3 out of 5 eggsNot Bad Not Great

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: No obstructions of the interior fan.

Back vent is well ventilated.

Power supply chassis is slightly smaller than other 500W units...in terms of "front to back" depth, which can be helpful in some PC cases.

It didn't blow up or smell that bad when I powered it only.

Cons: SATA power connections are stiff, almost feels like they are slightly too small to plug into a storage device power connector.

SATA power leads have 1 with 3 SATA plugs and 1 with 2 SATA plugs, but both cables can plug into the same connectors on the power supply. Humm, what's up with that?

All Molex connectors are on a separate connector string including a Berg connector for floppy. Really? A hardwired Berg connector for floppy in this era? I would have preferred a Berg to Molex "pigtail" that I could remove, if necessary, to expose another Molex connector.

Hardwired CPU power connector is a solid 8 pin plug, not a split 4+4 pin plug. So on boards where you only have a 4 pin socket you have to use an 8-pin to 4-pin CPU power adapter, or "hang" the 8-pin plug "over the side"...both are "fail" for builders wanting a nice clean build. Not to mention, on some motherboards there is no space next to the 4-pin CPU power socket to "hang" part of a solid plug "over the side". This definitely got an Egg knocked off.

All interior cables except for the motherboard power cable are "flat strip" style cables. Not my preference and I sure don't see any gain to using them.

For the price of this product, I think there there are others that do it better, but I have read so many good product reviews about Corsair power supplies that I wanted to try one just to see what reviewers are raving about.

Other Thoughts: No eggs to Newegg for placing the 600W unit on sale immediately (within 24 hours) after placing this one on sale. Buyer's remorse. How about a few more days or even a week so we can get over the "new toy joy" before seeing a more powerful product from the same vendor advertised on sale at the same price (before mail in rebate)????

2 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Great PSU, I would only recommend this if It's on sale or has a rebate.

Good price, good output, cool design, and modular.

Cons: I HATE how all the sata and MOLEX connectors are intertwined, and not on a single wire each. My SSD is on the bottom of the case and the wire that has 3 sata connectors cannot reach both, so I have a total of 5 sata connectors for 2 items, just horrible.

BEWARE: the 24pin connector does not lock onto the motherboard. I did a simple search "24pin not latching to motherboard" and all the results came up WITH THIS PSU as the culprit. I think I almost snapped my motherboard in half trying to plug it in, and it's still not latched on.

Other Thoughts: I don't blame them for the poor connectors though, that's what everyone does nowadays.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, Works for what im doing.

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Modular; easy to put in/swap out. It comes with cable ties.

Cons: Price.

Other Thoughts: I with the rebates didn't take as long as they did, but I understand they handle millions of rebates. I would recommend this to anyone, but I would go with a higher wattage for a little bit more $.

5 out of 5 eggsNice PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It works, is not noisy. Modular, that is nice.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I got this PSU to freshen up and older PC to give a kid for Christmas so it would have power for the HD 6870. It has so far been flawless and pretty much silent. The flat cables were nice on this older rig because it allowed for cable management on a case not made tor it.

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -A decent amount of power for the price
-Great cable management
-Ability to plug in separate cables allows for multiple drives and accessories

Cons: None. I cant speak for how it performs with heavy-duty cooling systems or enthusiast GPUs.

Other Thoughts: Been working fine for 5 months now. Will edit if explodes

5 out of 5 eggsCORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: modular!...cable management was a breeze with this!
sli/crossfire ready..

Cons: rebate as a prepaid visa seems kind funny but a rebate is a rebate i guess

Other Thoughts: sli/crossfire ready but you would have to be running some really power efficient components to squeeze that out of 500w

would recommend this if you have a case that shows the inside

4 out of 5 eggsSolid PS; Cable Orientation Issue

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Solid power supply with modular cable system. Don't need to restrict airflow with unnecessary and unused power feeds.

Cons: The SATA power cables are inverted to the peripherals in my system. Since the power supply is mounted at the top with the drives at the bottom I have to mount my drives upside down in order to make use of the cable provided. If the power supply was mounted on the bottom of the case (not possible for me) then the cable orientation would not be an issue daisy chaining to multiple hard drives.

4 out of 5 eggsGot the job done.

This review is from: CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Corsair
Small
Stable
Semi Modular

Cons: Cheap looking wire sleeving.
Multiple color ATX wires
Flat wire cabling on all other cables just makes this PSU look extremely cheap.

Other Thoughts: Building a mini-ATX build and I needed a PSU with a small foot print. I guess I just expected a bit more for $80.
