5 out of 5 eggsSolid power supply at a solid price

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020060-NA Power Supply

Pros: Everything from what I have experienced I have two of these and one CX500. I bought the first one at a brick-and-mortar store for much more than listed on here, simply because I needed one in a pinch. Have had that one for 2 years and as of recently is running a GTX 770 just fine.

I liked the second one so much I decided to buy another off here for my work computer. That has been running fine as well and powering a GTX 550ti with ease.

The CX500 is running fine in a family computer for the past 1/2 year now(that's just powering a cheap amd card) and that's run flawlessly as well.

They are also all modular which is nice for maintaining good air flow removing unnecessary wires

Kudos to Corsair for a quality budget-conscious line of power supplies.. I think I found a new budget-friendly psu to put in my builds

Cons: Haven't come across one yet, enjoying my corsair psu's much better than the thermaltake's I used in older builds

2 out of 5 eggsDefect

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020060-NA Power Supply

Pros: Looks nice. Included all the power connected I needed. Good price.

Cons: Had it for 1 month in the box before putting it in an itx system. Mine sounds like a idling truck after playing a game. My system is low power draw. After the rumbling starts, I have to shutdown the computer completely for it to stop, turning the game off or restarting the computer do not do the trick.

After pulling out the power supply and confirming it was the source of the noise, I noticed that the sound goes away when turn on its side, but when the fan side is down as intended (with clearance) it is unacceptably noisy.

Other Thoughts: I have built 3 systems over the years. Bought almost every part from newegg. This is the first time I have received a defective part for a system build. I have received one other defective product unrelated to system building.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020060-NA Power Supply

Pros: Semi-modular -- every cable but the main motherboard and CPU connectors is removable. Cables seem fairly long. 6 SATA connectors and 2 PCI-E. Greener than most in its price range: 80 Plus Bronze, ErP Lot 6. 600W is plenty for modern systems. 3 year warranty. Got $20 off with a mail-in rebate.

Cons: The PSU seems threaded for smaller-than-standard case screws. The modular cables are a bit thin and unsleeved. I'd prefer 80 Plus Gold but could not get that for a price that makes sense. Rebate takes 6-8 weeks.

But the real drawback: The 24-pin motherboard connector absolutely will not snap into place. I have a Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H Micro ATX board, so it's not cheap or off-brand or anything. Considering the connector essentially powers my entire system, I'm removing 2 eggs. There's no excuse for that tolerance to be off.

5 out of 5 eggsExcelent Price Performance

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020060-NA Power Supply

Pros: The sleeved durable cables, and the semi-modular nature of the PSU help keep case clutter down. The two 6/8pin GPU connectors will pretty much take care of any single card graphics solution, with enough wattage for everything but the high end cards. The fan is relatively quiet to the point where I can’t hear it when my case is fully assembled. Overall a great PSU for the price and a steal at the $35 (w/rebate) I got it for.

Cons: My only wish is that the SATA power connector cable was a bit longer. I would have been able to connect all my SATA devices without connecting another cable.

5 out of 5 eggsprovides the juice

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020060-NA Power Supply

Pros: Modular-appears to have cut down on the rats nest of wires since power supplies now have to deal with a half dozen different style power connectors.

Has a good assortment of cables and the length worked in my CM HAF XM case.

Worked out of the box

Price was right

Cons: None I can determine at the moment.

Could have come with a silver badge for my PC..but that's pushing it really.

Other Thoughts: I had to trip a few bucks off my x99 build where I could and the low holiday pricing and rebate did the trick for me. While 600 may seem small for an x99 build, I have no aspirations for an SLI video system right now, so in the future I might have to upgrade to a bigger PS, but the CX600 provides the power without excessive noise, so it's a win as far as I am concerned.

We'll see if corsair delivers on the rebate, most if not all of my previous rebates have been with other vendors

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020060-NA Power Supply

Pros: Good psu, cheap, modular, hasn't failed yet after 3 weeks of constant use (as in, the computer has been on for 3 weeks. I'm not that addicted)

Cons: ATX 24 pin didn't fit into my mobo without extreme force to the point of fearing that I broke it and profanity - OUTSIDE the case, so I could support it and it was still hard. A couple other people have reviews like this, so be careful. You get what you pay for, and from what it looks like this is kind of a lottery.

2 out of 5 eggsConnector won't clip

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020060-NA Power Supply

Pros: Powered on. Quiet.

Cons: 24-pin connector won't clip into the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: For my first build, it all went pretty well except for this unit. I can't say much about it because of the fact that I barely got to use it.

3 out of 5 eggsUh, A lttle quality control would be nice

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020060-NA Power Supply

Pros: Good Price After Rebate
Semi-Modular
Quiet

Cons: Quality Control forgot a 1x2 inch piece of plastic on one of the heat-sinks below the fan. It produced the worst noise and prevented the fan from spinning properly.

After diagnosing this, Instead of RMA'ing I opted to pop off 2 screws from the fan guard and grab the the plastic with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Other Thoughts: Other than the plastic, solid PSU, many connections, some are a little too long, but what are you gonna do.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat power supply at a great price!

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CP-9020060-NA Power Supply

Pros: Six hundred watts of tightly-regulated clean power. MODULAR! Includes cable ties for managing cables and improving airflow. Comes with a standard three-year warranty as well. I bought this on sale at $59.99 with an offer for a $20 rebate in the form of a prepaid card!

Cons: It does not come with a quick start guide and while the modular cable outlets are labelled to some degree, it leaves a bit of guesswork to someone like myself who has never worked with a modular power supply before.

Other Thoughts: Corsair power supplies of this caliber used to have five-year warranties just five years ago. However, nearly all of the name brand PSU manufacturers have gone to three-year warranties nowadays. Also, Corsair used to wrap their PSUs in a velvet drawstring bag, but now it is just wrapped in a light whity foam envelope. Minor changes that are not worth taking an egg away for--just little things that catch my attention and make me wonder a bit.
