1 out of 5 eggsDespicable

Pros: Someone saw the need for this product and tried to fill it. Hoping Newegg will help out with it.

Cons: Turning everything all the way off and starting over in sequence is only way to reset item. Win 8 system goes to sleep, usb key+mouse do not wake up... unplug key mouse... unplug HDMI... try again.. sometimes they revive, sometimes they don't... only way to reset switch is to turn both computers off at the power supply AND unplug the device then power back all in sequence.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 1920x1200 resolution supported, HDMI Switching, came with cables

Cons: USB 1.0, poor usb switching.

Other Thoughts: The USB Switch is only usb 1.0. - at least once a day after I switch between my laptop and desktop pcs, the USB Ports become non responsive.

Will be sending back for RMA

1 out of 5 eggshorrible pain in the neck

Pros: it has ports to connect 2 computers to one monitor, keyboard, mouse, audio in and out.

Cons: wakes my PC randomly. with this KVM not hooked up, sleep works like a charm. (spent hours trying to fix the issue to no avail)
very difficult 2 switch from a powered off pc to a powered on one. sometimes it takes about 10 pushes of the button, sometimes it works the first time.
half the time the kvm wont wake the monitor from standby, but wakes up PC fine. -just no picture. only way to fix is to unplug hdmi cable.
sometimes, again its random, it takes forever for mouse and keyboard control to start. -like 15 seconds.

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

Pros: Small. Well made. Probably works well if you are on Vista or older.

Cons: Does not support Device Manager so it will not work properly with Windows 7 or Windows 8. If you try and switch PCs, everything hangs because the switch does not send a "keep alive" signal to DM. This is not listed anywhere in the description.

Other Thoughts: Really Bytecc? You couldn't take a few man hours to support the two latest versions of Windows?

4 out of 5 eggsSo far, it's ok

Pros: Small, sturdy, simple. Seems to be working well.
Everything you need is included. Cables are 6 ft. long - long enough for most desktop installations.
The metal housing is nice as it gives the box some weight, so it doesn't tend to flop around with the stiff cables.

Cons: Took a little messing around to get it working.
Had to set it up with a wired mouse, then switch to wireless Microsoft "wireless laser mouse 5000". This triggered a re-install of the mouse drivers (strange, as they were up to date).
It's a little slow on the switch. Takes a few seconds for mouse to work after switching.
TOTALLY generic. Nowhere on the box can you find the brand name, nor on the instructions, nor on the product itself. There's no contact info for any company, no warranty, no support, nothing. Other than Newegg's 30-day return policy, you're flying solo.

Other Thoughts: It seems to be working fine now. As I said it's a little slow to switch. Video switches okay, but the mouse takes several seconds to wake up after switching.
I'm using it with HDMI-DVI adapters and it works fine.
PC1 is a self-built Win7 tower with AMD graphics card.
PC2 is my work laptop (dell) on a docking station.

I was very hesitant to buy this, but the price was right. We'll see if it holds up. So far so good.

Minus one egg for the total lack of support or warranty. Not that I needed it yet, but it's still nice to have.

At first it didn't work at all, then I realized I didn't follow the connection and power-up sequence exactly as described on the instructions. I unhooked everything and re-did it, and it worked (again this was with a wired mouse - didn't work with the wireless mouse right away).
