1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: ---

Cons: my fujitsu 2.5" hd did not fit into this 2.5" case. Might have just been a bad unit, but the hardrive itself would not fit in the case, let alone the header that has a board on it. Spend a little more money get a better case, or try one of the other cheaper models

3 out of 5 eggsCheap price with cheap cables

Pros: low price, a nice carrying case, and does eSata along with USB.

Cons: the USB power cable has a dual end on one side, which with other products is used to provide extra power if needed along with the data. The cable that came with the product does not power the HD via the single USB cable alone.

Other Thoughts: I have a friend at work who has a similar cable, but his is much thicker. I asked him if we could hook it up with his cable and it powered by the single USB cable alone, so it's not the device but the cable. get a decent USB-A to mini-USB and it will work. it seems the power comes across fine with a standard cable which I tried when I got home. You do however need the extra power cable when using esata, but you'll also get much faster speed from esata if you can use it, so it's an ok compromise. Wish they made a compound cable of esata and usb power or have power on the esata port.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't

Pros: Cool looking leather case. Nice cable with y-adapted male ends.

Cons: Doesn't supply enough power to installed drive. Tweaking and playing around will eventually get it to connect and start spinning, but halfway thru a few reads and writes it'll drop the connection. It's not recognized with 3 laptops, 2 desktops, and 2 different satellite PVR units.
Dont expect reliability when using this. I have 3 laptops backed up on the disk that's inside this thing and cannot retrieve the ghosted images.

Other Thoughts: Spend an extra $10 or so and get something that's gonna connect with reliability. Also make sure the drive you install inside will require very little current in order to function correctly.

3 out of 5 eggsIt almost works!

Pros: Leather case, many different cables, and supposedly works with eSata (didn't get to the point to try it). The price is great for what you get.

Cons: It will not work with my K******n SSD hard drive. It works with any other regular HDD. I was hoping to get it to work using the available eSata port and set my RAID to just clone to it (in case of fire and I need the data quick or just have a mobile backup of all my data). But if it doesn't work it doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: I have tried to contact Bytecc support to resolve the issue but haven't heard back from them yet. I really do like the leather case that comes with it. I am able to put all the cable is one convenient spot. All for under 20 bucks.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: Pretty happy with the drive! Good size, comes with many cables, easy to install.

Cons: Nothing major, just a little flimsy and doesn't draw enough power to connect desktop hard drives (jury-rigging).

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: I've bought and used several of the IDE model of these and love them. Never had a problem with any of them and neither have my customers. Size and look is ideal.

Cons: This model for SATA drives totally stinks. I bought two of them and neither one worked more than twice. The first time they ran they got hot hotter than the coals of hell. I've tested the 320gb drive extensively and it's not hurt. The housing's circuitry seems to require far too much power. I had to use a heavy-duty AC powered hub to get them to respond at all and they overloaded the hub and shut it down. Would not run on any wiring combination off the front or back ports of my gamer w/700w power supply.

Other Thoughts: I bought the second one so I would have a factory box to send the first one back in. (Destroyed the first box) Guess I'll just have to eat one. A real disappointment. I've successfully used Bytecc housings of different sizes a lot, and always from Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to install HD, only 2 screws. Works greate with my laptop and 2 desktops.
Also worked with my DVR esata connection to add more available space for movies, although it requires formatting for the DVR space.

Cons: Requires 2 USB ports, 1 for power and 1 for data. Won't work when both USB's are pluged into non powered hub.
