4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product!

This review is from: CORSAIR AX series AX860 860W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: got everything hooked up and my computer was good to go. Very low noise even without being switched to hybrid. lots of power.

Cons: this was enough to take an egg off, the cable length of the supplied cables. Don't get me wrong they are great quality, could definitely use some extra length because it was a very tight run with my tt Level 10 GT case.

Other Thoughts: -Highly recommend this PSU

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good. Runs quiet, easy to install.

This review is from: CORSAIR AX series AX860 860W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: * Modular cables are nice
* Runs quiet, I don't hear a thing from the fan.

Cons: * There are designated spots for PCIe / CPU power versus SATA power connectors, there are more spots for PCIe / CPU power than SATA power slots, I wished it was the other way around with more SATA power connectors. Alternatively, they could have provided cables that had mixed connectors of old-style molex and SATA on one rail.
* If you have a case fan that still uses molex connectors or older drives that uses the four pin molex, you may have to hog a rail instead of sharing it with non-vital DVD/BD drives.

Other Thoughts: The "carrying bag" for the cables is just a silly idea to me.

And did I mention that it runs very quiet?

1 out of 5 eggsDOA TWICE. Bad luck?

This review is from: CORSAIR AX series AX860 860W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: At least it looks nice. It is small.

Cons: First time I got it, it was a DOA. I manged to get an RMA and return for a another one.
Second time i got it, IT WAS ALSO A DOA. I spent almost 4 weeks for getting and returning 2 of these power supplies.

Other Thoughts: Just stay away from this AX. There are other better ones.

4 out of 5 eggsDefinition of Modular

This review is from: CORSAIR AX series AX860 860W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Simple and Straightforward, all PSUs should be this.

Cons: I had to knock an egg for this, I would have liked an addition of one other wire and address the Power SATA:
What Id include: A single MOLEX extension wire (I know the industry is moving away from MOLEX, but some odd things still use them, or at least add in a SATA Power to MOLEX adapter.
The SATA Power cords are a little lacking, the dont have the same black mesh covering like the other connection wires, and I could have had a little more distance between each connectors that are daisy chained.

Other Thoughts: Id still recommend this product.

5 out of 5 eggsIf I could, I would give it 6 stars.

This review is from: CORSAIR AX series AX860 860W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Stable, 80 plus platinum, truly fully modular, not over-sized (Standard ATX), flexible cables.

Cons: Not that I am aware of.

Other Thoughts: The real test of a product is when something goes wrong. I have had this unit for a few years, and a few months ago some of the cables were damaged in a move. I did not inspect it closely, so simply plugged it back up and it seemed to be running smoothly until I could smell a "plasticy" smell. What had happened was that the insulation between some of the leads had worn in some of the PCI-E, the cables had created a short, and melted the connector to the PSU proper.

Here is the thing, the PSU managed to control the over-voltage (due to the reduced resistance with ~constant load), not fry any of the components it was plugged into, and not fry itself (I tested each with a serial load tested using other cables).

I emailed Corsair Customer service about the issue and within 4 days I had replacement cables in my hand. None of the nonsense run around "we go through the seller" that I have run into with other PSU suppliers on this and other sites. They simply build a good product, and stand behind it.

So, even if this unit costs a little more than a similar competitor, I strongly recommend it. The true customer support speaks volumes in the value of it.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice power supply

This review is from: CORSAIR AX series AX860 860W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Love the moduler cabling as you only need to plug in those cable options you need.

Cons: So far none.

Other Thoughts: I would have preferred another cable assembly with SATA power plugs rather than the several adapters to convert from the older style molex power plugs to SATA versus two of the older style molex power plug cables.

5 out of 5 eggsVery stable power

This review is from: CORSAIR AX series AX860 860W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC 80 Plus Platinum Modular ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: -Very stable power for overclocking (I've got my FX 8350 running at 4.7ghz with zero issues)
-Love the fact I'm not wasting as much power as a lower certified PSU would waste (keep in mind I'm running the build below...so the definition of "wasting power" is completely irrelevant ;) )
-Modular cabling allows you to keep case looking clean
-Plenty of cables provided to do everything you need

Cons: -I would not suggest this PSU for multiple graphics card builds on the AMD platform (AMD is not power efficient with anything)
On an intel build you could get away with this for two graphics cards but not more
-No other cons

Other Thoughts: -Keep in mind the "Platinum" rating is based on 50% load. Go to Wikipedia and look up "80 Plus" or just look below for most common load ratings (115v). For example below, this Platinum rated PSU has a 92% efficiency rating at 50% load but only an 89% rating as you get towards 100% load.

Rating/Load 10% 20% 50% 100%
Bronze NA 82% 85% 82%
Silver NA 85% 88% 85%
Gold NA 87% 90% 87%
Platinum NA 90% 92% 89%
Titanium 90% 92% 94% 90%
