thing.

1 out of 5 eggsThrice Dead

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: My roommate has the exact same model, and it's worked for him....

Cons: I, on the other hand, have had 3 units die on me. One lasted about 1.5 years, the next 3 months, and the most recent, about 5 months, before the 12v rail started dropping too much and reset the computer. I've tried different outlets and battery back ups, makes no difference.

In addition, Corsair Customer Support is one of the worst I've ever witnessed. When you make an account on their portal, your address if permanently tied to your account. I can only hope that it can be changed by talking to their live chat, which naturally is only available during office hours. They also leave you to foot the shipping costs on an RMA when their product fails. Repeateadly.

Other Thoughts: Getting this model is apparently a gamble. Despite the overwhelming number of good reviews, I would never touch it nor anything by Corsair again if I could avoid it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU. Not quiet all the time.

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I've been running the HX series of power supplies since I bought my first HX1000W in 2009. Since then, I've had one issue with the power supply where Corsair immediately sent me a replacement which ended up being the updated HX1050 model. Since then I've had one more (FREE) replacement (not due to any failure on the part of the power supply), and again received the most up to date model, this one featuring the "zero-RPM fan mode'. SEE CONS.

Overall great power supply, AMAZING warranty backed by a great company.

Cons: Zero RPM mode is completely silent at low-end loads, which is great. This works well for the RM450 I have in my server which is quiet and fan-less 100% of its uptime, I have never seen the fan turn on nor have I heard how loud it could be.

The HX1050, on the other hand, is LOUD. My newly built computer does not reach >30dB even under heavy graphical and CPU load thanks to my water cooling units. However, whenever the power supply decides it's hot, the fan revs WAY up, gets loud and fast for about 30 seconds, then spins down slowly and fades back to quiet.

This is pretty counter-intuitive. While it is nice that the fan will last much longer since it is not running for as much time (this would work inversely if the fan used sleeve bearings as the bearings would get sticky over time if not being used, but luckily these fans use dual-ball bearings). It would be MUCH nicer if the fan stayed at a low RPM all the time and never changed its speed. Then my computer would be quiet 100% of the time.

Wish I had just kept my 2013-model HX1050 instead of asking them for a replacement. That one ran quiet 100% of the time without this new "zero-RPM" mode stuff.

Other Thoughts: You don't need a 1050W power supply. Get out of here.

My system:
i7 4770k cooled w/ Corsair H110
GTX 770 cooled by Arctic Accelero Hybrid II-120
16GB DDR3 1600
120GB Intel 530
2 x 1TB Caviar Black RAID0
1 x 2TB Caviar Green

Full power draw under load: ~250W.

Yeah. Go get yourself an AX860 at most. A 650-750 will meet any single-GPU system's needs

3 out of 5 eggsSilent normaly but lound when underload

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Can power a lot of stuff and come's with a variety of cables. When under light load, it's dead silent since the fans if off.

Cons: Really loud when under heavy load. Don't know if its normal.

Other Thoughts: Its so loud under load that if i knew it before hand I wouldn't have bought it.

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: None yet

Cons: I had a lot of mixed reviews but decided to give the Hx 1050 a chance and boom DOA no luck.

Other Thoughts: I will give another review when I get replacement. The Newegg team was great with getting me a new one, was a kind of confusing process but figured it out and when the new one gets here I will review again !

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what i expect from Corsair

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: My second hand computer knowledge comes from my friend who's a windows rep, so excuse me for any prejudices but I love corsair as a company. I usually always choose their power supplies and have yet to be disappointed. I picked up this power supply for a dual SLI configuration and so far don't have any problems with an overclocked i7 4820k. Also with my current setup my pc runs soo cool I only hear the fan on the PSU at start up and then it shuts off just as promised, and only ever kicks on under heavy load
On an unrelated not it is the only thing I've ever purchased other than crown royal whisky that comes packaged in a velvet bag... kind of a plus

Cons: only 1050watts
modular cables are extremely stiff and could be an issue for smaller cases
bulky as expected once again don't put in anything less than a full size tower

Other Thoughts: The only other thing I can think of that is actually meaningful to write is the PSU still runs silent on a overclocked dual SLI configuration which is impressive, efficiency wise but I definitely would go with a bigger PSU for a 3 way SLI

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Lots of connectors. Nice presentation with the packaging.

Cons: Purchased on 9-1-11 So less then 3 years and it is already failing. I purchased Corsair in the hopes of a high quality product, maybe i expect to much.

Other Thoughts: Is there any company left that truly makes quality products?

This review is from: CORSAIR HX Series HX1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Worked well

Cons: Until it spiked and destroyed 3 hard drives

Other Thoughts: Installed this and one night about 2 years later smelled an acrid odor and the computer was dead.

Repair shop(And $500 later) They tracked it down tot he power supply.
