1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Junk

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I'm sure there are some, but it would not stay connected for me to find out.

Cons: The main power cable was so badly made that the latches on each end of the cable did not work. At the slightest touch, the cable fell out of the power supply socket (either one). It also would not latch to the motherboard socket. I'm also not a fan of the super heavyweight, plastic ribbon cables.

Other Thoughts: I've been a fan of Corsair in the past, but construction of the cables was unprofessional. They have lost me as a customer forever.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsgood psu for the price

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: the best part about this psu is everything is modular and there is plenty of every cable you could want!

Cons: Corsair really should've braided the cables the cables are a bit sloppy and cheap feeling. The cables come out of the psu a bit to easily as I had to plug them in multiple times for them to finally stick and stay in their slots in the psu which is annoying to have to reseat cables 2-3 times

Other Thoughts: It is a good psu and I like it being 100% modular but I'd buy something with braided cables for easier cable management and not this purely because of the cables

5 out of 5 eggsShweeeet

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Not a single hitch! Running I7, 16GB RAM, SLI GTX 760s, 4 hard drives, 2 opticals, a Thermaltake Core V71 case with 4 fans, and it just purrs along, replacing the 760s with 770s soon

Cons: None so far except I literally bought it a day before it went on sale :(

Other Thoughts: The clean jobs of the modular cables, lol plus this case, fogetaboutit, my case looks so clean I made a small video on it on that big tube site :)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat overall

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Extremelyyyyyyy quiet

Power consumption is very minimal with fans not turning on until 30-40% load

Corsair product with great warranty, consistent solid performance.

Cons: Anyone buying this I recommend swapping out the cables with high end indivudually sleeved cables from corsair. The sleeved cables are a nice idea but are extremely stiff, and although they can be maneuvered into position rather easily, the PCI Express cables are very awkward to install the way they are sleeved. I have not bought the individually sleeved corsair cables yet but I will be in the future to make them look better.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat very quiet

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I bought this to replace a very loud thermal take 650watt. It is silent I've yet to hear the fan come on unless playing a game long term and then it is no louder than the case fans

Cons: the flat cables are hard to route.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -Quiet
-Modular
-Well built

Cons: -Included cables are a bit difficult to connect, and you have to really force some of their cables to get them to stay in place.

Other Thoughts: I like this PSU, but the connectors on the included cables are a pain to get clipped in.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Product!

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: A lot of power, mail in rebate and powers my EVGA 780Ti without issues.

Cons: NONE, but see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: The cables/wires are VERY STIFF. I recommend you bend them or loosen them up a bit before installing in the case. I have a Bitfenix Prodigy and the PSU went all the way to the end so cables were inside the case (where HDD cage would be). Also, the connectors were very hard to click in. I literally had to hold the back of the case and force push them in until I heard the click. I don't like loose PSU cables. Other than that, it's a very solid product. I've used over 8 Corsair PSUs in the past and never had issues. I would definitely recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsvery power efficient

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Saves lots of money on the power bill, fan only spins up when it is needed. The multiple rails on it provide solid performance when overclocking both CPU and GPU. Very good modular power supply

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: The fan hardly ever even turns on so don't be worried, it is not often needed for cooling

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, 80+ gold, full modular, powers my 2 overclocked GTX770s and my i7-4770k at 4.6GHz with no problem

Cons: Cables are extremely stiff and hard to fit behind motherboard tray if you don't have a good amount of space back there

Other Thoughts: Cables are plenty long enough but without a lot of room for cable management they can be very difficult to hide

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 4 months of use

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM850 850W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, nice cabling, generally nice power supply when it is working.

Cons: After 4 months of use, it failed into a state where it constantly cycles the power on and off; if I remove power for a period of time and then start it runs a bit longer then starts cycling again, almost like there is a failure in the thermal sensor.

Other Thoughts: Not an inexpensive power supply. It's not under heavy load...8 hard drives, a Haswell board with integrated graphics...no graphics cards. Wouldn't not have expected this to fail under these conditions.
