4 out of 5 eggsPerfect size

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX430M 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Semi-Modular, Cool, Quiet, 80+ Bronze certified

Cons: The Corsair box came slightly damaged. Upon opening up the package I noticed that there was a corner bent out of shape. I checked the PSU to make sure that it would still work and then used a little elbow grease to force the corner back together and fold down the metal tab that was loose. (- 1 egg for condition).

Despite the split case corner the PSU works fine. May be a deal breaker for new builders who don't know how to test a PSU.

Definitely worthy of a mention for Corsair and Newegg on their Quality Assurance checks before shipping to customers.

Damage may have happened during shipping. I just don't know.

Other Thoughts: II had to use a semi-modular PSU for a small form factor ITX case. Corsair is a name brand that I trust, so it was a no brainer to use their small wattage PSU.

Despite the 1 egg subtraction for case condition, I would still recommend this PSU to others. Had it not had a bent corner I would have given 5 eggs.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX430M 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Good product, very quiet under load with running just a G3258, and stock fan. Very few watts, and efficiency is well within 80% range, even when overclocking.

Cables are sleek and fairly simple, making it easier to route than sleeved cables.

Documentation was helpful, and the modular interface is easy to use, as expected.

No issues, expecting it to handle a GTX 750 Ti or future mid-range GPUs depending on my choice.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The latch on the 20+4 pin power connector will not "click" onto the latch on the header. Not really and issue, though, as it still goes in all the way with little force, and hasn't caused any problems.

System:
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258
RAM: G.SKILL Sniper Series 4GB DDR3 (1600 MHz)
Motherboard: MSi Z97 U3 Gaurd-Pro
Storage: Crucial MX100 (128GB)
No GPU

2 out of 5 eggsCX430m

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX430M 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: PSU was almost dead silent while on....at First, I like that its modular and the look of it is nice, seems to handle my needs ok in a low watt set up

Cons: after 2 days I started hearing a loud rattling, grinding vibration sound coming from the case so I opened it up to investigate, started by stopping fans and found out its the psu fan

Other Thoughts: its a shame, I used to think anything corsair meant quality, guess that's not true anymore

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsNot enough SATA connectors

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX430M 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet fan. Inexpensive.

Cons: My system has an SSD and 2 other SATA hard drives. Like most people, I also use a CD-ROM drive. Corsair includes two connectors with 2 SATA connectors each, for a total of 4 SATA connectors. The distance between the two connectors on a cable is not enough to attach the CD-ROM drive (it is mounted higher in the case as per norm) and hard drive area (mounted lower in the case). So I have to switch out the power connectors when I want to use the CD-ROM.

I submitted a customer service ticket to Corsair explaining this and asked for an additional SATA power cable. Reply was "Additional modular SATA cables for your CX430M can be purchased from our Web Store." Unacceptable to me. If they're only going to include 4 SATA connectors, they should be able to accommodate this type of hardware. We are NewEgg customers, after all (meaning system builders). Good business would be to send the customer a free cable if you couldn't include another with the power supply.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible - 24 pin connector didn't snap in

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX430M 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: - It's corsair, which is usually good for a PSU
- Semi-modular

Cons: - 24 pin connector would not snap in to the header on the motherboard
- expensive for what you're getting

Other Thoughts: I ordered one of these on the low end of the power I wanted but I have previously used corsair and never had a problem. The semi-modular design was also pretty key since I was installing into a mini tower.

No matter what I tried (short of tools that would have destroyed the mb) the 24 pin connector would not snap in. I returned it and ordered another. Same problem. Googled it and many others have had this problem.

Went next door to canada computers, got an EVGA 500B and it worked perfectly without any trouble at all. Worse is that the price seems to have gone up (!) to $70. Not sure if it's a bad lot but tech support claimed to have not heard of this problem despite the reports on the internet.

I would advise - *stay away* unless you have the time/money to potentially make multiple returns.

4 out of 5 eggsCorsair Quality on a Budget

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX430M 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -Modular
-Corsair quality, great fit and finish as always
-Amazing PSU for the price

Cons: -Not a whole lot of room for powering lots of SATA/peripheral devices. You can only power 4 SATA/Peripheral devices with this PSU. Not a complaint, just something to note for those considering a purchase.

Other Thoughts: -430W Modular PSU built to Corsair standards, can't complain for ~$25. I believe you can even get it for $20 now after rebates. Can't beat this PSU for a budget build.
