4 out of 5 eggsQuiet, but cables are stiff

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Very quiet; the fan only spins up at all when under load, which for me means when running a game that kicks the second video card in my machine in. Power is stable and clean from what the mainboard sensors tell me. Modular design is nice, less cables to bundle up and shove out of the way.

Cons: The flat ribbon cables that come with it are VERY stiff and hard to work with. I am glad I bought a roomy case (Corsair Air 540), because if I had one with less space to manage cables in it would have been a royal pain, even with the modular design.

Other Thoughts: They do NOT include any screws to mount the thing with, so be prepared to steal some from your case. I guess that was 8 cents they felt they didn't need to spend.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Impressed!

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It is modular so that is definately a +

Cons: When I was installed this power supply the very first thing I noticed is the Terrible cables that it comes with. They are short and extremely stiff and very hard to manage in your case. Also the actual connections themselves on some points would not even snap/click in place so they would just fall out. I finally got everything hooked up and turned everything on. At first all I heard was a click and the fans on my motherboard kind of turned on for a second and then right back off. I then picked up the PSU to look at it and I kind of tilted it sideways and then it turned on! if i leveled the psu back out it would shut off again. and every time i tilted it from being level to being at an angle it would make that same clicking noise. I then put everything in the computer and tightened everything down and then powered it back up. I heard a weird scratching noise and a billow of smoke coming out of my GPU. Apon further inspection my motherboard and my GPU were absolutely FRIED!!! I have filled out a form for a refund. I am still going to buy a corsair PSU because other corsair PSU's i have seen are actually very nice and good quality. I absolutely recommend you choose a different Corsair PSU

2 out of 5 eggsHonest Review

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Sleek design. Lightweight. Full mudularity.

Cons: Died after less than 1 week of moderate use. Very rigid cables. Poor cable management. 24 pin connector excruciatingly difficult to put in and take out.

Other Thoughts: Died 1 week after use. Running i5 3750k and a GTX 780 TI. I was very excited to upgrade from an old 700W psu that I had been using for years. When I got it, I was very impressed with the design and modularity, although installing it was not what I expected for cable management.

I am extremely dissapointed that I received a PSU that died only after 1 week of moderate use. I even tried the paperclip test to reconfirm and nadda, zilch, nothing. I don't know what kind of QA Corsair does, but this seriously puts a damper on my confidence in the company. This is my FIRST RMA from Newegg, so I can't dock it a full 4 eggs. I suppose the rest of the RMA process will have to dictate that.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsreally good power supply

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: The install into my Cooler Master Haf X case was a breeze. The cables were nice and long, they shaped well according to where I needed them and I have more than enough power for my overhauled PC. This PSU definitely gets a thumbs up from me!

Cons: None, zero, nada, zip!

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Its modular and gold certified!

Cons: - 1 Egg due to either there was a bad port or a bad wire.

Other Thoughts: Bought a second HD because I assumed to OLD one I used was going bad [computer only detected it 50% of the time]. Turned out it was the power cord not supplying power to it all of the time [many restarts needed]. It was plugged to a SSD and a 7200 HD. After some testing [and buying a new SSD] I discovered that either the cable was bad or the port was bad. [Guess is cord was bad]

1 out of 5 eggsBAD

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Low Noise, Price, Corsair

Cons: I purchased this PSU to power 4 ATI7870. I knew I would run close on power, but wanted to give it a shot. So I started with a single GPU and everything worked amazing. Once I added the second GPU in I was getting kernel power failures.

Stay away from this GPU if you are trying to use multiple GPUs.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I fell in love with fully modular power supplies some time ago, and this one is no different. I love the freedom it supplies, the lack of a huge messy bundle of cables, and it has enough juice to supply my rig.

Cons: Not a gripe with this one, but most. I hate having to use triple SATA connectors when I only need 1.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken Promise

This review is from: CORSAIR RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: None

Cons: Cables are cheap. Unit I received exhibited very noticeable coil whine despite being a product specifically designed to limit that very problem. Although I was very disappointed in the product, Newegg had my back, like they always do.

Also ordered the individually sleeved cables from Corsair. After Newegg graciously processed my return and refund, I had no use for those cables. It took me literally an entire MONTH to process a simple return through Corsair.

Other Thoughts: Weigh the options of purchasing a Corsair product. If you have a problem like I did, you may end up dealing with Corsair Customer Service, and you most likely will end up getting stuck.

I used to bat for the Corsair team. I have a case made by them, I have memory made by them, and I even run a PSU made by them. Lately, their quality control has gone down the drain. Their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with (forces you to use online ticket system, but does not read the specific problems you outline for them). Also, they force you to use a website that doesn't even have a refund option (after setting up two separate accounts, one for the store, one for the support site). I asked for a refund, and I was sent a PSU accessory pack! Don't make your customers jump through hoops; that's not how you run a business. I was ignored and disrespected. If I am not a priority for Corsair, then their products will no longer be a priority for me.
