5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Reliable, long lasting, manual speed fan

Cons: medium to loud depending on where you set the fan speed to

Other Thoughts: A reliable mid-range (now-adays at least) power supply, although not able to compete with the energy efficiency of the newer PSUs. Just remember, a 1000watt PSU at a low load may not be as efficient as this at a medium or high load.

3 out of 5 eggsNo AUX Connector

Pros: None for me, I had to return it. Newegg site suggests there is an AUX (6-pin) connector, but in fact once I recieved the part, it was clear that there was not.

Cons: See Pros! Also, newegg RMA kinda stinks, but I guess it works to keep their and our costs down . . .

Manufacturer Response:

You can contact Apevia's customer service at service@apevia.com or call at (909) 718-0789 for a 4-pin-to-PCI Express (6-pin) adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsOne thing it will do for sure...

Pros: Using it jumpered to "always on" state to power a dozen hard drives and fans in a jbod chassis. Seems to handle that just fine.

Cons: None in my admittedly narrow application.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked for me

Pros: *If* you get a decently QA'ed unit it will work good.

Nice single +12V rail

Cons: 20 Pin not 24

Other Thoughts: I bought this somewhere else (B&M store) about two years ago because my old Antec 430 True blew -- It was meant to be a cheap temporary test/bench/spare PSU not take a spot in my main gaming setup, but it sufficiently ran a 9800 Pro, X800XL, 7950GT, and now an eVGA 8800GTS 512MB without so much as a hiccup and with 2x HDD's. It has 34A on the single +12V and it's probably more like a 430-450W unit but as long as you get a *good one* it will serve you well, and all you need for modern 24 pin mobo is the 20 to 24 pin extension here at newegg. I have used it with one socket A system, two AM2, and one LGA 775 setup and it works like a char even with a high end.

Manufacturer Response:

The latest models do include a 20+4 pin main ATX connector.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid PSU, extremely attractive

Pros: I purchased this PSU to replace an aging Tt Purepower. Rails are actually the most stable I've seen, even from more respected PSU brands (Enermax, Seasonic). Cable sleeving was excellent and the UV reactivity very sensitive. Interior of the PSU has large and effective heatsinks and onboard fanspeed control is very convenient.

Cons: Fan noise is bit louder than I care for, even on lowest setting. Front fan was DOA, though I didn't notice at first. The single star is removed for that reason as speaks volumes concerning quality control.

Other Thoughts: I was very suprised with this power supply. The visual appeal is still the best I've seen and the voltages the most stable and close to spec.

2 out of 5 eggsCool looking but short life

Pros: Cool looking, bright LEDS. Long cables and plenty of cable ends. Fasst shipping!

Cons: Short life span, mine died in 8-9 months. Had to RMA it. Cable ends sort of a pain to install/disconnect. Power supply charred the P4 end-the 4 pin connection when it gave out.

Other Thoughts: Power supply giving problems around 3-4 months after buying. Computer would freeze only way to get work again is open computer and disconnect and reconnect fans or the dvd/cd burner. It work great for about another week to a month then do it again. Finally the power supply gave out. I only have a mid-grade computer. Only had the case fans, 3 hard drives, and 2 burners and 6600gt video card plugged in. Luckily when the power supply went out it didn't take out anything else with it other than having to install Windows again. Bought different power supply pc works great now! Would not buy this one again.
