2 out of 5 eggsNoise

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS750M 750W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Easy to use, I guess.

Cons: The PSU fan makes a faint stuttering noise which is absolutely ridiculous for a new power supply. It isn't that loud yet but I've had corsair PSUs that eventually get very audible and for this to start so soon is a very bad sign. I might try to get it replaced but then you have the very large hassle of replacing a psu...

3 out of 5 eggsInitially great, starting to decline

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS750M 750W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Great price, good size/footprint, partly modular, good cable length

Cons: Not fully modular (mainboard and CPU power are fixed)
Started to hum/vibrate within 8 weeks, getting worse

Other Thoughts: I purchased this on 6/8/2014. Around early July it began to occasionally hum/vibrate. Now, it does so every time within an hour of running, and it's getting worse. Removed, doesn't appear that any bugs or debris is inside. If you're looking for a slient rig, you may want to look elsewhere for PSU.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it needs to do

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS750M 750W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I haven't yet pushed it near the 750 watts, but after a few bad experiences with Roswill and Raidmax PSU's, this is a breath of fresh air. It simply works.

Cons: Wires feel thin, makes me nervous.

4 out of 5 eggsGood PSU for the Price

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS750M 750W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Good price, excellent PSU with a semi-modular ability which is necessary for most cases these days.

Cons: Motherboard connection and CPU connection is a little large compared to other PSU's. As long as you have a large enough case you'll be fine.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not purchase

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS750M 750W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Fits case standards, reasonably attractive casing and cable sleeving. No spikes in power that I have noticed.

Cons: I'm on my second unit in 3 weeks and about to return it for a refund. The first unit was great for about 4 days and then started to vibrate so badly my entire case was humming.
The second unit has been running for just over a week with no issues until this morning, when it now getting louder and louder.

Either the quality of fan in this unit is EXTREMELY sub-par compared to the AF/SP line of Corsair fans or this unit is completely unable to be utilized in a case where the fan is downward facing to pull air from under the case (there is a case opening there)

Other Thoughts: While my PC stays running 24x7 there isn't a massive power draw. 6x120 mm fans, 3 Sata HD, an old AMD Phenom chip (socket AM3, not +), and a Radeon HD 7970. The most intensive applications (games) I have run lately are Diablo 3 and Creeper World 3.

5 out of 5 eggsNice 750W 80+ PS - Great size

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS750M 750W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: -Well packaged with plenty of modular cables
-Good looking power supply, black with a nice finish
-Modular and 80+ Cert.
-Very quiet, cannot hear it over my already quiet 120mm case fans
-Solid steady power from a name I trust
-Nice compact size reletivley speaking

Cons: Modular cables are a bit stiff. No eggs knocked off because they are not to the point of being brittle by any means. If you are doing a build and need some tight corners try folding a heating pad around your cables for 10 min and they become more pliable and easier to work with.

Other Thoughts: Received this as a review item.
Really nice PS here so far. Tested this on two machines.

My HTPC. The dimensions are quite small for a 750W unit. Was able to fit this nicely in my smallish HEC case. This machine is a HTPC and file/media server for my home network. The PS never got too warm in the tight confines and the fan was not audible over the 80mm case fans. This was left on 24/7 for over a month with no power or heat issues.

My gaming PC. Used this with an AMD 1090T overclocked 3.7GHz. There is one SSD, two HDD, CD/DVD, 2xHD7850 cards, 5 120mm case fans and a large Corsair CMPS CPU cooler. Again, this performed flawlessly for about a month. Still going strong. Never any heat issues for power issues. I would game on this for 5-10 hours straight (yes, no life) without a hiccup.

Corsair. I have become a fan of Corsair the last year or two. I have a couple of their mechanical keyboards and SSDs in the house. I did have an issue with my M95 mouse failing after about 6 months. They replaced it under warranty with no real problems. It took some time (about 3 weeks from start of process to receiving my new unit) but that is expected with shipping and everything. I would recommend this power supply and Corsair as a company.

5 out of 5 eggsIts so quiet... is it on?

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS750M 750W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Silence! That and POWER... That's all I ever wanted from a PSU and that's exactly what I get from the CS750M. Not to mention, its beautiful and the price is right. Gold Rating means it will be efficient and 750 Watts means it will not have to use every last drop of its energy to push your PC to its limits. When I first powered up my PC I expected to hear the typical rush of air from the PSU fan. Much to my surprise, not a sound was heard, not even a whine. Poetic.

Cons: None to speak of.

Other Thoughts: Corsair CS750M is a beat of a PSU that should be able to power just about any PC without making a peep. Powers my i7 with a big ole GTX780 easily and still has plenty of head room. I highly recommend this PSU.

1 out of 5 eggsI have never had a worse experience

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS750M 750W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Excellent packaging, semi-modular.

Cons: Completely dead after ~10hrs of total use. Brought computer to three different locations, each time it would throw the breaker when plugged in unless moved to a circuit where it is the only draw. That is with just MOBO/CPU plugged in, in new buildings.

Because it was so hard to get it in a position to use it, it took me 2 months to get that 10 hours of use, which put me outside my RMA window. I paid $10/hour for this PSU, and now I have to deal with un-managing these cables to get it out of the box.

Other Thoughts: Corsair you should be ashamed of yourself for selling such a low quality product. I'm not the only one who has had this experience, read the comments- you are cowards for profiting off this model, and should do the right thing. I gave you $100, you owe me a working PSU.

4 out of 5 eggsCool and Quiet

This review is from: CORSAIR CSM Series CS750M 750W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: If you do a search here on Newegg for Power supplies and then filter by most reviews, chances are high that you are going to see many Corsair models. There is a reason for that, they have made a name for themselves over the years producing top quality components. This unit is no different and exceeded most of my expectations.

The first thing you will notice when opening the box for this PSU is the packaging. Besides the extremely high end products this is as nice as it gets. Although pieces of foam and cardboard don't affect the performance, people love to know what they just bought is quality and premium packaging definitely helps sell that idea.

Although this is a full sized power supply, I was able to fit it into a Mini ITX case (Cooler Master Elite 130) with no issues. In fact the modular cables really helped make sure no room was wasted with unused cabling and unobstructed air flow front to back.

Along with being in a smaller case, the whole machine is located in an entertainment center cabinet and is being used as an HTPC streaming content through the house. After a month of almost daily use I can confidently say that this things stays very cool and quiet while running 24/7. Having a Gold efficiency rating will almost certainly help with any power cost since I have yet another full fledged computer running day and night.

All in all there is much to like about this unit, however I do have a few comments and complaints...

Cons: And the biggest one of those complaints is the cables, more specifically the feel of them. For some reason that I can't quite pin point they feel somewhat cheap. The plastic isn't noticeably thinner, yet when plugging in some connections I was concerned with enough pressure I could snap a piece off. Chances are if you've built a PC in the past you know how stubborn some 4 pin molex connectors can be. Obviously not everyone even has a need for molex anymore, but if you're paying for a higher end product you expect that no corners be cut.

Moving away from the connectors and onto the cables, they are incredibly stiff and awkward to move/position. Maybe I classify this as an issue because my working space was so restricted, however I've noticed more people are scaling their builds down with powerful and efficient pieces. If you plan on building a Mini ITX build like myself, know that cable management is going to be an issue.

In stark contrast to the overall unit which oozes quality, I just am not happy with the cables or connectors. I don't exactly how much those plastic pieces cost but I certainly think a little more time and effort can go into the design for the price being charged. For that reason I am deducting one egg.

Other Thoughts: Minor niggle over the cabling aside, I would recommend this unit for anyone looking at a mid tier, 750 watt PSU. I had planned on switching this unit back out for what was in my HTPC prior, but it just runs well and unnoticeable that I have no reason or need to do so. However, do your research beforehand, most people don't need huge PSU's anymore unless you are building an enthusiast gaming or workstation rig. PC components have gotten so efficient in past years that most rigs could do with a 600 Watt PSU or less. Now it's always nice to have some overhead in case you want to upgrade in the future, but again thing's keep getting smaller and more efficient over time and if you don't need 750 Watts then you can use the extra cash on a better GPU or more RAM.
