5 out of 5 eggsGreat product!

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Has

Pros: The modularity of this power supply is the best I've seen. Every cable is modular, and there are enough connectors to drive even the most power hungry systems. The ability to real-time monitor the power supply draw and output (and efficiency) is jaw dropping -- getting information down to which power cable is pulling what for power is just enlightening to what is actually being used by the system for any given workload.

Cons: The SATA cables are laid out poorly. Too short of a distance between the power connector and the first SATA power connector, and much too much distance between the SATA power connectors. Unfortunately, this means for each SATA power cable, the first connector doesn't even reach my closest drive making the 4x power cable a 3x power cable, and 3 cables wasn't enough to power all my drives. Fortunately I have a second AX1200i, so I borrowed one of it's SATA power cables for my second build since my first build uses none (All NVMe SSDs that don't use Sata power cables).

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this product to others, and I would (and did) buy it again for a second build myself.

1 out of 5 eggsIt was great! Until it died.

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Has

Pros: steady, quiet, modular.

Cons: reboot loop after a few months (purchased in November 2015, dead in March 2016).

Modular cables are for a standard case, no provisions for vertical orientation or longer routing of cables.

Other Thoughts: Express RMA option available (with a full price hold)
Might update after the RMA arrives, but I get the feeling I'll be updating with another caput unit.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked great...... for 20 mins.......

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Has

Pros: It powered on initially
Happy my house was not a smoldering hole when I returned home

Cons: I left after powering it on to pick my son up from daycare, returned to find the computer powered off. At first I assumed it powered itself down or something however it would not power back on. I tried isolating all components until I was down to just the ATX connector and my board was getting some power from the PSU as it was lit up. Tried with one of my other rigs and it would not do anything there. You could hear an audible click from a relay or something as if it attempts to power up. Quick google search reveals I am not the only one with this issue with this exact model. This was my 2nd Corsair PSU (1st of this wattage other was an AX760) purchased in less than a month and will be my LAST!
Also the PCIE 6 pin setup was odd on one of the 2 and required some menuvering to get it lined up

Other Thoughts: Rig was x58 board with 990x I7, Asus Strix 980TI, 2 500GB 850 Evos, 4 Segate NAS 4TB. Definitely NOT even taxing this PSU.... PATHETIC!

1 out of 5 eggsCoil Whine that never ends

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Has

Pros: On the power end of things it works great
The modular approach is also great including the motherboard connectors. Allows you to get presleaved cables elsewhere.

Cons: The coil whine is a nightmare. It started doing it about 4 months after purchase. I recently sent to it Corsair after they "approved" the rma... costs 40 bucks to send.. they get it and on the same day ship it back saying they couldn't reproduce. I tried this thing in multiple outlets with different cables and it was impossible to NOT reproduce it. No other power supply in my house has the problem.

I would have been more than happy if they fixed or replaced it. But to not even contact me and just ship it back as is... never doing business with corsair again..

2 out of 5 eggsDoes ok, but has a 1.5 year life span.

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Has

Pros: Did as it should, gave enough power to GPU and entire system.
Appeared well made and with great cables.
7 year warranty.

Cons: Ive had this unit for exactly 3 years and have gone through 2 units thus far.
Both units died exactly 1.5 years after installation.
RMA procedure is frustrating
Cost of shipping back another dead PSU at my expense...
Each time the PSU has died, it has taken my GTX 690 with it.

Other Thoughts: It performed just fine, but it's lifespan is a problem.
When the first PSU died it took my GTX 690 ($1000) with it to the grave. Luckily it was replaced by EVGA.
Here we are again with the PSU having died and taking my replacement 690 with it. Which is no longer under warranty.
Each time this PSU has died, it has killed my GPU.
You have been warned.

5 out of 5 eggsOverkill, but worth it.

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Has

Pros: This delivers clean power to my entire build, the fully modular design (as expected in high end PSU's) makes cable management a breeze. I honestly haven't bothered looking at the stock cables because I went with CableMod red/black cables fresh out of the box. Corsair Link software is pretty cool, however I only used it to see my total power draw out of curiosity, it is nice software though.

Cons: Zero cons.

Other Thoughts: Again, this is a massively overkill PSU, I could've gotten by on the 860w version of this and been just fine with my SLI 980 Ti configuration but I wanted to have headroom in case I added a third 980 Ti later.

1 out of 5 eggsQC defective, do not buy

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Has

Pros: Sophisticated control software, runs quiet

Cons: This PS blew out after a week of not heavy use. This company needs to run their PS for a little while before sending them to customers, it's called QC. Avoid buying from this company.

2 out of 5 eggsPowers up and Powers off

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Has

Pros: Nothing yet

Cons: Built a new pc and flicked the power button on the psu and on it went and off it went. PSU kept recycling on and off. Narrowed it down to the 24 power connector cable. Plug both the 14 and 10 pin connectors into the power supply and hit the self test button and the green light does not light. Unhook (either) the 14 or 10 pin connector and hit the self test button and the green light goes on. Put in a service ticket with corsair December 27th and so far just dead silence.

Other Thoughts: This seems to be a problem on this psu as i have read.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Has

Pros: None.

Cons: I built my system, installed this PSU, and fired it up. The system was working perfectly, so I started a large file download that would take a few hours, and I went to bed. The next morning, I got up to check on the download. The computer was off. I tried to power cycle it, but to no avail. I popped off the front panel to take a look, and lo and behold, my AX1200i's red self-test LED was lit. A quick google search confirms that this is a common issue with this PSU (just search for "corsair ax1200i red light), and the only solution appears to be a new unit. I was really expecting more from a reputable company like Corsair. Needless to say, I'll never be purchasing one of their PSUs again.

Other Thoughts: TL;DR

Very unreliable unit. Don't waste your money on this defective piece of hardware.
