5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product!

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CS450M Power Supply

Pros: This is my first experience with a semi-modular PSU. First of all, Gold certified, so that's awesome. Second, the cables are easy to manage. Just use the cables you need and store the rest.

Cons: This unit didn't come with enough cables to power all my HDDs/SSDs, so I had to scavenge a molex > SATA from my old computer. If you only got one or two drives, you'll be fine, though. Certainly not worth losing an egg over.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but a little concern

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CS450M Power Supply

Pros: Modular, Gold Plus Certified, no issues with my Linux build with Slackware 14.1.

Cons: Just a little concern I have is this white hardened liquid inside of the supply chassis.
Hasn't affected anything so far, but it would be great if I knew what it was.

5 out of 5 eggsEfficient and quiet power supply

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CS450M Power Supply

Pros: The Cosair was on sale, was 80+ gold rated for effiency, met my power supply requirements, and had good editor reviews. The semi modular cabling was also a nice plus. It still leaves plenty of room to step up to a GTX 960, 970, or similar card in the future (I’m assuming the 960 will be below the 970’s 140ish watt TDP).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Got an email from Corsair saying my rebate was processed and on the way. Crossing my fingers that it makes it to my mailbox.

My system:
CPU: i7 4790K
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Motherboard: ASUS Z97I-PLUS mini-ITX
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8 GB (2x4GB) DDR3 2400
GPU: EVGA GTX 750Ti SC
Storage: Intel 730 SSD 480 GB and Intel 520 SSD 120 GB
Case: BitFenix Colossus mini-ITX
Power Supply: Corsair CS450M
OS: Windows 7 Pro (64 bit)
Monitor: Asus VS239H-P 23.0"
Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12
Keyboard: Logitech G710
Mouse: Logitech G502
Speakers: Creative Labs T20
Optical: ASUS external slim DVD writer

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU!

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CS450M Power Supply

Pros: Corsair sells quality power supplies
80+ Gold efficiency
450W is perfect for a good range of needs
Semi-modular means less clutter and more clean cabling opportunities
Quiet operation - I've never heard it over the gentle breeze of my case fans, and I've listened for coil whine and fan noise.

Cons: None I can find, provided the buyer sets expectations. This PSU only has one 8-pin PCI-E plug, so don't expect to run a beefy video card.

Other Thoughts: I bought this when the after rebate price was shockingly (to me, anyway) low.
Always check your power requirements before buying.
This PSU is running an AMD 990FX system with a 95W CPU, a midrange GPU, 2x4GB RAM, and an SSD. Obviously the power demands are not great, which is why 450W fits the bill so well.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent PSU

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CS450M Power Supply

Pros: Very quiet PSU compared to my old one. 450W is more than enough watts that I need to do the daily tasks. Also, I am satisfied with a fast delivery.

Cons: 20+4 pin connector cable is very study that I had to bend it hard for cable management.

Other Thoughts: I wish I could redirect the flow of PSU fan (intake or exhaust) to configure the airflow inside the chassis.

4 out of 5 eggsGood if you get it on sale

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CS450M Power Supply

Pros: Price, I got this for $30 after MIR.
I actually received the rebate.
Semi-Modular
separable connectors (i.e. 20+4 pin comes apart into 20 and 4)
+Gold Cert

Cons: Only semi-modular. 24pin connector does not come off.

Other Thoughts: I'm running a basic mini-ITX system, so 450w is overkill for me. However, it's hard to find a good power supply much smaller than this one, especially at this price ($30). I wouldn't have paid a lot more for it though. It has modular 6 pin connectors but the 24 pin does not come off. Of course, every computer will use this, but if you wanted a shorter cable like I did for my mini-ITX, you're out of luck. I was aware of this before purchasing it, but couldn't beat the price point. I did actually receive the rebate, it came pretty quick in the mail.

5 out of 5 eggsBest <$30 PSU in a while

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CS450M Power Supply

Pros: Efficient and quiet, any noise is unnoticeable next to a std 80mm case fan.

Cons: old-school screws, lol

Other Thoughts: No noise or failure yet - but this is a mATX HTPC setup so it's not likely to be overloaded. could use an extra set of SATA cables for more flexibility

3 out of 5 eggsSome potential issues

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CS450M Power Supply

Pros: Very quiet, stylish, high efficiency. Good cable management and mesh wrapping

Cons: Odd trouble has developed. After shutdown, board will not fully power unless power button is cycled WITH THE POWER DISCONNECTED, which causes the PSU to click once softly and once loudly (relays?) 3 seconds apart. After that the machine will post. I do not attribute this problem with certainty to the PSU, but because the clicking noises are within the PSU it is part of my suspicion.

Other Thoughts: The above notwithstanding, this is a great PSU and I think I've said so before.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice!

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CS450M Power Supply

Pros: Perfect for smaller cases such as my modded OEM HP's. Quiet fan, Nice tight fitting flat modular cables... etc

3.3v = 3.34v

5v = 5.08v

12v = 12.13v

Cons: The Corsair CS450M LOGO will always appear UPRIGHT only if your case opens on the left side.

The Corsair CS450M LOGO will always be UPSIDE DOWN no matter how the power supply is orientated with any case that opens on the right side... as most OEM cases do.

Pie in the sky... for right side panel cases one extra decal to apply over the upside down one would be nice.

Other Thoughts: Had I known the CSxxxM series was this nice I would have bought two when they were on sale!

2 out of 5 eggsWorked Great...Until it Died

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS450M 450W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Corsair CS450M Power Supply

Pros: 1- Really quiet.
2- Semi-modular.

Cons: Worked great for almost four months, then stopped working completely. No sparks, no smoke. One day I tried to start my computer and nothing happened. No sound of any kind. It simply didn't power on. I replaced the Corsair with my OEM PSU and my computer has been working perfectly ever since. I hope Corsair honors their warranty.

Other Thoughts: It's so tempting when well-known brands sell PSUs at deep discounts. This unit has great features on paper, but when you buy a PSU for such a low price you know something is missing. In this case it was quality control.
