3 out of 5 eggsNice Power Supply

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Quiet, well built, modular, efficient.

Cons: Cables use proprietary connector shells which makes custom installations difficult. These connectors cannot be purchased seperately if you're planning to build custom cables.

Other Thoughts: I really do like this power supply but Corsair missed it when they decided not to sell the connectors individually. I'm building in a very large case with custom cabling. The cables that came with the kit weren't long enough in some cases and when I called Corsair, the best they could do was to sell me a complete cable kit. I would then have to disassemble and salvage the shells for my custom cables.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother awesome Corsair PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This is my 3rd Corsair PSU, all have been great. Like the self test option. Like the modular cables, not too stiff.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Wish I could use the Corsair Link feature but I don't have enough USB 2.0 headers on MB.

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: So far there are no pros as I had to RMA twice.I ordered the unit based on the features and several good user experience reviews. Basically I ordered for efficiency and power handling.

Cons: There seems to be a Issues with quality control as the units I received seems to be refurbished. I had expected a unit of this caliber not to have use thermal glue as most of the time it is used to repair units.Of the 2 units received one could smell electrical solder and covered with it.

Other Thoughts: I would like to write a better review or add to this one if I can get a good working unit as pictured and video. For the parts I purchased I can not see my investment on the X99 platform to be trusted on a bad quality PSU when Cosair ranks as one of the best.

1 out of 5 eggsQuality Control

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: 1. Quiet until fan is needed to support higher loads;
2. Wide range of connector options;
3. Ability to monitor the device over USB (didn't make it this far);
4. A self test feature;
5. Output power.

Cons: Ordered the unit based on the features and several good user experience reviews. My experience turned out like Jon P's posted on 11-11-2013. My device powered the mainboard, CPU, memory, and video card during basic checks to make sure things were working correctly. The power supply functioned normally for about 5 power cycles and after the basic checks were done I installed the card reader and sound card. That's the last time the power supply would run the computer- press the power button and you hear a click and nothing happens. Tried cold booting the device as well as other methods and I could get no response from the power supply.
The self test feature only works with the power supply unloaded (everything disconnected) - it appears to be a simple open circuit check. I got the green light and momentary fan movement described in the user manual. Put in a backup power supply and the computer ran fine, and is still running the machine now as I type while the 1200i is on the RMA truck.
I'm not sure where the QC breakdown is, but I would not recommend this device until it matures unless you have a backup to run the minimal equipment in your computer.

Other Thoughts: 1. Packaging is expensive and fancy. I would rather the money go into a quality, thoroughly tested product.
2. Newegg customer service was great on the phone and I really appreciated Newegg funding the return shipping. All I had to do was print the label, tape it up, and drop it off on the way to work.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after five months

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Worked perfectly for five months.

Cons: Failed without warning after five months. Just shuts down. Red failure light come on. I could restart it but after the initial failure it would only run for a few minutes.

Other Thoughts: I am wondering if an intelligent PSU like this one might be less reliable than a dumb PSU. In this case the processor clearly was detecting something it didn't like. But perhaps it was being to finicky.

1 out of 5 eggsNot for x79 systems!

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX1200i 1200W Digital ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Lots of cords, nice soft bag......

Cons: Software sucks, doesn't report right on my x79 sabertooth. I uninstalled corsair link and speed jumped up. Don'y buy with x79 based systems. Also having problems with my fans because of the corsair controls, this is very dangerous for me as there is lots of money invested for work! I CAN'T BURN THIS PC UP!
