2 out of 5 eggsDead with less than 3 weeks in service

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Very quiet, seems ruggedly built. Easy to install; CPU & mobo cables long and flexible enough. Corsair does a luxe job with its packaging and as always Newegg was prompt in its delivery.

Cons: Woke up this morning, walked into my home office and... nothing. Pulled it and swapped the old PSU back in so at least I have a running system while this one is RMAed.

Other Thoughts: Yes, I'll RMA it because even among the best suppliers bad pieces ship, though it seems this unit suffers from a higher than average number of failures.

As it's < 1mo old I expect it to be replaced with a NEW unit; not a refurb and after I've had a working unit in service for a while I'll update my review.

2 out of 5 eggsOnly lasted three years.

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Looks nice and is modular.

Cons: Has a seven year warranty, and it only lasted me three years. It was beginning to fail since the first year but I never really knew what was happening until it died completely on the third year.

Other Thoughts: Too pricey for such a short life. It is my second faulty Corsair PSU and my third faulty Corsair item. The H100 Cooler also died on me very fast and the replacement one I received is probably about to die. I have not received any response from Corsair in my RMA request Ticket. I think I will try to stick with Antec for PSUs now. And for water cooling, I will just go with real water cooling, non of this "quick and easy" "closed loop" gimmick.

5 out of 5 eggsPower without noise

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: - power level
- features
- design

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I first thought it is broken when I switched on the PC because no fan was running inside the power supply but the PC worked perfectly. It does not need a fan unless temperature reaches its limits. The electronic controls of that supply are impressive. I love it.

Maybe the cable package can be reviewed and revised and be better explained. The corair forum is full of questions around it and I had the same questions and no answers from the handbook. This is not a technical but a customer understanding issue

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful!

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: - Fully Modular.
- Efficient.
- Very Silent.
- Made By Corsair.
- Comes with a Corsair bag.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I was in need of a powerful PSU. Decided to go with this beast and it was the right decision. It pulls my SLI setup like, it's nothing. I'd buy it again and do recommend this PSU for a serious SLI setup.

3 out of 5 eggsSurprised! It did not last long.

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Specs were the best there were at the time I bought it, probably still are. That's why I was an early adopter. Includes lots of well crafted cables. Has a sturdy enclosure. The software is of interest, but long ago I decided it was not worth wasting a USB port over. There were never any problems with the rig until now. Its power draw was so completely met by the AX1200i that the fan never kicked on, despite having two video cards in SLI, six HHDs, 32 Gb ram, ample cooling including two 180 cm fans, and two SSDs.

Cons: I've had it less than 2 years. Now it fails the self test and will not stay on more than a second. Failure was sudden. There was a very good UPS power conditioner/battery backup between it and the wall receptacle when it croaked, as there had been throughout its life. In failing it mangled parts of the operating system. Fortunately, the OS was repairable after switching the mobo to another power supply, using the Windows backup/restore disc I had made previously. (Never, ever neglect to make a backup/restore disc.)

Other Thoughts: I am hoping this was just a fluke. I am not accustomed to high end power supplies failing. I knocked off 2 eggs because of this event. The facts can't be denied, including that it significantly damaged Windows 7 on its way down. It was much more serious than an "inconvenience". So the toll had to be paid.

Otherwise it is an excellent piece, fully deserving of the term "high end". Now I will find out how Corsair handles its warranty. I expect it is going to cost me something. I guess that just goes with building one's own computers. I believe it is worth it, as I prefer using a machine that is designed for my specific purposes.

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Worked normally for a little more than a year, but HAS A 7 YEAR WARRANTY and I'm having problems returning the unit. I'm still waiting for a response to my E-mail asking for directions on how to return the stuff to you since you appear to be the manufacturer and the are all kinds of limitations on returns.

Cons: Died dead and I have also a dead PC

Manufacturer Response:

Cons: No problems so far.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Cables, personally I like the mesh sleeves and cables to me were not stiff at all. Installed, zipped and was up in running in a short time. Previous ran an AX850 for the last couple years with silent, perfect performance. Wouldn't have done the upgrade if it wasn't for moving to an R9 295x2. Since the AX1500i, I'm actually going to move up to that psu.

Cons: None. You could say price but the quality of Corsair has been meeting or exceeding expectations.

2 out of 5 eggsa follow up to my previous review

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Previously I gave an average review...the product was and still is "good".

Cons: Again a follow up to my previous review...the cables simply suck. Some are sleeved but very stiff. The other cables that aren't sleeved are zip cord style and still very stiff. My kit was missing a couple cables. I contacted Corsair by phone and by email. I have to say...their customer support is horrible. Leave messages and wait to see if anyone calls you back. I really wanted an X series Seasonic but they're always sold out...now I know why...they're the best. This power supply will probably do just fine but to be honest, I'm a bit disappointed.

Other Thoughts: I would not buy this again. It works but not a premium product which is what I was shopping for...perfect for the budget minded with a need for lots of power.
