5 out of 5 eggsI'll never buy anything but Corsair!

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX860i 860W Digital ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Quiet! Cool, lots of extra cables. What can I say but this is the perfect power supply! The bag with the extra cables is great. It also comes in a velor bag that is beautiful, not sure what I'll ever use it for but it looks cool.

Cons: To be able to monitor the power supply you have to hook up a cable from the power supply to this somewhat bulky connector then connect a cable from the connector to your MOBO. This isn't a big deal but it adds to the cables for no good reason and the connector looks ugly in the case.

Other Thoughts: I haven't played with the monitoring but I have it setup.

1 out of 5 eggsPreimum Price for High Defective Rate

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX860i 860W Digital ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Beautiful Design
Quiet operation
Premium Feel
A generous number of nice cables included
Great packaging

Cons: 1) Within 3 months of first use the unit started to cause my PC to shut down. When I attempt to restart the PSU diagnostic light will turn RED and require turning off from the wall and waiting between 1hr and 12hrs to turn back on.

2) Corsair quickly agreed to an RMA, HOWEVER the wait is OVER FIVE weeks!

3) I suggested paying extra for a 1200i, and the wait is also over five weeksl

4) Corsair Link never worked properly! If you are using Windows 8.1 you will have *major* issues with Link. After two months they released a version that supposedly worked with 8.1, but I'm still having serious issues with that software and I've stopped bothering. It's basically a gimmick. However, if you're running on anything below 8.1, you may be fine.

Other Thoughts: I specifically paid a premium price for a premium product but if you do a bit of googling around, you will see a high defect rate for this line starting about the time I bought it (I bought last year but didn't put together the system until January). I would approach with caution!

The disappointing part is that a replacement or upgrade would take over a month at least (they warned me it may be longer!)

I am trying SeaSonic next. Even though I think SeaSonic provides a lot of the components to Corsair, I'll give that a try.

4 out of 5 eggsCorsair ax860i

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX860i 860W Digital ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I love the power supply and all corsair products I have bought. Work as it is intended to

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I ended up writing this because when I opened my package the whole power supply box looked like it had been cut all away around with a box cutter. Very angry with this first time I received a package like this. I took a egg off because of this. Should not have shipped in that condition. I know it is just a box but the contents inside could have been cut with how badly this package is cut.

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX860i 860W Digital ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I really like this PSU. For my design, I removed the fan and installed a red LED fan that pushed air the opposite direction. Love the integrated systems control.

Cons: no pretty lights

Pros: This power supply is awesome. If your running a single graphics card thats bad enough to need something like this you wont be let down. The fully modular part is cool too.

Cons: It appears to be totally awesome for all the needs I have.

5 out of 5 eggsGreatness

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX860i 860W Digital ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Things great! lots of connectors nifty app for the corsair link kinda ugly but its handly.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: very pretty all wrapped up in its box. going to mod it though. I don't like the bulky sleeved cables or extra bits here and there. wire sleave to get rid of the ugly "extra" bits that are plaguing my OCD

1 out of 5 eggsGood luck if you ever need any RMA service

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX860i 860W Digital ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Seems to be a decent psu when it's fully functional but that is to be expected given the price.

Cons: I opened an express RMA (had to provide my credit card info as collateral) for this psu back in October and it has been over 3 weeks and I still have not received my replacement. Initially, I was told that they would ship out my replacement AX860i in one business day, but it has been weeks and the customer service reps have all been not very helpful. I have called 5 times (with long hold times mind you), left multiple ticket comments online and also initiated an online chat through their website but they all seem to be unable to do anything properly in a timely manner.

Other Thoughts: Seriously Corsair??? I went with your brand for my psu, memory, case and ssd because of all the rave reviews you guys get on all the different forums and websites along with how people always say your customer service is top notch in the industry.

I have yet to experience any sort of competent or reliable customer service at this point and I am very disappointed in the lack of communication. I'll have to consider other brands in the future for my computing needs.

PS. I'll be seriously mad if you guys charge my credit card for the express RMA when I haven't even received my replacement.

1 out of 5 eggsDied quick, huge RMA backlog

This review is from: CORSAIR AXi series AX860i 860W Digital ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This PSU greats great reviews from sites I trust.

Cons: Worked for only 6 hours before it died. Luckily it didn't damage anything when it went. Just shut off, and after going through the self test procedure with phone support, it was confirmed dead.

These things happen, and if it ended there I might still have rated this 4 stars, but...

I received this PSU on 10/17, it worked, then died, I called phone support, they confirmed and sent me to the website to start the RMA, and ended the call. Here's where the problem starts. This model isn't list on the RMA form, and it's not listed on the support ticket form. The RMA process was started using a different model and the correct model was annotated in the ticket notes. After 4 days of exchanging emails I was told I needed to call support to setup the RMA!? A call to phone support and I was told they couldn't process the RMA, and I should call back in the 3 days! I called back, RMA was processed. After a week I called to get the status and was told it never shipped, but it would go out 'today', and to call back tomorrow for tracking info. Called next day, and was told the AX860i RMA backlog is 1 month deep, and they nicely upgraded the RMA to an AX1200i, which I later found out also has a 1 month backlog! So finally they downgraded me to a AX1200 (non-I)

Other Thoughts: I speculate that this PSU has an extremely high failure rate, RMA backlog is out to 12/5/13 - that's 50 days!

I was stuck with the choice of a non-functional computer for 50 days or an older, discontinued PSU that Corsair had on the shelf. Either way equals dissatisfied customer, and I'm doubly so for messing around with customer service for 3 weeks before I even got that choice! Now I have a PSU I don't want rebuilt to who knows what level of quality.

Corsair, if you're listening ticket # 6192574 . Most of the people I spoke to didn't update the ticket, and in future calls no one seemed to know what was going on. I'm not getting anywhere with CS, and I don't have another avenue available. 1 star the product, 1 star for the service.
