5 out of 5 eggsDoes exactly what it's suppose to!

Pros: -Quiet Operation
-Moves data FAST
-Windows 7 Recognized my old partitioned HDD instantly
-IDE Connection

Cons: -No Instructions
-Plug "connection port" on the rear of the enslosure feels a little flimsy

Other Thoughts: Although no instructions are included anyone who has installed a HDD in the past won't have any difficulty with this one. Have a screwdriver handy.

5 out of 5 eggsAre you Kidding Me?

Pros: Great Design
Firewire & USB
On/Off Switch
Very Low Price
Very Sturdy
Cooling Fan...Not that it even needs it...runs very cool
Simple to Use
Immediately recognized by computer

Cons: Too New to Rate but works perfect so far.

Other Thoughts: If you need instructions for this you probably shouldn't own one. You pop off two obvious phillips head screws to open. Plug in the obvious two plugs and two secure screws, slide it in the case and put the two original screws back in.

It might take 5 minutes if your drinking coffee.

5 out of 5 eggsNice, sturdy unit, high value

Pros: Very nice design. Outer shell feels almost like a heatsink. Drive had a snug fit, just enough gaps for focused ventilation. Small enough to actually fit inside my old USB enclosure (5 1/4" box). Only a soft hum from the fan. Loudest noise is the drive's tracking, probly amplified by the metal tray and casing. Blends in nicely with my black case and blue led's (power and fan lights were blue, red HD light). Hammered it with some 4GB ISO transfers and bench tests and the case barely warmed up at all--can actually feel the air moving through the vents. So long as this fan holds up, this thing should last a long time. On my old R40 laptop, the 4pin firewire gave a nice bump in speed (@15%) over USB, which is what I was really after for backups (18- 24 USB, 23-28 FW, depending on file size). Read speeds peaked at 38-46, up from 28-36. Link is still a small bottleneck, but the FW is MUCH better, and the added benefit of both USB and Firewire just adds even more value.

Cons: The 4-pin power plug is not a very firm fit--it is easy for it to slip out. Make sure the power cable is secured, and if you need to move the drive, need to make sure to support the power plug in the process--but that is common with Firewire drive cases. The holes for accessing the screws to remove the drive tray are too small, and the pattern for the screws is pretty big. My phillips bit that would fit in the hole was slipping--they torqued those bad boys in there. Fortunately, I had a regular screw driver with larger pattern that fit in the hole to get them out. So be careful when you first go in there or you might strip the heads.

Other Thoughts: All in all, very pleased with this case--although, I would have preferred a normal DC adapter plug, like the kind you can actually feel a click when you plug it in. Much better performance over USB, more so than I had expected. Looks/feels very durable--even the cables inside feel sturdier than my old case, which I've used for about 7 years now. Expect this thing to hold up for a long time.

4 out of 5 eggsGood device

Pros: Nice external, great way to put a old IDE drive to use.
I like that it has a on/off switch, and the indicator light are very handy at times.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsNO INSTUCTIONS

Pros: Don't know, came with no instuctions. Cannot figure out how to get inside it.

Cons: No Instructions. I see two screws on the edge that none of my philip head screwdrivers will fit. Popped in the mini CD hoping for instructions, but it is a driver I may or may not need. So I have a black pretty looking box I cannot get into.

Other Thoughts: Products used to come with instructions.
